I bought a set of Zipp wheels from the shop, After 900 miles I lost a spoke on the front wheel. The shop had some difficulty getting the spoke from Zipp, but because of the delay the shop fixed it all at no cost to me.
I am not a racer for the shop, and this has been my only interaction with the guys. I was very pleased that they did take the consideration in customer service. The whole fix was $13 dollars but I will certainly spend that and more in the future with this shop.

When I bought my first road bike I had no idea the discomfort I was in for, nor what a good "fit" for a road bike actually was. After my fit appointment with store owner Joe, I rediscovered the joy of riding my bike. The bonus of this refit comfort BTW, was speed.

I bought my new bike, a Cervelo R3, from Wheelworks (fit now included in the price - a pleasant surprise after paying for my first fit) and realized that in addition to having extraordinary bike fit expertise and store inventory, this shop does what few in the country do: They tailor the parts of the bike to your ride style (or asthetic sense) WITHOUT charging you twice. Example: I wanted to swap out the black saddle for a white seat and they gave me fair wholesale price for the black saddle and charged me the difference for the white one.

Sounds routine, but almost every road store I've ever heard of will tell you what's on the bike on the showroom floor, is what you buy. Anything extra... you *also* buy. With my new Wheelworks purchase, I swapped out the seat, bar tape, and stem without having to purchase two of everything.

Of course the parts where all integrated into my fit making it a fantastic experience. One note is that you do need to be patient if you go in on a weekend afternoon as there is almost a frenzy of "me, me, me" cyclists vying for employee attention. Make a weekday appointment if you can arrange the time.

If you buy it do not plan on taking it back. I have purchased many items including a bike etc. from there over the past 3 years. I recently purchased an item that did not work. I returned it one week after I purchased it. Kevin said I could take it back then someone named Joe said that I could not a month and a half later. My advice is that you do not buy from them in the first place.

Flatly one of the broadest road, time-trial, and tri-bike selections I've ever seen - however advice and "fitting" that comes with your purchase make this store wholeheartedly worth the visit. Can be intimidating for new cyclists, but if you get past the intimidating selection their staff can guide you through their inventory.

You do have to be assertive if you go on a weekend as the store can be crammed with cycling enthusiasts, but you can make appointments if you want personal attention. Beware that the Wheelworks staff might spend the better part of a day with you however, fitting you on several different bikes... My wife bought a bike there and she was fitted on and rode four different bikes over 5 hours. At day's end we looked around and the store was closed, but some staff stayed while she made her selection. Great commitment to fit and individual customer style (the stylish bike wear, you see, can be perused between fittings and test-rides).

Inseparable from her bike now, and wants a TT bike since their owner specializes in TT & tri-bike fittings. For those easily addicted to fit and style - be warned.

've only had FABULOUS experiences with the guys down at Davis Wheelworks. I've probably been in there about a dozen or so times over the past year. Every time I'm greeted warmly by the staff and they are always eager to help me. They have an extensive knowledge of everything to do with cycling from parts to bike to racers to racing and anything in between. I've purchased a couple of bikes from them and am I always pleased with the selection, fittings, service and maintenance I've received. I swear Joe lives, eats, and breaths cycling. John, Andrew, Kevin, Tim and Joe are the best mechanic that has ever touched my bikes. No matter what I do to thrash my bike they always find away to fix it. Joe, Dan, Kevin, Steve, Mango, and Julian really know their products and are awesome at fitting. I can't sing their praises enough. If you want a good road, triathlon, time trial or mountain bike these are the guys to go to. If your bike doesn't fit you right they can probably help you. If you bike isn't running as good as could they can help. If you are comfortable for the conditions they have the clothing for the season. If you are like me by the time you leave the only thing wrong with your riding is going to be the rider.

I bought an expensive frame from Davis Wheelworks. I brought my bike to get tuned up a few months later. At that time I found out their was a problem with the carbon being ripped apart on the Seat Tube. Here is where the problems begin.
1. They blamed me. Said I tightened the seat clamp to tight when building the bike. They are the ones who put on the seat clamp initially.

2. They shipped the bike back to Cervelo, telling me the chances Cervelo would warranty would be 50/50. I called cervelo personally. They said they would always warranty it. NO PROBLEM.

3. Went in and told them that I wanted a smaller frame. The manager was very arrogant! Said a proper fitting would be 3.5 hours. They spent 30 minutes fitting me the first time and gave me a frame too big. I have been riding the smaller frame for two weeks with no problem. He was just too LAZY to make a phone call or email Cervelo. Had to demand it!

4. When I brought in new handlebars they told me they sucked. The handlebars are Easton EC 90 which are great!

5. When the frame came in they told me it would be at least a week to build. This is after it took three weeks to get.

6. They were upset that they did not build the bike back up. Did not bother to make sure the seatpost was shipped with the frame. I had to make 3 trips back to Davis to get parts of my bike they forgot to include.

7. They cleaned my cassette, but told me I needed a new one. They stuck my old one back without greasing it. Furthermore, they over tightened it. It took 10 minutes to loosen it.

They have nice bikes at Davis Wheelworks and it is the only Cervelo dealership around the Sacramento area. They are just very arrogant and rude. Next time I would go spend my $3,200 in the Bay Area. I would recommend driving to Brentwood CA in the Bay Area and go to Real Bike & Tri Shop. After all my problems my friend did and was very satisfied. They actually spent an hour fitting him.

These bikes here are amazing and the best bikes you will find in Davis if you are serious about cycling. This isn't your freshman girl with a mini skirt and ugg boots type bike shop, so don't bother unless you like to sweat and ride hard. Great stuff and you pay for excellence.

A great store for the serious cyclist, these guys have tons of road bikes, cycling clothes, helmets, and all the accessories you might need. The friendly staff of riders will help you, and can provide you with personal reviews of most of the equipment. A great place to go if you are looking for that special, fast road bike, or a fancy mountain bike to go ripping down some single track.
