A friend of mine went to pick up my dog for me Sunday at the Animal Den, and told me the girl at the front desk reeked of alcohol, I will not be going back!!! All employees should be drug and alcohol screened when working with animals and public on a regular basis!

The Animal Den is a good place to board. They are friendly and you can tell they love animals. They arnt expensive,so they book up fast. I would recommend them if you are looking for a new frills, clean and friendly place to board your dog. They are the only place I will take my dog to.
When we had our 2 dogs and they needed a bath or haircut... We never thought to take them anywhere else. As someone who hates having tons of hair around the house, I always dreaded giving by dogs a bath because of the enourmous amount of shedding for the rest of the day, so I took them to Animal Den because they were so reasonably priced. Most of the time they are able to make you an appointment for the following day. They do an excelent job of helping you to and from your car with your pet (if you need it)! Their great price includes your dogs nail trim, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. They are also great at brushing out all that loose hair. When I would pick my dogs up from them, they would look and smell wonderful and have no clumps of hair coming out as they did when I bathed them. And they always knew who I was coming to pick up. Also super fast! I would reccomend Animal Den to absolutely anyone!!!!!

Our border collie LOVES to go to the Animal Den! She enjoys her doggie friends & playtime when we need to leave her for day care or overnights. The groomers are superb. Lisa, Karen & the rest of the staff are professional, caring & considerate. For the past 2 years our border collie has consistently rated the Animal Den a 5-Star experience!
I went in to visit and saw dogs in kennels that were not clean, dogs that were stuck in small crates in their kitchen due to over booking. The girl at the front desk was very rude to me and another customer, questioning her dogs hair clip, she was very unhappy with it.
This place is cold and the kennel areas are cement, I would never kennel my dogs here.

Cons: Overall disappointing
This is one of the cleanest facilities in Sacramento. The staff was wonderful on the phone and even better in person. After I toured the facility I made my reservation on the spot. I toured 3 other kennels that day and wasnt impressed at all!! I have a lab who is full of energy and this was the perfect place for her.
Pros: Clean and safe
Cons: No Grass, but they said it was because it is impossible to keep santized
my dog can be a bit of a spaz but she loves animal den and all of the employees seem to love her. it is the only kennel i would leave her at in the sacramento area.
during her last visit i whined and cried the whole time. but when i picked her up she had just finished eating, was munching on a toy, and was drifting off to sleep on a big furry bed. i'm not sure she even noticed i was missing.
they offer grooming and have a vet as well.
Pros: facility is always clean, all of the animals seem happy
Cons: i wish office hours were longer
