A lot of people criticize Catholic education, and even more believe what they hear in the press - that Catholic education leads to guilt-ridden adulthoods and a fear of critical thinking. Louisville is a great counterexample. The Sisters of St. Louis encouraged us to take reasoned and principled stands on issues, especially when we disagreed with them. They also taught us about a God who likes people to be happy and to care for each other. Members of my graduating class are quite diverse in interests, accomplishments, and political views. They also have a sense of solidarity that extends far beyond their own communities.

PROS: Creates strong, independent, thinking adults
CONS: none

I kicked and screamed, but my parents were insistent-- I was to attend the all-girls school... now, looking back at age 35, am VERY glad my parents knew what they were doing. From my class-- 1/3 went to Ivy League schools, a majority of us started college with so many advanced placement credits that we started as 1st semester sophomores....and the confidence, focused motivation, leadership and prioritization skills - have been an invaluable asset to me... Yes, boys were around on weekends from Crespi and we had all the regular social activities-- but the boys were not a distraction-- there's a difference. If I have a daughter, she will also go to an all-girl school... she'll probably kick and scream like I did-- but she'll also probably thank me too!

PROS: College Prep- Develops Women Leaders
CONS: n/a
