This place is disgusting. I went several times and they forgot about our food. They dont even apologize or anything. The second time i went the bathroom was a mess and the waiter brought us someone elses order instead of ours. He asked if we could just take the wrong order!!! I dont think so. The third and final time I went we found hair on our food. Yuck. We were able to take a quick glance at the kitchen area and it was the most disgusting thing I ever saw the cook had long hair nothing holding it back. The food is definitely no fresh! Take my advice DONT GO Or Else you'll be feeling sick for a few days.

Before coming to this restaurant, I was a little apprehensive after reading all the negative reviews.
Fortunately, it was not as bad as I thought.

This is a specialty food restaurant which is to say that they do very well on some dishes if you know what those are. We had a party of 5 and we order a whole catfish grilled to be eaten in self-made hand-rolls (authentically Vietnamese approach to delicacies). For appetizers, we had the tiny clams with banana trunks. Finally, we had the combination hotpot.

Of the three, I would say the grilled fish was the best as it tasted fresh.

Like the other reviewers before me, I would not rate it well on service.

The waiters are friendly but they are amateurs at restaurant servicing.
If you want something, don't be shy to get their attention even if it means that you have
to keep beckoning the waiter every 10 min on the average. One of the waiters is very
chatty to the point that he couldn't get my bill right 2 times and was frantic about an order to
go of 2 crabs missing ...You just have to take it in stride if you come here !

The Service was bad!!! I would not even call it service. They forgot about us and even tried to lie when we told them we were leaving. They told us that the food is coming up but later changed their story that they have forgotten about the order. We waited for half and hour with no service and they had no clue that they had lost the order. No one word of sorry or anything. The Bathroom was so bad, it seem like they only clean it once a day which is at closing time. Would not come here again.

just wanted to share my expereince to asian food lovers. To me part of the good food experience is accompanied by GOOD service. Let me just say the food was great. So far I've been in this restaurant (Bascom ave. S.J.) twice and enjoyed their food. May I suggest trying their 9 course fish. Very tastey with lots of vegetable prepared vietnamese style.

My second time to this place was last week and again the food was very good.
Unfortunately for me this could be my last itme to return to this restaurant.
Why? On these 2 occassions that I've been there, I've never encountered such poor service (lack of good mannered service). 1) They sweep the floor next to you while you are still eating your food. 2) They grab plates from your table assuming that you are done with them. 3) On this last visit we had to wait and give them a stare- the message - "we gave you payment lot more that the bill" - we want our change-. Instead we found out (while watching the cashier and server long enough) that they assumed that there was no change needed. the monies were placed on their "tip" container-which they had to pull back out and given to me after giving the wait and stare signal..NOW having mention that... this may not matter or bother some patrons.
but for me this just ruins my appetite. They could learn better manners from patrons.
Who knows I may come by again just to see if they are serious about GOOD service.

I've come to this restaurant for many years and the food keeps me coming back! The price is so reasonable. They have these deliciously cheap buffets every tuesday, wednesday, thursday for only 6.75 can you believe that? Hmmm. So good. I also enjoy their tamarin crabs, their grilled fish, and noodle dishes are the top of the line. I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic date, a good eat with co-workers, great for weddings, and birthdays.
