Pep Boys Mess you up

Never take your vehicle to Pep Boys, they will mess you up. I took my friend's car & my truck to service there, they drain my friend's vehicle completely & say it needs new battery. Their service people almost mess up my exhaust system by placing the lift on it to lift my truck, I am relief that I caught it, whew! They now has customer service dept to call you back & ask if you would come back for service in the future or not. Well, you know the answer to that.

Pep Boys is HORRIBLE!

I had a very slow leak in my Driver's side rear tire for a week or so. So, I took my car to our local Pep boys on 2/21 to have them check it out. When we arrived first thing in the morning, they were already SWAMPED. We waited for 3 hours and they never got to our car. They told us to come back later and see if things died down. We came went back later and waited another 2 hours. Now they tell us to make an appointment for the following day. They also told us to fill our our paperwork now and that would save time the following morning. So, we did as they asked and came back the next morning for our 9am appointment. They made us wait in line til 9:30 (no preference for people with appointments). When we checked in they said we were late and now there would be people in front of us?!!? They also could not find our paperwork we filled out the prior day. So, we started all over. 2 hours later they still had not even looked at the car. After 3 hours they told us they could not get the nail out of the tire. We were super frustrated with the delay and said just give us the car and we'll take it else where. Then all of a sudden they got the nail and said it was all fixed. They charged us $27.00 after all that! By that night my tire was completely flat. I took my car to America's Tire Company and the told us that Pep boys damaged my tire with the plug and now I would need a new tire. So, something that initially would have been free anywhere else, turned into a $560 cost & 2 new tires later.
Pep boys wasted out weekend and money, our first and last time we'll ever use them!

tire problem

Pep boys found a nail in front tire. They said they fixed it. Upon driving home (90 miles) I noticed the left front tire was at 12 pounds. another tire at 26, another tire at 32, and the other at 30. Normal is 26 pounds.

Today my left front tire is low, upon checking there is a nail in it. I am assuming Pep Boys never did any service to my tires. They also wanted $20 just to check alignment.

Don't go there!!

brakes

My experience at Pep Boys was wonderful. I called this morning and asked about brakes pads they said come on down we will fix you up!
This is a holiday weekend and they got me in and out of there very quickly. They explained future work that my car needed but there was no pressure to do it on this particular visit.
I recently had my oil changed at the dealer and they made everything sound so urgent.
I highly recommened Pep Boys in Sunnyvale.

alternator service

asked for alternate check, which I knew was bad because it was overcharging my car.and I told them just change alternator since i am pretty good at diagnosing the small problem. I had alternator checked at kragen and they told me that you need new alternator . I was told that price for alternator with installation will be around 150. Well, when i return, they showed whopping $315 invoice claiming that i needed voltage regulator as well as alternator and oil service also. Never go this shop. It stinks.!!! You are better of going to regular gas station shop.atleast they will call if additional service is needed.

Bad Service

Recently did 90K service at this pep boys. They said, the standard 90K service for my car is around $250. After the inspection , they called me and said, I have to change Brake drum and Brake pads, and it will cost $415 and they did not tell me the details. After the service I looked in the bill and I saw two entry for tire rotation. Though the cost for parts brake is only $150, they charged labour charge of $275, it is very costly. so I felt very bad about the service of pep boys.

There were mail in rebate for the brake and even after 3 months we did not receive the rebate.

Better Customor Service Elsewhere

In a 45-minute trip to this auto parts / tire installation store, not a single employee asked if I needed help.

There are probably more service-oriented businesses to be found elsewhere

Please avoid

I used to take my car to this place because it was nearby. However the service sucks. They messed my car up real bad one time and I had to take it to the dealer to get it fixed. The guys in the counter act like they are doing us a favor. Please avoid.

poor customer service

I phoned the sunnyvale store, requesting a time I should arrive for a short wait for tire installation, and they said they were not busy. After I selected tires for my automobile, the price he quoted was much higher than expected, and when I asked him to expain all the charges on the printout sheet, he had added additional items I did not request, such as front end alignment, and premium tire warrenty. I felt like he was more interested in his commission than in customer service. I requested he remove those charges, and then I waited from 3:15pm until 7pm for the tire installation. Not timely as promised on the phone, and the longest tire installation I have ever experienced, considering they were not busy at the time. I personally felt the added wait was because I questioned his added charges and he lost commission. I could not recommended this store to any of my patients, and have posted negative web responses as well. I was extremely disappointed in customer service
