In Short
The Terminator and the Incredible Hulk (aka Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno) lifted weights at the gym's Venice, California, flagship years ago, but even today, customers frequenting charter locations are bound to encounter serious muscle. Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.

This facility will unfairly take your money

by S S.

Gold's gym expects every one of their members to memorize and recall every line in a contract you sign a year after you've signed it. Don't be taken like I was. They will continue to bill you after you've completed your year long contract, regardless.

Great gym

by N. K. | insider Insider | Rank: 20,776

The Gold's Gym in Thousand Oaks is a fairly new and well-managed gym. They have a wide variety of free weights and machines, and also a hot tub and a 3 lane pool. Prices are reasonable and the clientel is a varied mix of men, women, young, and old.

PROS:
CONS: Sometimes too busy in the evening

Gold's Gym at Janss Marketplace looks really nice when you walk in. The equipment is basically all new and well-kept and matches the dark decor. It's a decently sized building, but at peak times there are not enough machines, lanes in the pool, bikes in the spinning room or space in the aerobics room to go around. The muscle men and the hot moms that populate the builiding are not all that intimidating after a while.

Pros: clean, nice machines

Cons: expensive, crowded
