Welcome to Maltby?s Restaurant & Tavern serving American cuisine in a casual and friendly atmosphere. We are conveniently located on the corner of Plaza North and State Street in the heart of downtown Los Altos. Whether you enjoy your meal outdoors or inside at our bar, your food is guaranteed fresh and made to order. At Maltby's we offers up great grilled & cold sandwiches, fresh creative salads, & excellent steaks & chops. The fish is always fresh, there's a special pasta dish every day, & the homemade soups are truly outstanding! Maltby's serves great, authentic American cooking, in a marvelous setting. Silicon Valley never had it this good before!

Pure British pub fun.The Food
In proper pub style, Maltby's takes its beer seriously--Double Diamond, Newcastle Brown, Fuller's London Porter, and Guinness on tap, among others--but the food is more straight-ahead American. The kitchen does its best work on the simple things: hot pastrami sandwiches, 12-ounce rib-eye steaks, half-pound burgers with Gorgonzola cheese, house-made spumoni ice cream. Unwisely, the restaurant also offers a range of "fancier" foods that are clearly a reach for the kitchen staff (teriyaki salmon salad, paella).
The Scene
If you stay simple and order another creamy pint, Maltby's achieves a level of comfortable good cheer that the Hard Rock can only dream about.

Maltby's is a go-to favorite for a business lunch or evening meal with the family. The menu appeals to one and all as it offers a nice spectrum of light meals along with more substantial entrees. In spite of a less than ideal location for visibility, they have had staying power in Los Altos which says a lot in and of itself. Service is always friendly and repeat customers enjoy recognition by Maltby's long standing wait staff. Enjoy your meal!

Good family oriented pub style restaurant. Sunday night prime rib special is our family favorite. Great kids menu. Good/Great , but not exceptional, service.

Three words ... [fish] [n] [chips]. Probably don't want to eat these babies too often, but man, when you've gotta have some, this is the place! Friendly staff, and bottomless sodas!

Generally a good family atmosphere - nicely located in the village but not on main street - food is nice and predictable - service varies from average to good depending on days

Maltby's with a pub feel is located downtown Los Altos with ample and convenient parking and is generally not too busy in the evenings. It has the traditional pub grub including very good fish and chips, bangers, liver, hamburgers, etc. They also have add much more to the menu including Fillet Mignon, Paella, Chicken Provencial, etc. Superb desserts and great beer selection (especially Belgian beers). All around a great experience.
PROS: Great food, good value, convenient
CONS: Infrequently inconsistent quality especially wth fish and chips
