The Alhambra library is one of the best public libraries around the San Gabriel valley area. They have a wide selection of materials for whatever your literary needs are. Most public libraries are really old and outdated, but the Alhambra library gets in the latest books and updated materials. Usually, the new releases are limited to 1 week, and you may have to pay $1 to rent some of the newer, popular books. If a book or item you want isn't there, you can reserve it for 50 cents and the library staff will contact you when it's available.

This Alhambra library has a great selection of periodicals and children's books. It's not an extensive or very large library but suffices for elementary research and is a good place for studying as well. They have a lot of periodicals just for browsing through and reading as well. The thing I liked least about the library was that it was closed entirely on Sundays, making it hard for procrastinating kids to get their work done at the last minute. Besides that, parking is free but not unlimited-- there is not an overabundance of spaces.

Excellent city library with great childrens department. Always new book selections being added, thanks to tremendous community donors & support. Childrens Summer Reading Program complete with prizes & drawings and Wednesday shows. Toddler storytime available during rest of the year. Used bookstore on-site with its proceeds directly supporting library programs.
