Terrific Shop
by Matthew E.
Don, presumably the owner is truly an ethical, and helpful man. He likes what he does and is extremely generous with his time and knowledge. This is a first class shop - it makes Altadena that much more special.

Great Altadena Landmark!
by Laura M.
From the red wagons in the window to the little drawers with nuts and bolts in the back, this is the place to get basic hardware supplies, the kind of unusual items you only find in Mom & Pop stores, and knowledgeable advice from owner and clerks alike.
This place opened in the mid-1920s and has been owned by the same family for three generations. This results in a real pride in helping customers find exactly what they need.
I went in with an old jar of putty once, thinking it was too old to use, and the owner told me it was fine. He could have sold me a new jar, but his ethic was to help me rather than sell me something I didn't need. I ended up buying a skillet I had been needing which I hadn't been able to find anyplace else.
You won't find fancy fixtures or tons of useless stuff the big boxes want to sell, but you will find great help, the basic supplies, nuts and bolts and nails and flanges by the piece, and yes, skillets and red wagons.

Altadena Hardware is a neat throw back in time, but with modern conveniences. It is not Home Depot, nor does it try to be. If you are working on something at home and need a few odds and ends, this is much more convenient than trekking all the way down to a larger store. The folks here are very friendly and knowledgeable and will take the time to work with you and get exactly what you need.

This quaint little hardware store has been around for years. It is located near North Lake Avenue, and Webster's Stationary store. It is a small store, but it has all the essentials. The sales people are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They have often helped my family with projects and now know us by name.
