Ratings_icons I trust this clinic with my pets' lives

Christine D.

I've been going to this clinic for 5 years, since I first got my pup. Since then I've added a kitty in failing health and at the end of her life, and an adopted, feral dog. In every case, the staff has been remarkable - they're soothing to any stressed out critter, they know their stuff, and they're good with people. I've seen a couple of vets there over the years, other than Dr McComb (who is just fantastic!) and have never had a complaint. Expensive? A bit. So is my own, quality, health care. Plus I trust this clinic with my four legged family, and I can't put a price on that.

I do not recommend this clinic to anyone. Its over priced and the doctors seem more interested in inflating your bill than helping your pet.

We broke our bank on a pet with allergies, and the problem is no better. The first vet prescribed antibiotics and squirt bottle of Malseb for a yeast infection. The problem was back in a couple months, and we were forced to make another visit to the clinic. That bill came out to around $900 with blood tests, skin cultures, prescription food, malseb shampoo, ear cleaner and an anti-itch drug. We had short term results after the yeast was killed but it quickly returned. Needless to say we came back when the dog was chewing himself up.

After nearly 2 years and $3k cash spent we dumped McQueen vet clinic and went to a corporate clinic in a major pet store. The bills are a fraction of the size and our dog seems well on his way to recovery. Example, the exam fee is 55$ at Mqueen, and 35 at the corporate clinic. Allergy tests, with shots to dull his reaction to certain allergens are a small fraction of the cost of McQueen or the Allergist they referred us to. Our monthly prescriptions went from 55$ for Timeral-P down to 8$ a month for a generic that works even better. Since we quit McQueen Vet clinic my dog is happier, and so is my bank account.

Ratings_icons Mc Queen Veterinary Clinic is A PLACE I CAN COUNT ON

Lori P.

I have been taking my dogs to McQueen Clinic for 6 years.

I don't always get Dr. McComb as he has many hats to provide in his practice such as clinics, lectures, surgeries and yes he does deserve a vacation, believe it or not. But whom ever sees my dogs, has always, always treated us with kindness and feel I am the only client there.

Dr. has been through alot of front office staff and when I discussed this with him, he is always aware of what is going on and constantly making changes to help keep his practice friendly and compassionate. He has a great front office manager who also is on the ball.

If any of you are in business, you know how New Clients routinely don't show up for their appointments. That is why Saturday appointments are so special. Some clients don't understand that. They would if they had a business. The bad have ruined it for the good, unfortunately. I say to them, get over yourself. They are "Un-Flexible".

I urge people if they are looking for a clean, best Vets in Chandler and friendly environment for their animals, please call them for an appointment. PS - I would like to challenge anyone with a negative comment who has never run a front office before to try it for just one day. Its not an easy job.

Lori Perry :)

I cannot express how great the entire staff was to us in the saddest time of our families life with out pet. Zoey had been a part of out family for over 6 years and her decline in health took us all by surprise and shock.
From the first phone call to set up the appointment to the time of our visit the staff was great.
They made this time the best experience that we could have in this hard time of our lives with our pet.
Thank you again so much.

Ratings_icons Nikolai's TPLO surgery & Dr McComb

C B.

A friend recommended Dr McComb. He did Nikolai's TPLO and we have been pleased with everything. Dr McComb is caring with the pt and their owners (Parents). He has spent as much time as I have needed in the office or on the phone. Nikolai goes back for his next checkup tomorrow and I know Dr McComb will be pleased. We are!! The staff is caring and sharp. Keep up the good work. Thank you, Chris B

Ratings_icons This office ROCKS.

Most of the reviews on here about Dr. Scott McComb and his office are great and very well-deserved; a few others expectations are a bit out of line--this is a professional office, not Burger King: you can't have it your way. They run a tight ship at McQueen Vet Clinic--what some of you call "inflexibility" I view as consistency--the rules apply to EVERYONE. Food for thought: If you're not cooperating with existing policies, who is really being inflexible? I have an allergy dog on 5 different medications; we've been seeing Dr. McComb for the last 6 years. I've NEVER had a problem getting an appointment--even for urgent matters, probably because I don't have a problem being flexible by seeing another vet aside from McComb. Saturday appointments are for established patients for good reason--we show up. Dr. McComb has gone above and beyond to help me since my dog's medical expenses are high and we don't have pet insurance. This office and it's vets are fabulous, caring and cooperative. Are you?

Ratings_icons Staff unpleasant, McComb is great

Sylvia S.

I wonder why Dr McComb allows his staff to treat the patients with such disregard and respect. It amazes me McComb allows or hires front desk people with no common sense. Front desk has shorted me on Rx's that I paid for, gave me completely off the wall answers to questions. I know working with the public is not easy, though it is the front desk that represents the practice. And for that reason I don't look forward to appointments.

I would highly recommend Dr McComb, he calmed my dog, who was afraid of vets and was great with my her. He is a great Vet.

Ratings_icons The front staff is a poor example of Dr. Scott McComb

Ron T.

We followed Scott to his new clinic and have used him for 10 years. He is caring, friendly and honest. Over the past 3 to 4 years, his staff out front have taken it (hopefully) upon themselves to be rude, condescending and at times, nasty. I do not believe this is the tone set by Dr. Scott but now the business has grown and expanded, he's lost control over the staff and their attitudes. Looks like we'll take our dogs elsewhere. It's sad because we really liked and respected Scott.R. Thompson

Ratings_icons The best vet and staff out there!

erin a.

My mom has taken her 2 dogs to Dr. McComb for years. After moving from Las Vegas I needed a vet. My cat had an unexpected emergency and on a Saturday Dr. McComb took him in. The vet techs were wonderful, especially John and Ashley. After reading peoples complaints about not getting evening or Saturday appointments or even not owning up to their mistakes I feel I have to spread the word that this clinic is truly the best. I lost my cat, but my cat had a serious condition. The staff did everything they could to save him. After they found out he passed, Dr. McComb sat with me and talked about my loss. They do care! and to say otherwise is ridiculous. After rescuing another adult cat the staff were all excited to meet him and took him around the clinic. Everyone knew who I was, who my lost cat was and made my new cat feel welcome. I will continue to take all 3 of my fur children to Mqcueen Vet and hope that people also get their fur children the excellent care given at Mcqueen vet.

I have been going to this vet for several years. Dr. Lyons has been my doctor until she recently moved. They have helped me with my German Shepard who had cancer at the age of 14. Once she passed Dr. McComb made a donation in her name to a Washington state research veternary hospital. It was s beautiful unexpected sentiment. I have 3 chihuahuas also that are routinely seen. Robin is an AMAZING tech! SHe can make those little neurotic dogs, stop shaking and behave for blood draws and whatever needs to be done. I would highly recommend this office for anything you need, for your pets health and well-being.

Joei C.

a few months ago we had our little Maltese and our Mini Schnauzer spayed. Dr McComb was very caring and explained exactly what the Laser surgery was that he was going to perform and how much better it was than the old way. Our Mitzi and Gracie came through with just a tiny cut that healed very quickly. I don't think they had any discomfort except for the 1st day. I believe Dr. McComb and his staff go out of their way to make you feel that your pet is special to them.
We moved here from California and had a wonderful vet and consider ourselves fortunate to have found Dr. McComb

Ratings_icons Extremely Inflexible

Puppy L.

I never got a chance to check these guys out simply because they wouldn't let me visit them. I called them up to book up a Saturday appointment and they denied that to me, suggesting that it is not available for new patients. Understanding that their hands may be tied by this bizarre policy, I called them up again to see if I can get a 5:00PM appointment on Friday (which by the way was available). Their answer was, since its going to be your first visit, it may take a little longer than half hour, and we close at 5:30PM, so you cannot get that one either. I explained them that it would be slightly difficult for me to get out of work on that particular day, but I would definitely like to get my puppy checked as soon as possible. Instead of accommodating, they chose to be inflexible. I don't know if they are good or bad, but they sure did sound very commercialized, least caring and highly inflexible. They chose their policy over my puppy. I am just glad that I didn't have to rely on them for urgent care.

Ratings_icons Inflexible?!

Karrie S.

This practice came highly recommended so I called and asked for my two dogs to see Dr. McComb. He was not available for a fair amount of time (vacation, I think) and that was fine. We saw Dr. Lyons. She was fine but I never left really knowing what options would be best for my dogs (We moved from up North and I loved our vet up there so it was important to me to find someone I trusted just as much and I was not able to establish that with Dr. Lyons). I called recently and asked to see Dr. McComb as that was who I original had wanted my dogs to see and requested. We had only seen Dr. Lyons twice. It was stated to me that we were assigned Dr. Lyons and could not change and we could not see Dr. McComb. We have since gone to Dr. Stitzer, who was also recommended to me, and we actually get to see him and not just some random unflexible assignment. At this point, I would recommend Dr. Stitzer. I am sure Dr. McComb is fantastic, I unfortunately was not able to get the opportunity to find out!

Dr Lyon has been treating my cats since their clinic opened and I cannot say enough good about her or Dr. Combes. The time spent is truly given with listening and compassion. Explanations will be given two or three times if I need them. When we sadly lost our beloved cat to cancer, the assistants even shed tears with us. Don't bat an eyelash about them - Go!

We have been taking our dogs to Dr. McComb for over 6 years now. It is worth the drive from Apache Junction to Chandler every 8-10 weeks (the dogs need Adequan injections for their joints). He is the best vet we have ever been to, and the staff is great too. I have never felt rushed in and out. When I see Dr. McComb with a problem, he always takes his time and makes sure I understand what is going on with my dogs, even if it means drawing out a picture for me! (I'm a visual person!) I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for a vet.

Lou Ann and John W.

My family has been seeing Dr. Mc Comb and Staff ever since he joined our neighborhood shopping center. I can tell you that you will never receive more personal and caring people to give support and aid to you and your pets as this staff. From even laughing at our dogs' name, Dot.Com and yes she is dotted, to welcoming new pets to our families ever expanding love for dogs, to helping us with aggression issues with a Rescued Jack Russell and eventually the need to end his pain. I have never doubted the advice I have received and treasue our relationship with these Doctors. I truly feel you will understand after just one visit the knowledge they have and the connection they make just by talking and touching your pet. You too will be bonded as a family with them as we are.

Ratings_icons Outstanding Clinic

Jamie M.

Was new to area and needed a vet for my senior cat. Looked online and found this site and the rave reviews. Called the clinic and was in later that day. Dr. Core and the rest of the staff at the clinic provided outstanding care for my cat. They worked with me to make the best decisions for my cat's care. My cat was seen at the clinic many times in the last three months of his life. When it came time to put him to sleep we received the same respect and compassion that I'd come to know from our many visits to the clinic. My cat was 18 years old when we started seeing Dr. Core and because of the care he received at McQueen Veterinary Clinic I had three more wonderful months with my precious cat. I have since moved 20 miles away from the clinic but will continue to use the clinic for my other cat. I recommend McQueen Veterinary Clinic without reservation.

This is Dr Scott McComb, owner of the practice.
For all that read these reviews:
Remember, there are two sides to every story. Anonymous (8/12/07) gave a 1 sided, destructive comment about their situation. Had you been present during any of the situation and received an unbiased opinion from both sides, I feel you would form a different opinion of what happened. We are in the business of helping pets. If I made a mistake, I would own up to it.
We offer tours of the clinic at any time and even let you watch procedures if interested.

Very caring and great with our Dog and Cats. They have gone above and beyond to help our pets when they are sick; very accommodating. Very willing to put in the time to talk to our other vet about medical issues with our pets. Takes time to talk to us and never rushes through things. I would Highly recommended them.

After taking our pets to this clinic for a few years, we found out the hard way at a very difficult time, that they really do not care about their customer's pets or owners. I highly recommend taking your pet elsewhere. They seemed like a very caring clinic until they made a mistake (on our poor suffering pet) and would not own up to it at all.

We had worked with Scott McComb for years as our vet. We followed him from another clinic - although they didn't make it easy. He truly cares, is professional, gives personal attention, and is the by far the best vet we have ever had. The clinic is spotless, the technicians really care, and our very spoiled pet got great care. (Our dogs are our children - and we get only the best for them!) We only wish we could have moved him with us when we left the state!!

Kristi B. I just wanted to let you know that McQueen vet clinic now does have separate waiting rooms for the cats and dogs. They expanded the clinic about 6 months ago and now have not only separate waiting rooms but also separate exam rooms, treatment facilities, and recovery areas. Same great staff though!!!

Ratings_icons Good With English Bulldogs

Carol C.

This vet is excellent. The entire staff is patient and friendly. With our 10 month old English Bulldog this is important. After trying a couple other vets, my husband's co-worker recommended McQueen Vet Clinic. No long waits for appointments, prices are good and the staff is great. Our puppy Spencer had eye surgery, was neutered as well as the basic shots etc. It is worth the drive from Awahtukee.

PROS: friendly, helpful, good prices
CONS: far from our home

I have had nothing but outstanding experiences here. The prices are very good and definatly worth the money for the service that you will recieve. I always have good luck getting appointments for when I need them. The office is beautiful looking and very well maintained. This business is an all around success.

We purchased a puppy one afternoon and wanted to have her seen right away and get checked out. When we called this office they said they could get us right in. Everyone there was really nice and caring. The location was great for us, hours and prices are very good compared to some other offices. They've always been able to help us even if we've had a last minute need with our pup. The waiting room is very clean and big enough to accomodate many people and animals. They do not, however, have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs.

PROS: location, prices, really nice people
CONS: cats and dogs have to tolerate each other in the waiting room
