Horrible Service...Such a Shame

by Pix M. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,291

Although I love the old building and the atmosphere and the food is good, I've given up going back because we have never once had a good experience. I don't know what the deal is, but every time we go we get a bad server that completely forgets about us. We never say anything but this last time was so bad, we did. We ended up getting another waiter half way through our experience and the entire bill was paid for by management and the gave us a free dessert. The effort and the make up was very appreciated, but it was the last attempt for us. Which is a shame because the actual place is one of the coolest Spaghetti Factories ever.

OSF

by Kaitlynn S. | insider Insider | Rank: 28,808

When I first walked in I was in love. The whole place smelled great and the inside was absolutely wonderful. Antiques everywhere, and a sleigh inside!! Tons of interesting furniture, historical items, and good seating. We had a birthday party and everything was done to perfection with food being on time. 2 minutes after ordering salad it was there!! And before we even finished them our food was out!! The ice cream looked melted and then frozen, but the waiter said it was because the temperature in the back kitchen was hot as the person scooped TONS of ice cream, so I can't blame them. It tasted GREAT at a good price. So much food!!

Great atmosphere...Terrible Food!!

by Angela J.

I have been to MANY italian restaurants in the PHX, Chandler, Mesa area and I was terribly disappointed in the food. The staff was wonderful, the trolly car was an awesome touch, the whole "look" was great. Just don't go for the food! We ordered 4 different dished and neither were and good. I had many positive reviews from friends, but being a huge pasta fan, this is NOT the place to go!!

Spaghetti Factory

by Robert P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,268

The Old Spaghetti Factory is a family favorite! Their food and prices can't be beat! Every meal comes with fresh baked bread and plain & garlic butter spread, a salad, pasta dish, ice cream & milk. All this for between $6 & $11!!! It's absolutely wonderful! Can be busy for dinner, but it's well worth the wait!

PROS: Fabulous Italian Food at Great Prices!
CONS: none

Kid friendly, predictable good food, low prices

by Bill H. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,751

To add to what has already been said, this is a place you can take the kids, even if they're a little noisy. You don't have to budget for this one as the food prices are so reasonable we sometimes eat here as a replacement for eating at home. The free spumoni (like ice cream) is a nice touch. They do spaghetti and pasta very well - good every time.

PROS: Low prices, kid friendly
CONS: Parking isn't the best when busy

Good choice for italian

by Eddie M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,735

The atmosphere in here is incredible its actually and old historic home converted to a restraunt, it takes you back in time. In the center of the restraunt is a trolley which you can be seated in, the kids love it. The food is oaky not exactly gourmet but it works.

Great Italain Dishes

by Johnny M. | insider Insider | Rank: 16,159

I prefer the fetticini alfredo with the chicken, one of the best dishes. I also like their ceasar salads, and breadsticks. What I really like about this place is that on Birthdays, they will make a huge deal and get the whole wait staff to sing to the b-day person, it's fun.

Beyond Spaghetti

by Brianna M.

Nice place to dine with family. The wall hanging and decor is so interesting, it gives you something to look at. The food is really good with so many different italian dishes.

Awful customer service, so-so food

by ironeagle48162

My hubby and I were very excited to go to Old Spaghetti Factory after hearing from so many people that it was great. We were greatly disappointed.

The service....
When we were seated, there was no silverware on our table. Our server brought us our salads and left. How does a server bring salads, put them on a table the size of my lap, and not notice we have no silverware?! My hubby and I sat there waiting for our server to come back to check on us, but he never did until he brought out our entrees. So even though we were hungry, we couldn't eat the salads in front of us since we had no silverware.

We needed some more bread about halfway through our meal and we asked our server for some. It took him so long to bring more out that we only had a couple bites of dinner left once we did receive it. I can understand if the kitchen is out of bread and is making more, but come back and tell me that, don't just leave me hanging!

The food...
I ordered the baked chicken. The chicken was on the bone. Every Italian restaurant I have ever been to serves boneless, skinless chicken breast. That's all I'll eat at home, too. Eating chicken off the bone is way too messy and time consuming for me. Plus the bones make the piece of chicken look bigger than it really is.

Hubby ordered the Meat Lover's Treat "for those with hearty appetites". The portion size was not as generous as expected. We're used to going out to eat, eating half the plate for dinner, and taking the other half home for lunch the next day. Not so with these portion sizes. We give the food a 6 overall. I could've made better at home. We will not be going back to this restaurant.

Pros: Cheap food, cool decor

Cons: Small portions, bad customer service, so-so food

Wonderful after graduation!

by scarlettohara

After graduating from the University of Phoenix Online, my father and I wanted Italian. On our way back to our hotel, we happened upon this place and what a jackpot! The food was delicious! The atmosphere is awesome and unique and the service was great! There was so much food that I was thankful we had a refrigerator and microwave in our hotel room. I just wish you had a location in Chicago!

Pros: Inexpensive, good food, atmosphere

Cons: , no bar area, parking is strange

User below is wrong

by lstrebler

There was never an Old Spagetti Factory in Chander... she was reviewing Mike Pulos Spagetti Factory which is rightfully now out of business (it stank).

The Old Spagetti Factory, however, is great. You get huge portions, and salad, dessert, and coffee or tea is included in the price. There is always a long wait, however, there is a movie room and lots of games to keep the kids entertained. This is a favorite spot for our family.

Pros: Great food, good value, fun atmosphere

Cons: Crowded, limited parking

To be no more

by Trisha424

The service was fast & very friendly. The food was very scrumptous. I was very delicious. My friend & I were disheartened to hear that this there last week as the Old Spaghetti Factory, the owner is gonna turn into country type resturant where they will serve breakfast & lunch. According our waitress she said they have lost business since they built the new Chandler mall. But the one on Central in open. I would highly reccomend it!!

Pros: good parking, fast service

Cons: portions are small
