I make it a habit to stop by Historic District Antique Mall at least once a week. The mall is small enough to keep you from feeling overwhelmed, yet large enough to feature a MASSIVE range of merchandise. They have everything from dinky pleasures such as chalkware figures and old knicknacks to authentic African tribal artifacts and their specialty: retro furniture and accessories. The owner's bring great justice to the term "something for everyone;" They even have DVDs and sports memorabilia (Pete Rose and Willie Mays signed jerseys!) Honestly, WAY too much stuff to elaborate on. Point is: I always find something to take home, and their prices are extremely unpretentious (a constant conundrum in the Arizona antique market). A 'must stop' if you're ever in the neighborhood.
Historic District Antique Mall has one of the largest and most various selection of antiques in all of Phoenix, and certainly the best selection of antiques in downtown Phoenix. It's easily navigable and much larger than it looks from the outside. The only problem is that most of their stock is priced to market and it would be surprising to find something that flew under the radar of the owners.
I live nearby and I love to stop in once or twice a month just to stroll through the booths and look around for good finds and inspiration. Most of the booths are very reasonably priced, although a couple are a little more expensive than I think they should be. There is a great diversity of items throughout the store and I always find something that makes me smile.
To respond to other reviews about the staff - I have NEVER had a negative encounter at this establishment. In fact, the staff go out of their way to say hello and ask if you need assistance. I've asked questions about items before and they were very kind (and quick) to call the booth owners to get answers if they could not answer them on their own.
It's not a HUGE antique mall, but it's definitely worth a visit. I love the place.
This is a really fun store-It covers from the standard antique and collectible faire to things I have never seen before! In most cases the prices are the best around and the store is clean and well lit. In the past, I must confess I have been the kind of person to not share my favorite places with everyone on the internet. Lately, however, with the lousy economy, too many of my "favorites" are disappearing. I really want this one to stay around. So-you owe it to yourself to check this place out- just please leave some of the really good stuff for me.
First let me say that I am the owner of this mall and I am very proud of it. "Mr Freedom" apparently believes that by slandering and defaming people that he is in some way benefiting the world. I have NEVER told a customer wanting to make a purchase that they would have to call back at another time. However, we do have a rule that on Saturdays' because our sales volume and number of shoppers is very high that we will not accept solicitation phone calls and we will not look at merchandise that people bring in to sell. We have these rules exactly so that staff is available to help people wanting to make purchases. I have no memory or knowledge of any sort of incident "Mr Freedom" is describing. We have sublet space to an independent Ebay selling operation which of late has been inconsistant and has made some embarrasing mistakes which have reflected negatively on this mall. They have been given a 30 day notice to vacate! Perhaps "Mr Freedoms" problems were with the Ebay seller and not myself. We have one of the best stores in the area and I would invite anyone reading this to visit us and make up their own mind regarding this malcontents comments. "Mr freedom" -if you are not satisfied with this response I suggest that you pursue this matter privately as this forum is public record and allegations that you cannot substantiate are actionable in a court of law. By the way-Thank-you for at least allowing that we have interesting merchandise. Ihad to rate myself to get the system to accept this- so why not5 stars
It is a decent store but the adult male could not be more rude. I made some major purchases on a Saturday and had a few more items on my mind the next day in consideration. When I called to ask a question he said listen buddy call back during the week when I'm less busy. My thought is good for you that business is good perhaps maybe you should hire another employee to help. The day before when I had my money ready and able he was quite willing to help. I don't necessarily mind the message it's the tone and your not important attitude. They say a negative experience will be more advertised. I'm making sure his rude behavior is amplified. That's just no way to run a business. I need my question answered today and that will not happen. I will take my business elsewhere.

Pros: Decent Selection
Cons: The Male Owner is Self Centered and Rude
