Tito?s Tacos has provided their loyal and beloved customers with appetizing Mexican food prepared fresh daily from treasured, top-secret recipes since 1959. This delicioso Mexican food has become a longtime family favorite for people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds looking for a traditional South-of-the-Border eating experience without leaving the greater Los Angeles Area. Tito?s Tacos? cuisine is slow-cooked to perfection each and every day of the week, making their delicious tacos, burritos, enchiladas and tostados taste consistently scrumptious. The salsa is made many times a day from fresh tomatoes and spices. Our chili con carne is made daily from the freshest meat we can buy. The tacos are hand made daily. We do not use freezers. Our goal is to provide the freshest, tastiest food at a price that makes it affordable to feed the whole family.

At almost any hour, this humble stand is surrounded by a diverse throng of devoted diners--yuppies seeking a quick lunch, families enjoying a thrifty dinner, young couples exchanging glances over a late-night bite. Since there are only a few picnic tables outside and only a few more inside, most people stand and eat. Twenty bucks buys just about one of every item on the menu with change to spare. Besides bargain-basement prices, the secret to Tito's success is its tasty, no-nonsense Mexican fare. Stuffed with shredded beef, the hard-shell tacos are so petite it's not uncommon for customers to order quantities in the double digits. Enchiladas are filled with neon-orange cheese and blanketed in a mildly piquant red sauce. Burritos come crammed with zesty stewed meat and oily refried beans. All orders come with a mound of freshly fried chips and tomato salsa.

Kind of a one-trick pony, but what a GOOD TRICK! I can't go more than once a month because everything has that Tito's flavor, but when I'm in the mood for Tito's tacos, nothing else will do.

"I love Tito's Tacos, you'll love Tito's too." Yes, it's the long loved Culver City local taco place, Tito's. Their salsa is famous as well and I also love their guacamole. Tito's is a place that doesn't change, other than more and more generations loving this place as much as I do!

This place does not change! I have been purchasing taco's for over 20 years and the flavor remains the same. If you want to take some with you, just order them without the cheese and lettuce and you can freeze them!

Ratings_icons Not authentic, but a local landmark.

Milo M.

Like many who grew up in this area, I have a fondness for Tito's since my parents brought me here all the time. I hadn't been back for about 15 years, and was surprised to find that my memories are inaccurate. This food in not authentic at all, and hardly better than Taco Bell. But it was worth going there for the nostalgia!

Ratings_icons Extra Lard Anyone?

Nobbie K. | insider Insider | Rank: 29,285

Please. This place is why cardiologists stay in business. You might as well eat a cup of salt and wash it down with a gallon of lard. I know there's a huge "comfort food
" following for this place. But, frankly, it's terrible and totally unhealthy for you to eat there. I grew up on Macdonalds burgers and fries. I haven't had one in five years. And, honestly, I don't miss it.

If you are ever in the Culver City area this is the place to eat. Every time I am down that way I have to have it. The taocs and burritos are very good. The burritos are the next day when you heat up to eat. I went there two time's in one day. I grew up eating Tito's Tacos.

Ratings_icons Great Cheap "Mexican"

Jennifer H. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,593

I would agree that this probably isn't very authentic. But, take it for what it is: Fast, cheap and plentiful.

I've been eating here since I can remember. My personal favorites are the guacamole, cheese enchilada and rice. Be wary, it is greasy, but in the best way possible.

Watch out for long lines at lunch and dinner times.

If you are just looking for a small Mexican joint that has decent tacos then this is the place. There is always a line and seating is hard to find but that's with any small place you go. The tacos are good and the food is cheap.

supposedly the most famous taco place in LA, titos is a pretty good place to go if you like mexican. They have very few options however, no chicken only beef, which sucks if you are a vegetarian. However, the tacos and burritos (veggie also) are good.

Ratings_icons Best Mexican Foo in town.

Skexer

been going there since i was a little kid , and the food gets better and better.

Pros: tasty food, always satisfies

Cons: long lines, restruant always full.

Ratings_icons Sometimes you just gotta give in...

Sheauen

There's not much to say about Tito's Tacos. It is what it is. Its fried tacos, enchillads, and burritos.

I usually get one of each. It hits the spot during those late night snack attacks.

Its not fancy, its not meant to be gourmet. Its a local standby thats been around forever. Its legendary. You go to get your titos fix (i know a guy who comes into town every couple of months from new york and titos is the first place he stops).

Its just plain good. So simple, so good.

Pros: Hits the spot everytime.

Cons: parking situation, long lines

Ratings_icons SO good, so bad

JonSoleymani

Great, cheap tacos, but the food is SO unhealthy that you can't have it often. Now, 2 am after a night of drinking is a GREAT time for it. Try it instead of Taco Bell

Pros: Quick, cheap, easy tacos

Cons: So unhealthy its scary

Ratings_icons Yuck!

poppycock

Not only is the jingle for the commercial really annoying, but the food is TERRIBLE at Tito's Tacos! I really have no idea why it is so popular, but you will definitely have to wait in line to be handed food that is really not very good at all! Both the chicken and the beef were pretty much without any flavor at all, and the hard tacos were essentially fried shut. The burrito was mostly beans, with chunks of what I guess was beef but was basically tasteless. I think the best thing we had was the guac, but even smearing this all over everything didn't really help.

Pros: sorta cheap

Cons: greasy, flavorless, long line

Ratings_icons Good Stuff!

Ratings_icons Culver City's best!

There's always a long line when I go to Tito's Tacos and good luck with parking.

The food is THAT AMAZING. Cash only. Nothing more I can say. You really do have to try it if you haven't yet. Soooo good!

Pros: Food

Cons: Waiting?

Ratings_icons WHEN AND WHY TITOS LOST IT...

jass123

BEEN GOING THERE SINCE IT WAS ON THE CORNER BACK IN 1959..AMAZING ALWAYS GREAT HUGH LINES..THEN...ABOUT..12 YEARS AGO OR SO THE MANAGER WAS LET GO IN FAVOR OF A RELATIVE... OVERNIGHT IT BECAME JUST ANOTHER TACO STAND..AT BEST!! I CONTINUED TO GO..MAYBE 4 TIMES A YEAR HOPING FOR A RETURN TO THE OLD TACOS AND REALLY LONG LINES..NOPE....ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I MET SOMEBODY WHOS FATHER USE TO WORK THERE... HE SAID THE OLD COOK ''MANAGER'' WAS MEXICAN AND HAD A SPECIAL WAY OF COOKING BUT WAS FIRED.....R.I.P...TITOS......AT LEAST JOHNNYS PASTRAMI IS STILL THE SAME.....

Pros: THE PAST

Cons: THE PRESENT

Ratings_icons Went there once...

mrnickels

Kept seeing the lines and figured I'd have to go there and check it out for myself.

Finally I went in and ordered something.

It was mediocre at best.

Never went back.

Maybe they have some good stuff on the menu, but what I had didn't inspire me to return. What more can I say?

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Not that good

Ratings_icons Good Tacos

TacoTime

I'm new to Los Angeles and have been looking for a good taco place. I saw the commercial on TV and had to try it. I arrived to see long lines and thought this is a good place. When I got my food, the tacos were good, but I loved the amount of chips and salsa that they give you. I also liked the avocado sauce, I wouldn't call it guacamole, because it's not chunky but more of a sauce. I liked this sauce very much. I will have to go back and try a burrito.

Pros: chips, salsa, avocado sauce

Cons: long lines, parking lot

Ratings_icons Seriously overrated

djgranados

If you enjoy taco bell, you'll enjoy tito's tacos. Authentic mexican it most certainly is not. I'd actually much rather eat at taco bell beacuse it's cheaper. Waiting in those lines is a complete waste of time. Overall a sad, flavorless sham of mexican food.

Cons: waiting in line for food worse than taco bell?

Ratings_icons Like Sheep Standing In Line For No Reason

I've lived in SoCal my whole life but had never been to Tito's. When friends took me there awhile back I was expecting something really good. But alas, this place is nothing but pure hype... I don't get it.

I figure sometimes a place becomes popular just because it has been around for a long time, or maybe the prices are cheap. You might say Taco Bell and McDonalds fall into that category. But being popular does not always mean that it is very good, obviously.

I enjoy hard shell tacos, but I freely admit that they aren't very "authentic" in terms of Mexican food. But then again what is authentic in America. For my money I would rather have the hard shell tacos at Pepe's in Alhambra. Yeah I know, another local place that has been around forever (since 1964), but still better, and many more options on the menu.

Pros: Tying it won't cost you much money

Cons: Once you try it you'll wish you hadn't wasted your money

Ratings_icons It's all about the nostalgia and the salsa

Marti66

You know, I have been going to Tito's for 30 plus years. I love it there! But I can almost guarantee that it's mostly the true westside locals who say that they "love it there"! My husband and I always run into people that we haven't seen in years when we go.

I really like the (real tortilla) tacos and burritos, but it's the salsa that I keep going back for. It's not spicy - but it is REALLY tasty. I know that it's not authentic Mexican food. That doesn't make it bad food. You have to try it once. You will either love it, or be let down. There is a lot of hype behind this place, and that is not always a good thing. I am one of those that has to take everyone who comes into town to TIto's. I must say - that everyone that I have taken, has loved it.

I have had excellent Mexican food at home and all over L.A. and I will also recommend King Taco to those who are looking for a "true" taco. But if you are just looking for good tasting CalMex - You have to try Tito's.

By the way, you will NOT find fish tacos at Tito's.

Pros: Salsa

Cons: Parking

Ratings_icons Tacos

OMG their fish tacos are the best in town! They pile on the guacamole and its so flavorful! If you're in the area, this is a must!

Ratings_icons HIGHLY RECOMMEND

you must go to this place, their guacamole is insane. there isn't much of a menu selection, but all of it is so good. wednesday is tito's taco night with some friends

Ratings_icons umm...r u serious?

All I have to say is that cheddar cheese is NOT mexican!!! I hate when "Mexican" restaurants use cheddar cheese. No where in Mexico do they use cheddar cheese! King Taco is way better. Go there instead.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Everything else.

Ratings_icons Loves it!

Ratings_icons Tacos and Guacamole Sauce

Yum! I've been going to Tito's Tacos forever and the food is consistant. Thank you for keeping the same flavor and what I've remembered over the years.

Pros: Tacos, chips, bean and cheese burritos

Cons: long lines

Ratings_icons I waited in long lines for THIS?

JoshG27

I went there about a year ago after hearing all the hype, man, I've had better Tacos from Ralphs. The line is long (for some reason), the service isn't great and the food is incredibly bland. The enchiladas tasted like they were cold and microwaved! They definitely are NOT authentic Mex food (I grew up in Van Nuys), but regardless it's BLAND. If the line was short and I wanted cheap edible food I'd MAYBE go again, but in my opinion one of the most overhyped institutions in LA, and that's saying a LOT. How do these guys do so much business? My buddy in Culver City loves this place and I cannot comprehend why. FYI my roomate feels the same way I do.

Pros: It's cheap

Cons: Everything else

Ratings_icons Most Overrated Restaurant in LA

succafooschnookem

I've never understood how this place gets such great reviews from people. Better than Taco Bell or Del Taco tacos but that is where it ends (dollar for dollar I'll take Del Taco). Most catering trucks (rhymes with flow but is considered inappropriate) this place out of the water. Just another example of LA "institutions" and how 9 of 10 are lame...

Actually, if you're bringin' some midwesterner relatives that have never had real Mexican food, they'll love it!!!

Pros: Your grandmother will love it (if she's not a latina)

Cons: Not worthy of the hype

Ratings_icons Worst Mexican food if you want to call it that

bushcheated2004

Having moved to the westside a few years back I decided to try this place even though I had lived all of my life on the eastside and knowing what great Mexican food was. I was truly dissapointed and found myself comparing this place to the likes of Del Taco and Taco Bell which does not say a lot. Service was even worse having to stand in a long line for for highly condemented Americanized Mexican food and then getting served by disgruntled employee who was probably tired of the long lines. All I can say is if you are not a Westsider and and if you have been used to the likes of King Taco, Tacos Michoacan, El Tepeyac and other better more authentic mexican eateries you should probably avoid this place.

Ratings_icons Decent

LeoA

I heard about this place for a while but come on people this is not real mexican food lol . Its good but not all that good. I've had better tacos off random lunch trucks in Los angeles however it is very tasty and I will go there again and there prices are decent too. I give it a B flat as a grade. Thanks

Ratings_icons Why so popular?

juliedakota

I've seen the commercials, read the reviews and heard from my friends about how good Tito's is. So, I accompanied a friend to Tito's one night to check the place out. The enchiladas were pretty good, and individually wrapped but I cannot get over the fact that the guacamole was horrible! It was given in a large container, but to counteract the volume the guacamole was watery. Who serves watery guacamole?

Ratings_icons No Place Like Titos

janaschreiber8

I will forever refer to Titos as the BEST Mexican food there is..EVER! I have been coming here since I was little because most of my extended family lives in Culver City and this is the place to go when you have a hungry herd on your hands. The lines are always super long but always worth the wait- their shreeded beef tacos are incredible as are their bean burritos- my personal favortie! I love everything about this place and will be going here with my children and their children and their children's children- it is a part of my history and you should make it a part of yours!

Pros: Mexican doesn't get much better than Titos!

Ratings_icons Disgusting food

rodriguez24

This place is very popular and I have never understood why. I have had the displeasure of eating their food about 8 times because it is so popular that friends from out of town sometimes ask me to take them. One time we ordered beans and found a big [apparently that word is filtered] floating at the top. At the top! How does the person serving the food let that pass? I went back and complained and they simply offered me more beans; not even and apology. That was the last time I went there, now I refuse to take people even if they ask me. I simply tell them the food is disgusting and I won't spend a single dollar there.

Pros: Nothing at all

Cons: The food

Ratings_icons Spans Generations!!

amysparkle75

I have been going to Tito's tacos since I was a little girl and I am not 32 years old. I live in Southern Oregon and would travel every summer and some holidays down to Los Angeles to visit my Grandparents and the high light of our trip was not Disneyland( although very fun :)) it was going as a family to Tito's Tacos. There have been times where my parents would go down to LA without us and would bring their tacos home for us just so we could experience them. Their food is not cuisine by any means but very good. So inexpensive and always available. I am now a mother of two and they love it just as much as I always have. If you get a chance to stop by there.. DO IT! You wont be sorry.. you will love it! The salsa and chips are to die for!!!

Ratings_icons An LA institution, Good food but not Great food

antonioferre

The food is good overall ,but I don't understand why there are lines all day and night. This is the place to go for late night meals when all the other places are closed. I would rate it slightly above average.

Ratings_icons CLOSED MIND PEOPLE

monis1981

I have been going to Tito's for as long as I can remember and the food is awesome! I don't think it's the greatest mexican food out there but it's good and at a great price. Others might think Taco Bell is better and better for u sure if u liked canned meat. I'm mexican and Taco Bell puts Mexican food to shame. Tito's is good food and great service.

Ratings_icons I don't get it...

SimplySusie

...why with all the top-notch tacos in this town, Tito's is so popular. They make these really simple, hard shell tacos with ground beef that just aren't that good. they might be good to people who haven't had a real taco, but in LA that is inexcusable.

Spend your money at one of the multitudes of great taco joints on the west side. Tito's is definitely not one of them.

Pros: Easy to access location in Culver City/ West LA

Cons: Bad tacos

Ratings_icons Mediocre at best

scope213

This is definitely a neighborhood thing...people go there cause there isn't any other decent taco joint nearby. Tacos are better at King Taco, etc. If you want crunchy tacos go to Taco Bell...probably a bit more healthier too lol.

Pros: Quick food

Cons: Crowded when busy

Ratings_icons It Hits the Spot

mugflub

The sauce is what does it for me. The tacos are crunchy, juicy and delicious. For a small price, you'll get some of the freshest, best-tasting tacos you've ever had. You won't leave disappointed. They only take cash.

Pros: Delicious food, inexpensive.

Cons: Always crowded, they only take cash.

Ratings_icons best cheap taco over

journeys

if you haven't been here, go. just buy 4 tacos and dump the ridiculously amazing salsa they give you for your chips ALL over the tacos, and you'll indulge in the best taste sensation you've ever had for 6 dollars. they're only 1.80 with cheese. lines long but move quick.

Pros: salsa, meaty juicy amazing tacos

Cons: charge extra for refills really cheap business practice

Ratings_icons This is it???

dgc1987

My girlfriend had been talking about this place for months before I finally stopped by on the way home. There was a huge line, but it went really quick. But once I got home and started eating, I realized why the line moved so fast. The food was pretty pathetic (we had tacos, tamales, etc.) and it did have any good seasoning. I think the catchy jingle has people convinced that the food is good, but it ain't.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Food

Ratings_icons Not Impressed

wennie904

I tried Tito's Taco for the first time and I have to say that I am very disappointed. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time since it got tons of good reviews online.

Their famous hard shell taco is just a better version of Taco Bell's taco. It consist of a little shredded beef, lettuce and cheese. To me, rather than Mexican food, it taste a lot more like American fast food. The taco is way to greasy for my taste since it is deep fried. I could still taste the oil after 2 cups of tea after my meal.

I have no idea what's with all the hypes. It is definitely not the best taco place in L.A. It is not horrible, I wouldn't mind eating it. However, I would not make special trips for it, nor waiting 45min in line for it.

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: EVERYTHING

Ratings_icons Don't believe the hype

johnevbb

Never have I been to such an over hyped place that at least didn't live up to the reputation even a little bit. I'm still confused as to why this place had a large line in front of it when I first got there. There's a couple Mexican places around the corner that have to better than this place. I tried both the tacos and the burritos, both plain and without much flavor. I ordered the meat burrito, which is simply just meat in a tortilla, and a couple beef tacos. The tacos were just beef, lettuce and cheese. I prefer the Mexican food I eat to have a little substance to it, rather than slapping a single ingredient in a tortilla and calling it a burrito. If you really want to eat some good Mexican with the same sort of flair as Tito's, try Adalberto's in San Diego, you definitely won't be disappointed there.

Pros: Popular Location

Cons: Bad parking, and chaotic service.

Ratings_icons greasy tacos

Cons: i ate it
