Mary Esther's Dressmaker

Mary Esther has been my dressmakerfor many years and she is a one of a kind. In this ready-to-wear world, it is so hard to find anyone who has the skill to really create designer quality clothing. She copied a vintage suit I had that demanded inset buttonholes. No one does that anymore. No one knows how to put in the little touches that make a suit set right or a dress fit comfortably but hang elegantly for the kind of material you select.

She made several evening gowns for me of beautiful silk, copied a few suits and made several summer dresses. Then she also tailored some suits I inherited from my mother that are of very nice wool. She has made cushion covers, pillows, a bedspread and other house hold items for me, all done with a very fine skill.

I write this review with great respect for Mary Esther and a little bit of regret - because she is so wonderful that I don't want her to get too busy! Her prices are reasonable as well. Once people find her and realize that you don't have to go to Hong Kong to get a great dressmaker, I know she will be flooded with business! She is right here in San Jose.

Mary Ester's did my sister's wedding dress and all the bridesmaid's dresses, and will soon be doing mine. Although I will be getting married in Tahoe, I will definitely go back to her, she did an excellent job with my sister.
