5 Stars: The best store for children's books! (by Diana P.)

As child advocate, it's important to know the best stores to refer families to. Hicklebee's gives the best selection and customer service!!! The store is filled with nooks and crannies for children to sit and curl up with a book. It's a wonderful environment that fosters literacy in so many ways.

4 Stars: Great place for kids to meet their favorite author (by amy n.)

We met Eric Carle here last summer. It is a relatively small space and they herded us through, so I didn't get a good look at everything, but it appears they have a good selection. What I did get a feel for is that the employees know their stuff. The one thing that did disappoint is that they didn't anticipate the demand for the books by the author. I think he was mainly there to promote his new book and that sold out quickly, but they were still allowing us to buy a different Eric Carle book to be signed. It's not like Eric Carle's a new author and his books aren't classics - they ended up having him sign book plates to be put on books you could order, definitely not the same for a small child who wanted to leave with a book. Luckily, they also allowed you to have him sign 1 book from home if you brought it as long as you bought one of his books from them and we have a signed copy of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" that we had picked up at our local library for a dime!
