Ratings_icons POS Barry Frank's Motors

Mr. E.

Barry Frank is a rip off. In addition, he is a whiner. It is damn near painful just to listen to him, because you'll never get a word in. He constantly is looking to nickel and dime you with extras. I bought a rebuilt engine from him and within two weeks there was ring or valve noise and the car would lose power. I took it back to him over and over and over. He makes notes on the work orders that are false and designed to keep him from liability. Then, he finally admitted he installed the wrong head gasket, but, did not admit that the engine was damaged. Instead, he put the car back out on the street over and over and waited until he claimed it was just out of warranty. This guy is a real POS - run like hell fire as fast as you can away from him.

Ratings_icons BEWARE: Performed Extra $ Work $ without Aproval SCHMUCK ALERT!

Mickey S.

Just like the previous review -- took advantage of a little 22 yr old. First quoted $500-$600, then said some ^$%( about needing to add some extra screws around the timing belt -- would add up to around $800 -- threatened that it would not be drivable without these screws. While trying to assess if the car was worth putting more than $500 into repairs -- they performed the work without approval. Then they said, we can "undo" the work if you don't want to pay the $800. This place REEKS as unethical. Beware! Is there a law against this? Should be!

Ratings_icons Started work (and bill) on car without consent

Jim B.

I was very disappointed when Barry Franks started on car work without consent. I received a call citing that there were problems x,y,z and I should get a tune-up for $150. While I do not doubt that a tune-up was due, most cost between $40-70! But above all, NO ONE should "repair" your car without consent. I was constantly encouraged to be "up-sold" by "extras" that might improve my car's performance and felt like I was at a shady used car lot!
