I'm a recovering H&R Block Tax Cut guy. Use to do my own taxes and usually got anywheres from $4K - $5K back until I met my wife who for some reason didn't believe in taking advice from a box...go figure. She's been a client of his since 1998. So, I met the guy, paid him to do my taxes (a first) and BAM...two weeks later I had more than I would have gotten back on my own

I've been a client of his for now 3 years and haven't been disappointed yet. Last year he got my wife and I over $10,000 back and advised me to make certain changes to my w-4 in order to get more back every paycheck. His advice resulted in an increase of over $200 net per pay period this year and a still sizable return of just over $7K.

Parking is kind of a hassle, but hey $2 in quarters to get $7K back, I'm not complaining.

but...it's justmyopinion

Pros: Higher Tax Return

Cons: Paying somebody to do your taxes

Was ok at one point for basic tax work.

He is awful now. He sent in several tax form with my wrong social security number which I had to correct.

He made mistake on deadlines and cost me fines and was extremely rude about it.

Last year he sent a request for donations for a cause he supports to of all his client and cc?d everybody so we all had each others email addresses.

I know a few other people I referred him to years ago have left as well with their own stores.

One person I know was about to go to him recerntly based on an old recommendation to me and was surprised I made the recommendation based on her impression of him being condencending and disrespectful in their initial call.

I've trusted Steve to handle my taxes since 1996 and have sent many a friend his way. This guy knows what he's doing, is flexible with meeting times, and charges a more-than-fair rate for all the knowledge and thought he puts into your return. Get a head start this year and have your taxes done right--don't suffer through the anonymity of H&R Block agents or the headache of figuring it out alone. And for goodness sake DON'T let your Uncle Buck who thinks he knows everything do 'em for you...we know that will only end in tears. When you need a friendly professional taxman who won't take you to the cleaners...look no further than Stephen Graves.

Pros: Historic location in the flatiron building....ever hear of the maltese falcon?

Cons: Having to pay taxes at all.
