Wonderful neighborhood health club!

by angelallang

I love this health club! It is perfect for the neighborhood as it is not too big and is not a chain. The staff is very friendly and knows you by name. The owner has really made great improvements in the last few years since she took over ownership. I especially love the women's locker rooms as they are modern and clean.

I haven't had much of a chance to work privately with the personal trainers, but I see them there all the time and they seem great, very personable and especially knowledgeable.

Pros: Friendly staff, never a wait, great locker rooms

Super Gym

by worldswimmer

Every teacher I have had here is wonderful. The retractable roof is fabulous! It is never crowded, everyone says hello. I only wish that the women had a sauna....
Locker room is kind of small but it is clean. There are always clean towels.
i just feel comfortable here. I have never had to wait for a treadmill or a piece of equipment.
It is a great deal. I hope it doesnt get over crowded!!

Cons: some classes start at 4.30.pm. if you work til 5 not so helpful. 5.30pm start is better.

Best Gym Ever (LIKE Working out at home if you had a RETRACTABLE ROOF in you weight room) HEHEHEH

by Tadahhhhh

This message has been a long time coming. Not just an amazing gym but SERIOUSLY amazing people. I have in the past not engaged in conversation at the gym because i felt like people were talking to me with ulterior motives. I have met some of the best people I know in SF. Truly GENUINE people and they actually challenge me to work out harder and not just physically as a person TOO. Trust ME that is not an easy task; and not that I can't step it up a notch JUST STUBURN. As long as I am in the Bay Area I will be with them because they, and yes I mean ESPECIALLY GRANT have always been a great friends and venue for me to get out some of this crazy energy in a constructive way. Not to mention, a place that I could call home when I really needed it. Tadahhhh some might recognize me by that saying and if you do you will understand how heartfelt the message is. The only negative and this might give my identity away WHERE IS THE GIRLS STEAM ROOM!!!!!

P.S>Thanks Joy for finally getting me to try and love YOGA......GREAT CLASS (2nd Yoga Class ever) Flow studio is amazing (BTW :I don't work for the gym)

Pros: Everything about the atmosphere promotes both a great work out and challenges you to do more

Cons: No woman's steam room (But I am working on that) If enough new member request ding ding we can make it happen

Great neighborhood gym

by tpssf

Great neighborhood gym with a friendly staff who want to get to know you. (& nice members as well!) Moderate sized facility with a variety of equipment. It never gets too crowded, & the retractable roof is a unique amenity. They've been developing a full schedule of exercise classes. I've enjoyed taking the pilates & yoga classes, & they have great instructors. The classes are a really good deal if you include them as an ad-on to your membership.

Pros: Location, staff, classes

Cons: Current remodeling is moving at a slow boil

PHHC is a great place to work out - Friendly and knowledgeable staff, all the standard equipment (with recent upgrades), not too crowded, and a pleasant atmosphere.

Great local club

by paulwermer

I wish I could find clubs this well kept, with staff as helpful, on my travels out of SF. I've been a member for about 5 years, and could not imagine moving to another club. Small & friendly, equipment well maintained -- a great neighborhood gym.

Pros: outstanding staff, well kept

Great neighborhood club!

by dobrasf

Ph2c is an excellent neighborhood club where members motivate each other and the owner and staff really do care. The trainers, equally approachable and dedicated, each have their own specialty and unique style. Ph2c is the place to go for a good workout and encouragement with a few laughs along the way. It's also good for a quieter workout without a lot of hype. Member-to-equipment ratio is quite favorable. Never over-crowded. My husband and I have been members for over three years.

Pros: Staff, Ambience, Location
