Dr. Winston is a Godsend. I moved from Chicago and did not know where to take my 14 year old cat when he got sick and ended up taking him to All-Star Animal Hospital. The doctor there did not even touch my cat. Started telling me that we had to run all these tests on him. I declined the tests and allow him to give him a shot that knocked him out. He was on death's door, when my realtor suggested Sun City West Animal Hospital. Dr. Winston gave my cat undivided attention, very thorough in his exam and brought my baby back from the brink of death within a day. He was very loving and caring towards my cat. He also understood my financial situation and did not charge me for the visit, just the meds and did not charge me for the follow up visit either. He is always available, whether its at his office or on his after hours phone line, in which he tells you that he will return your call within the half hour. Unbelieveable! I have never known any other vet to give so much care. There is a special place in heaven for this man!

Dr. Winston is a fabulous Veterinarian and has has provided excellent care and consultation to my five Cocker Spaniels over the past six years, as well as foster dogs that I have had. Unlike most Vets, Dr. Winston is available by phone after hours to provide consultation when I have been concerned about my dogs ingesting something or demonstrating worrisome symptoms. He is always considerate and takes the time to truly listen to my concerns and the symptoms of the dog, educates me on what might be happening, and tells me what I need to do to help the dog and what behaviors would indicate the dog needs to get to a Vet. He has saved me time and money by avoiding unnecessary visits to the pet emergency hospital. Whether my dogs have had eye problems, dental problems, seizures, skin issues, odd growths, or illnesses; Dr. Winston has addressed the issues with a practical and knowledgeable approach that focuses on the well-being of the dog and not putting them through unnecessary tests or extra expenses for me. I highly recommend Dr. Winston and only wish that he had an office on my side of town.

I had been through so many vets here in Arizona and was never really happy till I met Dr. Winston. He has an after hour helpline where you can reach him for advice 7 days a week. You cannot find that in human medicine. I have had a number of problems with both my dogs and cats and always on an evening or weekend ( of course) and Dr. Winston gave me good advice everytime I have called him and saved me alot of money as I have avoided the emergency clinics twice for problems that seemed serious but were not. He is a real nice man and he has been 100% correct so far on all his care of my pets. He seems to just care about the animal and not interested in doing expensive stuff unless really needed. And his fees were significantly fairer than other places. If there is one vet I would recommend it would be this man. My friends thank me when I have sent them to him with their pets

I took my dog to Dr. Winston for an ear infection that was treated by 4 other veterinarians for over a year and a half and was not getting better. I had already spent almost a thousand dollars. Dr. Winston cured it in 3 months and gave me free rechecks every 2 weeks to make it affordable. Then I moved to Scottsdale and my older dog got bladder stones and the local vets wanted almost 2 thousand dollars for surgery. At Sun City West it cost less that half that and she did just great. he has a helpline where you can reach him it seems all the time and it has saved me a lot of worry and money with a simple call. I sent my sister to him after her vet said her dog needed surgery and she was having financial problems and it turned out he did not and it was a completely different problem and because Dr. Winston knew she was having money issues he did not even charge her for the visit just the medications! I now travel across town to his clinic cause the trip is worth it knowing I will get an honest answer. I read about his accusations. He has mostly a new staff now and I can tell you that some of his old staff were just awful they seemed to dislike everyone and everything. I am happy things worked out for him.

I have been taking my two small dogs to Dr. Winston for almost 3 years and have found him to be very pleasant and competent. He does not try to nickel and dime you by adding on extra services like a lot of vet offices do. A couple of times I have taken one of my dogs in for a problem I was worried about. Instead of immediately starting tests and meds, he told me the problem didn't look serious and to wait a day or so - come back if it hadn't improved. In both cases the problem resolved itself and I wasn't out a bunch of $$.

At my last vet's office in California, every time I walked in the door, it was $150 for this and $250 for that. The vet even told me my dog had an enlarged heart and put her on blodd pressure meds for life. Dr. Winston told me you could not diagnose an enlarged heart based on an x-ray and my dog did not appear to have any heart problems. He said I could get an untrasound, if I wanted, but he said my dog's heart sounded normal and healthy. Ever since I stopped the blood pressure med., my dog has had a new lease on life. She went from being lethargic and listless (from the meds, no doubt) to running around every day with her younger brother.

I am as against any kind of dog abuse as any animal lover would be, but I found Dr. Winston to be even tempered and as good a vet as I've been to. I think before anyone writes and opinion of him, they should know him personally. Other than that, it is only hearsay, and not of much value.
