Salon Surreal

I met Francesca on an airplane, flying home from vacation! Talking to her for our whole 4 hr trip she informed me she did hair at a salon that happened to be only a few miles from my home! I have been a little reluctant in the past to strangers and my hair. Seeing that she was so kind when we spoke I decided to give her a try! I've never made a better beauty decision in my life! Just as she was when we met, Francesa greeted me with the most kindness! My hair has never looked better! Not to mention the other services that Salon Surreal has to offer! Its a one stop shop! I was able to get my eye brows waxed along with a medi/pedi (all that I regretfully had put off for several months)! I could not ask for more! I'll be a life time client for sure!

Pros: They are kind, welcoming, and in my budget!

I had never gotten a facial before I went to Ginger. Now I go every month! She is amazing!! She makes me completely relax and feel no stress for the whole hour. She is someone that makes you feel so comfortable and a great listener. She is really easy to talk too. When I leave my face feels WONDERFUL!! I recommend her to everyone I talk too!!!

I recently moved to Phoenix from Chicago and have been terrified to begin working with a new stylist. Jessica @ Salon Surreal was recommended to me by a friend and I absolutely love her! She did a, amazing job with highlights, lowlights and cut. She really cared about what I wanted, listed to what I had to say, and did an amazing job with my hair! I found my new long term stylist and she made is so easy for me!

As a guy it is pretty difficult to find a place that can give you a good price on a haircut and some great styling beyond the typical barber shop flattop.

This is the place, everyone at the salon is friendly and the facility is great as well. Alex has been doing my hair there and she is great, able to do exactly how I request and skilled enough to where I can suggest an idea for her to run with. I always come away with something new and awesome and I can highly recommend the personal service she provides.

Jennie is the best. She really listens to you and gives you exactly what you want without pressuring you to do what SHE thinks will be best for you. If you do want advice, she is very talented, so do what she suggests and you will be very happy with the results!

For her to understand exactly the hair cut I wanted and to make it a reality made my experience at SS so much better. All of the compliments and attention I received after my SS experience made me so happy. I have tried so many different salons but could never find the right hair dresser who would take the time and listen to my hair needs. Stephanie not only put a lot of effort and detail into my hair-cut, but also made me feel so much younger.

Pros: Exceptional hair-stylist for exceptional hair....

Cons: Once you go there you always have to go back...

I've been going to this salon for a few years now and am really happy with it. The current receptionists at the front desk are friendly and helpful. My stylist, Jessica L, always does an excellent job and is so talented. I've never been happier with my hair, and I get compliments all the time. She really listens and makes great recommendations for styles and products and it always works!!! I've recommended Jessica to many friends and they are thrilled with her too.

I'm normally really scared about going to a new hairdresser but after the last girl I went to messed my hair up I wanted to try a new place. I heard Salon Surreal was the best place to go so I scheduled my appointment with Stephanie. She is awesome! She knew exactly what i wanted and made my hair look beautiful! One of the best hairstylists to go to at Salon Surreal.

I have been going to Salon Surreal for over a year now. You will love the atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The place looks very modern and contemporary and just has an overall fun feel inside. The receptionists are always available to help you right away when you are checking in or simply have a question or two. No matter who your stylist is, they will offer you a drink and sometimes even a small snack. They really do their best to make you feel comfortable and make sure you are having a good experience. Not to mention, all of the girls there, and I mean all, look like supermodels. They all look so glamorous and it will make you feel like you are too! Back to the service: it is amazing! My hair has never looked better! My stylist, Stephanie, always knows what to do and makes sure she asks questions to make sure we are both on the same page about what I want. The color always looks absolutely stunning and I couldn't ask for a better job. Go to Salon Surreal! You will not regret it!!!!

I've been going to Salon Surreal for almost 5 years now. Myriah is the best stylist I've ever had. She listens well always has great suggestions for my hair. She is amazing with color as well. I've never had as many compliments on my hair as I have since I started with her.

Kari is a great aesthetician as well and I can highly recommend her too!

Pros: Great customer service, great atmostphere, highly trained stylists

Cons: More expensive than some places, but well worth it!

I first scheduled an appointment with a stylist that I am assured is a talented individual. I am told it will take 2 hours. Almost four hours later, I come out of that salon with $175.00 less in my wallet and a terrible color and cut. The color looked nothing like the color I wanted and the cut had to be hid for 2 weeks before I could get it fixed at another salon. I had stripes at my ends as the corrective bleaching did not go all the way to my ends. Either the cut needed to be shorter or the color needed to be extended. The cut had scissor marks all over it. I wanted choppy, edgy....I ended up with lines and marks. Needless to say, I had to pay again to have it fixed by a professional. Now I have lost all length and have a cut I didn?t want as it was my only chance in fixing the mess created. Long story short, I could have gone to the mall or some discount salon for a better job than what I received and had money left over for something more deserving.
Save yourself the money, time and most important bad work that has to be redone.

Salon Surreal was a great experience for me. Bobby C. has been really great to work with and is always very helpful and has great ideas. I had never had my hair colored before and he helped convince me to give it a try. Wow! I have really been enjoying getting my hair colored. Bobby's cut and style is also been exactly what I wanted. The staff and my experience at the salon has been great from a friendly and welcoming smile when you enter the salon to the music and atmosphere. Bobby is great and I look forward to going back for more. Cheers to Bobby C.!

I am new to PHX (from Orange County) and was worried that I would have to travel back to OC to get my hair done. I worry no longer, this place is the BOMB. It has energy, great decor, and a hair stylist that I would consider top of her class. Of course you want to try to qualify the "hair sergeon" prior to an operation, but the recommendation I received had come from a local celeb. So, knowing that she would not recommend someone she doesn't trust I went with it, and is the main reason I am writing this review. If you want to be able to say " I love my girl" then this is the place and SUNDY is my girl. " I love my girl!!!" I am so happy I found someone... she is so sweet too, and yes guys , SHE IS HOT!!! .

I recently had the Brazilian Straightening Hair treatment with Kari. What a wonderful process. My hair is healthier, straighter, shinier, younger looking....I could go on and on. My hair had just enough curl to always be frizzy. With this process (no chemicals and smells good) my hair is perfectly straight. I have been in the rain and humidity and still straight. Also my hair can be blow dried in half the time and looks good. I love it. Kari truly does magic. Thank you Salon Surreal for making my life much simpler.

I have to admit, despite all of these raving reviews, I was far less impressed than expected. In fact, I was severely dissapointed. I am particular about my hair, and to be honest, it just looked like I dumped some box dye unevenly on to my head and attempted to trim off the ends myself. The over all effect was flat and uneven. I almost want to say tacky because i haven't had a haircut -color job this bad in years...everything was stringy and randomly jagged so that it didn't even look like an edgy layering job, but just trashy. I coudln't wait to get a real cut and to have good coloring done.

I have never been moved to write a review about my hair cut experience before....this is my first! I am for sure someone who has almost no loyalty to a stylist or salon. I will for sure be gong back to Salon Surreal and seeing Bobby C.

had such a wonderful expereince starting from when I called the day I needed an appointment and they were able to get me in relativley when I needed to. I was greeted at the front and was promplty greeted by my stylist at the time of my appointment.

For once, a stylist listned to what I wanted, asked questions about what I liked about my past experiences and what I disliked. I shared with him that I was unhappy with the cut and color that I just very recently paid a very large amount of money as a fancy scmancy north scottsdale solon to get done :(...and he not only asked what I didnt like about it...but he used that information to give me the exact color and cut the I did want. He also went beyond that to guide me about how the cut would look even better for my face shape and what we could do to the color so that I would get the look I was going for.

The price was so much more reasonable than what I paid for my last dissapointing hair cut.

To top it all off I felt comfortable in the environment. I felt that I could share if there was something that I didnt like and they they would honor that by working with me until I was satisfied. For anyone looking for salon I would recommend Salon Surreal and for anyone looking for an amazing stylist I would absolutely recommend Bobby C.

This has to be the best Salon in Arizona. I am one of those "beyond picky" people when it comes to my hair and my loyalty to any one Salon is "0". Not only do they have my loyalty as a repeat client, but people I work with are repeat clients aswell.
You may have tried the rest, but this Salon is the best!

Pros: The skill level, atmosphere, value and friendliness of the staff is second to none.

Cons: Everything at this Salon is perfect!

I've had 2 facials at this salon, with Kelly, and the products she uses smell so good, and my skin always looks great afterwards! She also gave me tips on how to take better care of my skin at home! I haven't gotten my hair done there yet, but Kelly recommended a few people so I'll going soon! I'm hoping one day I'll be brave enough to have her do a Brazilian on me! Yikes! Go check them out!

I recently had the wonderful experience of re-visiting this Salon. I travel to Arizona for business every three months and Stephanie Franklin has treated my hair better than any other hairdresser I've had. She does a fantastic cut, superior color and with my curly/frizzy hair, she has found the perfect products that keep my hair in great condition. I couldn't be more thrilled with the service I've received and I plan to return time and time again.

This salon is really cool!! I have been in several times for cuts and color and was pleased with the outcomes. I was disappointed when I went in for my wedding updo on the day of my wedding. I asked for an updo. I even went in for a trial updo so that I could be prepared for my special day. I totally did not like the updo that my stylist did (stylist-Jessica L.) . She did a better job on the trial day!! I told the stylist to just put my hair down because I did not feel she could do an updo that I would end up liking. She seemed to be pressed for time and gave me the impression that she did not want to recurl my hair. I mean common, this is my wedding day were talking about. I am supposed to look awesome. I feel that she way overcharged me for doing an updo that I did not like that she ended up taking down anyways. She ended up giving me a hairdo that I was ok with but that I could have done on my own. I guess I expected better performance on my wedding day. Just needed to express my feelings on that matter. I intend to go back for cuts and colors.

I found this salon on citysearch and decided to try it out. They were able to fit me in that day and were right on time getting me in on the appointment time. I was offered coffee, tea, and/or water (SO NICE) as i sat down!! There was a tv inbetween the two work stations playing "salon television" which was a nice little touch. My stylist was Kari and she was super nice and friendly. She had some great input into what color and cut was going to make me look the best! It was so simple! Kari showed me techniques to keep my hair looking great too. Overall great experience.

Pros: A very classy but fun salon with knowledgable stylists!

Cons: Was a little hard to find at first-parking can get tight too.

I love this salon! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They were willing to go the extra mile for me when I was indecisive about my hair! Katie is the best, she tamed my wild mame and made me look like a movie star! The color she used was sooo shiney and the cut was flawless! I highly recommend her and the wonderful Salon Surreal!

This Salon and Spa has it all!! I found this salon through city search and went to their beautiful website and was amazed at all of the services they have to offer. I had a special event to go to and was able to get my hair, nails, and make up done on the day of my event. My stylist did my hair exactly how I asked her, my manicure and pedicure was so relaxing and the make up artist made me look so glamorous. Thank you for making my experience such a positive one. This is definitely my new salon.

I went for a trim the other day after finding good reviews at City Search.
My hair stylist shampooed, cut, and styled my hair all in 10-15mins!! It was way too fast since I have long thick hair and it usually takes at least 40min! I don?t know if she was in a rush, but I felt like she didn?t care what she was doing to my hair!
I went home and checked my hair cut in a mirror and found out that the left side and right side length wasn?t the same!! The worst thing was that she charged $50 for this hair cut! I really feel like I got ripped off! I will never ever go back there.

I quit this salon over two years ago. They used to be the best! Great customer service, great stylists, and great products. Then something changed. Around January of 2005 through that summer a lot of faces changed and the whole environment changed. The customer service dropped dramatically. I hung in there for a little bit but it just seemed to get worse. Would not recommend to anyone.

Pros: I always love my hair, everyone's really cool, I never get bumped when I make an appointment - and they even squeeze me in sometimes when I don't. Oh - and muchas gracias for the peach iced tea!

I have been going to Salon Surreal for almost 2 years. Jennifer Jackson is my stylist, she is amazing. I have very difficult hair; thick, and curly. She has done such an amazing job with it! I get at least one compliment everyday on how beautiful my hair is, Jennifer also does my color and hi-lights. My hair is georgeous! She cuts it perfect! It is a wonderful salon and I love the atmosphere! Modern, upscale and professional. Location is great, right off the hwy 51.

If you are looking for a great hair stylist who actually listens to what you want done with your hair, I highly recommend Katie at Salon Surreal. She is a close, personal friend of mine and I finally broke down and went to see her to have my hair done. I have never been happier with my hair color and style. She did exactly what I was hoping for and then some! It looked great and I get compliments on it all the time. The salon is also absolutely gorgeous and all the gals who work there are very friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door! You won't be disappointed if you make an appointment there, I know I haven't!!! =)

This is my new Salon. I found it here on ciy search. I am very picky about my hair, so I was rather nervous about trying someone new. I made an appointment with Bobby. He was so nice and did exactly what I wanted. He hi-lighted my hair and it came out absolutely beautiful. I have had so many compliments on my hair. My husband loved it. Bobby also did a wonderful job on the haircut. I have gone back to Bobby again since the first time and he is just amazing, it's so nice to finally find someone you can trust and know that when you leave, your hair will look beautiful.

FRONT DESK WAS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE AND HELPFUL WITH ALL OUR QUESTIONS! I FELT LIKE I WAS ON AMBUSH MAKEOVER BY THE TIME I WAS DONE. HEAD TO TOE I FELT LIKE A QUEEN! I have been going to this salon for over 2 years. I always recieve the best services with a friendly smile. Ive used several different stylist and they are all very knowledgeable in their work. Classy without being pretentious. Efficient without being regimented. This salon is one of the best I have ever seen. My hairstyle with Kelly was excellent. Kari gave me a facial that was professional and relaxing. I like the fact that they are open on Mondays, and have extended hours till 8pm. I would highly recommend their services and staff.

This is a rare find. I liked it better than a resort spa. They even do Make-up. Check this place out. I was able to get in the same day for my hair but they weren't able to fit me in for nails.

Every time I've been in Salon Surreal everyone has been very nice to me. I've never seen or heard of anyone being treated bad. I've followed my girl from other salons to Surreal and I'm here to stay even if she moves again! Great Salon, great atmosphere, very reasonable prices. And no pressure to buy product!

Pros: Experienced stylists and very professional

Cons: Kind of a drive for me, but oh well.

My fiance and I stopped by Salon Surreal looking for someone to do my wedding hair and make-up. When we asked the front desk lady a couple of questions, she seemed more interested in talking to her co-worker, and did not pay attention to us. It seemed like she couldn't care less. She also told me she could not give us any prices, because apparently their stylists are all 'independent'. We were upset with the lack of customer service, and left the salon to go look somewhere else.

I had a great low key high quality day Spa experience here. I will totally go back. Service was good. Location can not be beat. The prices were good if not a little low - for sure lower from the big resort spas. Once past the front desk salon smell, the day spa area is well done. I wish there was more focus on it and not just on hair and girl stuff. Men go to day spas too. If you go make sure you schedule with Shala - call in advance as I found out when calling that she is not working everyday and gets booked up in advance.

If you sweat the $8 cut, then you probably don't get out much. Invest in a flowbee you'll get a better cut and can save even more $ over time. NOW, if you want to know where the beautiful people you see out at night, come from? This place is it! I've been going for over a year and every time I go in I see another local celeb. Looking good helps your day job and your night LIFE!

I have been going to this Salon for years. I have never been treated poorly or waited a long time and have never been disappointed by my stylist, Donald. I found them in the book, asked for someone who was experienced with long hair (ie, someone who would not chop it all off) and have been going there ever since. I would not trust anyone else with my hair! On occasion I will also get manicures and waxes done. The make-up artist, Lisa is wonderful as are her products. They did my hair, nails and makeup for my wedding, as well as for my bridesmaids. I even take my 8 year old daughter there. The price of a child's cut is not unreasonable and they do a great job with her as well!

I called and the same day got an appointment. The stylist they placed me with was great, and I gave her free reign to do what she wanted, and it turned out great. I plan on making this my hair place.
