Ratings_icons Brake Masters is sloppy

chris f.

have taken my car there 4 times an they still havent correctly oput my brakes on. I called the coroprate office spoke to nancy osborne 800-888-5545 said will have the supervisor who over sees that store call me and get this issue addressed. We will find out, My gut instinct tells me otherwise but if it isnt corrected will take my car to the dealership. I should have done that to begin with rather then trying to save a buck.

Ratings_icons THEY DESTROYED MY CAR

W.P. A.

50k-65k worked done. They left a huge dent I did not discover until the next day. 5k later the timing belt slipped and my car was totaled, They requested me to have it towed in. Later I found garbage in my radiator which they POWERED FLUSHED. They have avoided responsibility. They did mention "We have a used motor we can install." PERFECT FOR CHRISTMAS BONUS. I am requiring a forensic brake down to explain the prefect placement of the timing belt when they had my car. Corporate displayed totaled lack of concern or compassion. Progressive car insurance is helping me.

Ratings_icons Avoid Brake Masters!

Ken S.

This is one business to avoid at all costs -- assuming you want a fair price for necessary work competently done.

On my last trip to this shop, I requested:
1) oil change
2) coolant flush
3) a/c repair
4) estimate on front brakes.

This is what they did:
1) Oil was over-filled -- in excess of 1" on the dipstick.

2) Fill reservoir was not flushed. There was visible sludge caked around the reservoir and goop floating in the coolant.

3) Charged $60 for refrigerant & dye (to see if there were leaks.) The very next day, the a/c was blowing hot air and the charge was 100% lost. Upon taking it to a more reputable repair shop the next day, they stated the compressor was bad and needed replacement, the oil from the a/c had visibly splattered onto the hood and should have been discernible when checking for leaks, and they guaranteed to me, unconditionally, that NO dye was placed in the system.

4) I had a coupon for replacement of front brakes for $89. Even with that coupon, the unscrupulous Brake Masters employee stated gave me an estimate in excess of $250 for replacement of the brake pads. The rotors were fine, there was still 10% wear on the existing pads, but instead of honoring the coupon, he decided, of his own volition, to charge me for $140 titanium brake pads (NOTE: the cost of brake pads for my model vehicle starts at $21 at Auto Zone and THE MOST expensive ones they sell are merely $45), and tried to charge me extra for brake fluid and to bleed the brake lines. Quite a $89 coupon, huh? I declined. Total cost for brake repairs done at another shop ended up totalling $120.

I'm not a big fan of price gouging. Brake Masters is.

The shop was given the opportunity to rectify their mistakes. Their attempts and offers were extremely half-assed and unsatisfactory.

Caveat emptor. Big time.

PROS: Attractive signage. Well manicured lawn.
CONS: Incompetence. Attempted price gouging. Very poor problem resolution tact.
