The Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio.. I stumbled upon Waynes class about 6 months ago. I was looking to resume my acting training. The classes I had taken before were A. Way Overpriced! An actors gotta be able to support themself! B. Huge class size, only got to perform twice a month at MOST! C. Very scattered in their technique, focusing so much on breaking down a script and making judgments on what you think you should do rather than being open and allowing yourself to react organically. So I had been auditing several studios in the LA area. I was eager to get back into training but none of the studios I visited seemed to "feel" like a fit. Follow your instincts, right?! Auditing and watching the students perform, it felt more like they were being taught how to read the lines rather than actually respond to the situation. Over thinking in a way, which definitely shows up on those cameras!

When I went to audit Wayne's class he had me arrive about a half hour before class and took the time to tell me about how he came into the Meisner technique. I had done a few Meisner repetition exercises before, but the way Wayne spoke about it really opened my eyes. It's really a very simplistic approach. The beginning few months are strictly repetitions. This is where a huge part of the discipline comes in. Unless you are dedicated to doing the exercises in class and the 2 rehearsals a week, it gets a little repetitive. It is when you are truly dedicated to the program that you begin to feel more aware of how you are actually feeling, even if the words aren't changing, their energy is. You begin to get out of your head and allow yourself to respond organically to your surroundings.

Wayne is always very perceptive in his critiques and helps guide you by noticing the changes from week to week. You can really tell that he puts his heart into every class. I even joined the class a bit late and Wayne made time before his class to help my partner and I catch up! Oh and he also does great vocal warmups, throws in some Shakespeare for annunciation and does some exercises to really loosen you up and put that guard down!

Not only within my acting, but within my life and really at the heart of it, within myself I can feel my awareness of my own being growing yet shedding more and more of the baggage, the judgements.. things that really keep you inside your own head. The funny thing is that the same things that keep you stagnant in your own life i.e. fear, over thinking what has or what will happen rather than what IS happening are the same things that shut off your creative intuition as an actor.

Sooo..

Great perceptive teacher with lots of experience in the biz, affordable classes with a really comfortable atmosphere, I highly recommend this class for actors who really wish to become free within themselves and their acting. The things that make a character interesting are their own unique reactions, something which only comes from truth within the moment.

Be well!

I have been studying with Wayne Dvorak for 6 months and the results are amazing! I am absolutely blown away with how connected as an actor I became and really in touch with my emotions! Wayne is a very knowledgeable teacher with around 30 years experience in the industry and I learn a lot every class. Meisner technique is awesome. it's hard, but it really works. before I had no idea what it's all about, so I was quite shocked with how much it changed me. I am a more honest actor already, and on my way to becoming a real professional! I love Wayne's class, we are like a family.

This is a class for serious people only. Dvorak will get you to look at yourself and find out what makes you tick. Eventually you'll become more comfortable in your own skin, which will enable you to be free in the choices you make. It's a process that takes commitment and trust. Dvorak will put you through this process using the Meisner Technique, and he'll guide you through it in a way that's specific to your personal needs. This class is all substance and no flash so be prepared. I've been at this studio almost a year now and this is pretty much where I'm at right now. Never have I ever been more aware of myself, and it's just gonna keep getting clearer.

I've been studying meisner with Wayne for about a year and a half. In that time I feel like I've progressed a ton. If you're an actor you're probably going to study meisner at some point and I would definitely recommend auditing this class. This is a class where everyone gets up several times a class and works. Class isn't done until everyone has worked. I think that's something I've learned to appreciate in the past year and some change because how many teachers have kept your class a little late so everyone could finish? Most of the time the teachers are just as eager to get out of the class as the students who've already gotten up and worked.

As far as the class goes, classes are small and you'll definitely bond with the other actors throughout the 2 year program if you choose to stay for the entire time. The monthly cost is by far the lowest I've payed for a class since I've been in LA. Also, Wayne really cares about his students. He's never negative towards them. I've personally met several teachers that just belittled actors in classes to "make them better". That's not Wayne. Not even close.

In the past year and a half I've learned to really listen and respond naturally. For the class you have to meet twice a week outside of class and I'm telling you that is crucial. The more you act the more natural and easy it becomes. The classes will work much much faster for you. Also, its in a really nice area of Los Feliz. There are lots of shops restaurants nearby so it gives you a reason to check out a really nice and chill area of LA.

I have had the privilege to work with Wayne Dvorak and all I have to say is he improved my acting as well as my respect for the craft. I came in to Wayne's class 2 yrs ago thinking I knew everything there is to know about acting. Little did I know, there was a lot more to acting then reading a script and reciting lines. You have to know the character that you are portraying inside and out. Wayne also brings out emotions inside of you that you never thought you could display. I am finishing up my 2nd year in his class and I have learned so much from Wayne that I plan on doing the professional level because it would benefit me a lot. Wayne is a serious acting teacher and if you don't come with your A game he will get on your case and let you know. He stays on top of you when you are slacking and that is one thing that a lot of acting coaches don't do, but Wayne really cares..Oh, and did I mention the fact that his class is probably the most affordable meisner class in town. If you truly focus on the exercise work that Wayne gives you and take time on your off days to practice, you will be a LEAD actor in this town. Being a professional actor in LA isn't easy but if you follow Wayne Dvorak's teaching you could become just that.....A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR!

I have learned so much from Wayne's class; coming from production work, my first hurdle in Wayne's class was to overcome my nerves of being on stage! Wayne teaches you techniques to overcome self-consciousness...I'm now auditioning and booking small jobs (one step at a time...), and I credit that to the work I've done in Wayne's class.

The other tool I've gained, is the ability to connect, and stay connected to my scene or exercise partner. This skill is something I've started using in my daily life, in auditions (with casting directors, etc) and has definitely helped me get into many people's good graces...Once you are aware, and begin practicing connecting with others, you are truly able to live moment-to-moment as an actor (at least....you get a LOT better at it...)

Wayne stresses being natural, and as a result it's taken away a lot of the fear of acting...if you just have to be yourself (at least in the first year of training...he focuses on character the second year), you always have the power to know if you are doing a good job....

Wayne reads people's emotions and pretenses very well, and he tells you exactly what critique/feedback you need to hear to take yourself to the next level...sometimes the class can be emotionally draining....but on those days you know you've done good work. It's almost like taking a medicine...sometimes it doesn't taste good, but once you start seeing the results you are immeasurable grateful...with Wayne...you see results...not just yours, but everybody's.

As for the business side...Wayne will give you advice on your head shots, give you tips on how to take them, don insights into your casting, and shed bites of wisdom, stories and anecdotes to help you learn and make you laugh. I look forward to these each class...

Lastly, Wayne starts each class with vocal exercises and diction...use these tools before any audition and it will help you go in there speaking strongly. He also knows how to use Meisner in comedy...and coming into the class with a love of humor...his ability to take a serious technique and apply it to something less dramatic (but still as truthful) is something I respect and value immensely. Great price, great class...you'll learn a lot.

Wayne Dvorak is the first teacher I have studied with in Los Angeles who has helped me gain perspective on the industry as well as given me the tools to become a successful actress. Wayne does this by simply tuning, sculpting your voice, movement and tone while teaching you to become aware of your most inner emotions. He is the first teacher (and I can say that with confidence) I have studied with whom helps water your seed and watch you grow richer and deeper into your performance. He is not afraid to give structured criticism in fact its something you look forward to. He gives his opinion with out disowning your own emotions and thoughts on the scene. With the Meisner training and his classic ways of teaching; the daring combo has proven to work for me. I have gained more confidence in auditions and booked jobs based upon "the connection." His passion for the actor goes way beyond the class you just have to be willing to put in the work! Wayne Dvorak is one of the best teachers Los Angeles has to offer and is worth every cent!

When looking for a Meisner teacher i audited a number of schools within the Los Angeles Area, after much deliberation i decided to join Wayne Dvorak. I have been blown away by his class. I have been going for roughly 6 months but the improvements i have felt in my acting is huge! Wayne has an amazing gift of being able to really read people and let them know things that they are doing that they dont realize they are even doing in their acting. I have already had many layers of my protective covers stripped away in class making me a much more real actor. I would recommend him to anyone! He is the best Meisner teacher in Los Angeles with out a doubt.

Learning the Meisner Technique under Wayne Dvorak has been truly motivating. Since arriving at Wayne??s studio I have learned to cut out my showmanship and truly listen to my partner. It has also allowed me to discover things about myself I never knew; things that make me unique and things that hinder my growth as an actor. Through Wayne??s feedback and guidance I am able to recognize my problems and attack them head-on. I am very thankful to come across this class!

This is my first meisner technique training in Los Angeles. I am taking Wayne Dvorak's class and it is absolutely awesome! Wayne Dvorak is definitely a professional, and knows the ins & outs of the film business in Hollywood. Wayne is very knowledgeable and passionate about the meisner technique. I have just started out acting, and I have already learned more than I ever have in any other acting class that I have taken. This class is a MUST take if you are looking for training in Los Angeles.

Although I am only a first year student at the Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio, I am thrilled that my acting skills have greatly improved. I feel more natural and "real" in front of an audience- I am learning to respond to every moment and connection in a scene. Currently, we are developing our emotional range and ability to create an emotionally connected fantasy. Wayne's program covers all the levels of the Meisner technique, and he moves at a suitable pace for each individual. Wayne is an incredibly established and well respected teacher! This class is amazing!

Wayne Dvorark Meisner Technique class is amazing! Wayne is such an excellent, well experienced/respected member in the acting community. His class is well structured and you learn the meisner technique in levels over appropriate periods of time. It allows you to bring your own personality into a character, helping you relate to potential roles you may go for. This class has honestly made me feel more confident and prepared to take on the challenges of pursuing my career of acting, and I'm only in the 2nd year, I can only imagine how much more is in store for me.- If you are serious about making it in this business you need the proper training; and this is the place to be.

What can I say, about Wayne Dvorak, but wow, these past 2 years have been incredible. If you are looking for a quick class, or a fix-it-now type of class, don??t take this class.
This is all about Wax-on, Wax-off (sorry for the karate kid quote). You won??t even do a scene till like the third or fourth month. Because its all about learning who you are, learning to listen, to look and work off another actor. Not whether or not you can memorize a scene. This is all about settling yourself down as a human being first, then working on being ??real? or really just being yourself, and then building on becoming an actor with tools you will use for the rest of your life. I learned more about myself in the first year then I did about ??acting?
If you want to grow as an actor slowly, BUT surely. If have a long-term crockpot mentality. If you want to be a well trained actor and not some day-player or extra for the rest of your career, then take this class.
He wont even let you start taking a class until you audit, because he wants to make sure you understand what you are getting into and to see if you will like it.
You also will learn:
Voice
How to build a character
How to breakdown and analyze a script
Many, many other things

I have been taking Wayne Dvorak's Mesiner class for about 3 months now and I am already starting to see changes in myself and in my acting. Wayne creates a very comfortable and professional atmosphere in the classroom. He encourages everybody to be honest, to try new things, and most importantly, to do the training for YOURSELF, not to impress him or anybody else! The class is teaching me how to be in the moment, which is crucial for acting. It is also teaching me how to be comfortable in front of people as myself, not only as an actress playing a character. This class is great for exploring your emotional range and for learning how to access emotions quickly. I would recommend anybody who is serious about the craft of acting to do the Meisner Technique, especially with a great teacher like Wayne who has decades of experience as an actor and as a teacher!

Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio is a hidden secret in Los Angeles. Wayne class sizes, limited to 12 persons, ensures that each person gets the individualized attention you need. He provides valuable feedback, that can enrich and does enrich your performance. Wayne simplifies acting - and there is no acting in the class - we are actively reacting off another person's behavior and words. I definitely recommend his class to any level - from beginner to professional level actor.

Wayne simplifies acting - and there is no acting in the class - we are actively reacting off another person's behavior and words. I definitely recommend his class to any level - from beginner to professional level actor.

A solid technique program is essential for any serious actor in LA, and Wayne Dvorak??s is one of the best in town. He divides the Meisner technique into seven parts spanning two years and builds you up step by step. The exercises and repetitions really cause you to open up and learn more about yourself and your natural behavior, which is vital to good work.

I??m just wrapping up my first year and I feel my acting has grown because I??m listening so much more. Meisner is great for developing two of the key elements of acting ?? listening and being natural. Wayne has helped me strip away all the covers I was putting on before (which I didn??t even realize) and as a result I??m behaving more ??real? in my work.

Everybody will see improvement in Wayne??s class; I highly recommend if for both experienced actors and beginners alike. Best of all, he??s affordable and will let you audit a class to see his students in action.

I love his class, it was a great find. Although it is a drive for me its worth it. The first thing I asked him was I don't want to be made to feel stupid because I know NOTHING about acting. After 2 months of classes he has lived up to his word. It's a very open and comfortable learning environment. If anything I have learned more about myself and opening up, instead of looking down and judging myself. I would recommend his beginner class to anyone who is looking for a judgment free, comfortable class! The Meisner technique has helped me to build a foundation in my acting and is actually a beneficial approach for me. He provides you with the tools to learn this technique and makes you feel confident in yourself which will ultimately reflect in your acting! Great find!

There are a lot of good reviews on here about Wayne's program. That's because he is a good teacher, but he also gives students a little incentive now and then to write up reviews online -- like one free private hour of instruction if you write a review on 4 sites like Yelp, Citysearch, etc. So that's why there are so many reviews about Wayne on so many sites. Maybe he shouldn't do that so much, but it has been helpful for him to get his studio's name out there so people come in to audit and check out the program for themselves. All he wants to get people to come visit him and decide on their own from there -- he really is genuinely honest.

That said, you do get a solid acting program with Wayne. He is HIGHLY technical, which is my only complaint -- if you can call it a complaint. For new actors, you really do need to be technical and get that out of the way. That's what all the British actors do, and to have that foundation is what makes great actors.

But I have seen that you also need improv and freedom to create and experience in your acting, and that is when you leave Wayne's program to add more to what you have learned at his studio.

So many -- the vast majority -- acting classes in Los Angeles are not disciplined and do not fully teach you the basics and allow you to step-by-step develop your craft. Wayne's is the exception, but it is only for the most disciplined actor. I saw all the undisciplined actors disappear, little by little, from his studio. He demands a lot from you. A LOT. And most 20 and 30-somethings aren't prepared to be so disciplined -- but that is how you become a professional in this business and stand out.

Good luck!

Pros: Gives you necessary acting foundation, solid program, honest

Cons: Sometimes can be too technical

The Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio in Los Angeles, CA is a 2 year Meisner Technique training program. Aside from being one of the most affordable training programs in the city, it is also incredible training taught by an instructor with a lifetime of acting and teaching experience. Having taken years of acting classes in various methods the Meisner Technique is one that has only enriched my acting both emotionally and technically. Meisner has a very simple approach to a very complicated art and it is based on Meisner??s exercise work as well as scene study. Wayne Dvorak is a no frills, no B.S. type of teacher who is only there to help his students craft and guide them through the ??business? that is Hollywood. Wayne only allows 12 students max. in his program and you are GUARANTEED to work at least once in every class. I know many actors in LA that pay 3 times the amount I do and they get up to work in class every other week!! This training is not for the faint of heart since it is an intense program for 2 years and requires outside rehearsals which are key to success in this discipline. If you are serious about your training and are dedicated enough to put in the 2 years to complete the training, I cannot recommend a better place to study than at Wayne??s studio.

This class has truly given me a platform to explore, and to reflect, on exactly who I am. Coming closer in tune with my inner self, and honestly assessing my behavior and character, has given me a solid understanding of how to openly and efficiently channel my acting. This class will definitely help you to develop and expand your acting range, making your emotional palette more colorful.

Wayne Dvorak??s usage of the Meisner technique, aids us into finding clarity, depth, and truth into our emotional point of view. Thru repetitions, listening and responding, and bouncing off impulses, moment-to-moment, we are able to quickly access and honor our emotions while displaying an improvisational style of acting. While disciplining our acting thru rehearsals, layer-by-layer, we are stripped of our social manipulations, and find vulnerable areas of our emotional selves that may have been suppressed or hidden. This process increases the quality of our acting and chisels away at our inhibitions and insecurities.

Wayne is a great instructor, who offers both challenge and affirmation. He provides a warm and comfortable environment for us to feel empowered and to gain the necessary confidence to become successful actors, and in our lives. The classes are small and intimate which allows each of us time to receive valuable instruction. Wayne is very attentive, thorough and detailed in his criticisms and suggestions. I appreciate him as my instructor and mentor because I can genuinely feel, that he is invested and dedicated, in ensuring that each of us will become successful in our craft.

Wayne has given me necessary tools to put into my artistic toolbox, to begin building my career as an actor. I am extremely grateful for these experiences and certainly recommend this class to all those who are serious and passionate about pursuing the discipline of acting. You will be enriched.

A couple years ago I moved out to LA, and enrolled in acting class after acting class. I was bombarded with classes that promised the quick success and fast approach to the movie machine. I quickly learned that these were all shams, mostly traveling medicine men with the potion that didn't work or gurus who claimed the answer but fell short of truth. I felt lost for awhile and decided I would do it by myself, I didn't need the class, but soon looked around at all my friends who claimed the same thing and said they were "actors" but all we ever did was sit around coffee houses talking about how much better we were then the people on the billboard above our table.

I started to do a lot of reading about different methods, I dabbled in new age acting, took a sip of performance art, and dove head first into Stanislavski. I dug on what Stanislavski was saying and followed his progression of thought through the teachers of the past into Strasberg, Adler and Meisner. I felt much had been lost through the years in Strasberg and Adler. I read "Standford Meisner on Acting," and decided this was the type of class I wanted and needed. The tools and techniques that Meisner talked about I believed would make me a good a actor, and competitive in the world of Hollywood.

I enrolled in Wayne's class about a year ago, and I have found it to be not only rewarding but also challenging. I have gone places that I didn't even know were possible. Through the work I have grown not only in my ability to act, but also personally. It has opened my eyes to all the little intricacies that are over looked by "civilians," and made me aware of my own action's effects on people. I recommend Wayne to all my friends who are still sitting under the billboards talking about why they are better, because he will give you the tools but the rest is up to what you do with them.

I moved out to LA a couple years ago, and found myself lost in a sea of school and techniques, I quickly found myself with all my other "actor" friends sitting in a coffee shop talking about how much better we were than the people on the billboard above us. ?As a sales rep for a Hollywood based magazine I looked for all kinds of alternatives to our typical advertisers. I thought acting studios and coaches would be a great fit. I only wanted to promote the best so I did my research and found Wayne Dvorak. A year later I am not with the magazine, yet I am still happily attending classes with Wayne and all of my awesome classmates.

I refer Wayne to just about everyone I meet (Actor or not). His Meisner Technique classes really force you to assess yourself and see that you can achieve anything that you set out to do IF you are committed to it and do the work. You realize, in his class, that there really is great reward in taking risks. I couldn't be happier with the decision I made to take Wayne's Class and to take those risks!?

I've taken many acting classes in the past but did not feel that I truly had a good foundation under me until I came to the studio. The Meisner technique has helped me become more open and aware which has led me to become a better actor, and in general, a better person. Wayne's style of teaching is also great. He is serious and expects the same in return and offers feedback in a way that is very conducive to learning. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to take their career to the next level.

I've been studying Meisner technique with Wayne Dvorak for the past year, and have to say, it's been an amazing experience.

First off, regarding the technique-- it has a way of opening you up emotionally. It allows you to gradually push the barriers of your comfort zone WAY out, so that you are able to access extremes (and subtleties) of your emotional spectrum in a grounded and sincere way. I've gained confidence and familiarity going places that would have scared the crap out of me before I started the training.

The training also strips away all the layers "acting"-- the affectations, self-consciousness, pushing, broadcasting, indicating, mimicking, etc-- so that you're finally left with something simple and pure: a human being having a sincere experience. Getting to that place is truly liberating for an actor, and probably the most captivating for any audience to see.

Now regarding Wayne, he is an incredible teacher. He doesn't operate from this place of trying to show off, or impress, or intimidate, or play favorites, or listen to himself talk all night. He's a true teacher, here's there to teach and nothing else. He has an incredible knowledge of this craft, and he has a way of reading right into you. He can see exactly what's going on in there, and he WILL, in the most subtle way, bring out your full potential. He's no-nonsense, but he's all heart.

This all makes for an atmosphere that is wonderful for growth as an actor and artist. However, be forewarned, the training takes dedication. Be ready to work!

Wayne is Top Notch and that's real talk!

When I started my search for an acting teacher I wanted to make sure I would be enthusiastic about coming to class. Really who wants to sit anywhere for 3 hours w/o a break studying anything? I did audit a few classes in the LA/Hollywood area but I knew right away this was the class for me.

When you audit, he sits down with you 30 min. before class and explains to you what he does, the technique he teaches, and what we will prob. see in the class. I went to other classes and I didn't know what the heck they were doing. He involves you in the breathing exercises (which you may feel very foolish doing at first) and then you stay quiet as the class goes on. You can ask questions during certain times though and after the class is over, Wayne will call you the next day to go over some things. That's the audit process.

The Class: Meisner Technique

First off, Wayne is a hard teacher, which mean he will push you to your best potential. If you are shy get over it and if you think you are a hot shot, get over that as well. Wayne pulls truth and realness out of you. When I first started I was somewhat apprehensive about showing how I really felt about things and as I was told I was "theatrically" showing emotions and to just be myself.

Second, the class is small. i don't think he has more than 12 ppl in a class and everyone goes up twice EACH CLASS! Even if you don't want to, lol. This means you are always working on the craft.

Third, we do exercises and scenes. One thing I like about this is he will let you complete what you are suppose to do then talk about it after. No interruptions while you are doing something. Unless he really doesn't get it but that will come later.

The bottom line is if you are serious about acting, this class is for you. If you work hard you will definitely see the growth within a few months. I have grown in my confidence about my work and ability to reach the emotion at hand truthfully and moment by moment. The program is a two year program, class is 1 nite a wk for 3 hours, you need 2 rehearsals outside of class and this is the min.but it's worth it. I am about to start the second year and I have no regrets.

I've been in Wayne's class for about a year now. It is an incredibly solid acting training, and I have yet to see anything as good. I work as a camera op, and cinematographer, so I see a lot of acting both good and bad. Wayne is able to take people and turn them into genuinely good actors.

Wayne's class is exceptionally solid. I am in his class, but also work as a cinematographer. I meet a lot of so called trained actors, and most of them can't even hold a candle to what he cranks out in his first year.

If you're interested in taking a serious class, check Wayne's out for sure.

I think 5 stars are not fair for this, It deserves 10 star rating:). As my title says, Wayne Dvorak, Meisner Technique acting classes brings acting Naturally in you, there is nothing artificial about them;). The Meisner Technique is just amazing because this Technique is all about making yourself believing in the character and situation to a point where you actually become that character and than you don't have to fake it, play it or act it. This technique can make you go so detailed in all areas of different emotions, that before i thought that only way it can be reached is by faking it and i must say that his fees is very fairly priced too!

I Highly recommend Mr Wayne, Meisner Technique classes to any actor regardless if they are new to acting or have taken acting classes before, in my case i was completely new when i started this training and these were my first acting classes ever and i feel so Lucky that my first search in finding acting class became my best search, and now with one year of training under my belt, Iam Confident and it has given me all the essential tools needed to be a Successful Actor. Iam so impressed with Mr Wayne Acting Classes that iam also taking the full 2nd year of this training.

Meisner Technique is Good but what makes it GREAT is Mr Wayne
way of teaching and his skills with this Technique, which simply ROCKS!!!!!

Taking the Meisner Technique with Wayne Dvorak was the best decision I could have made for my craft. I have reached levels in acting I never thought I could. I feel much more free in my acting and my emotional range is stronger and more consistent. I finally feel like I have a technique under my belt that is reliable and actually works.

Wayne is great about personalizing his approach with each person. He understands what each person needs to grow and how to make the Meisner tools work for that individual. He is honest in his critiques but never cruel and you always feel that his comments come from his desire to help you grow and become a better actor. I am definitely a sensitive soul so this approach has been very helpful to me. I guess what I am trying to say is, he is a great teacher!

I first heard of Wayne's class during a career consultation. The Casting Director I met with was gushing about the Mesiner Technique with Mr. Dvorak. Me being stubborn at the time decided I would forge my own path at one of those "Learn Mesiner in a month" programs. $1000 later I limped into Wayne's office for an audit. He has to be one of the most sincere people in Los Angeles. He truly cares about you as an actor but more importantly as a person. A few highlights about what I LOVE about class:

- 12 students MAX
- Motivated classmates
- Safe environment to take risks in your craft
- Price
- You will work at LEAST twice every class

If your are auditing Meisner programs in Los Angeles do yourself a favor and set up an appointment with Wayne.

I've been in class with Wayne for some time now and have found his class exceptionally professional and, moreover, generous and nurturing. Wayne has this uncanny ability to see through people - he's the kind of mentor that is honest with you but always relays his comments to you in the most friendly and constructive manner, making class a real safe-haven where it is painless for an actor to open up. At the studio you have no reason to hide behind any pretenses (and Wayne sees right through them, anyway).

The Meisner technique is exceptionally effective; it helps you become an active observer, always in the moment, grounding yourself, letting go of 'acting' and letting your emotions come up naturally - creating true emotional depth. I strongly recommend taking this class - but only if you are serious! You have to really want to become a professional actor and dedicate yourself - Wayne won't just let you off the hook.

Wayne's value as a teacher is immeasurable; he is genuine in his teaching and undoubtedly dedicates a vast amount of time and effort toward his students. He's not the type to ever rush people out the door ?? he puts all his energy into guiding and molding actors who are as well-trained as thoroughbreds. If you are looking to be a working actor in Los Angeles, or are a working actor and want to advance your career - take the Meisner technique class with Wayne!

I really feel like Wayne's studio is like a second home to me where I constantly learn and grow. As an actor who has also lived in New York and London and been to a myriad acting classes, I really am grateful to have found Wayne's class in Los Angeles.

When first moving to Los Angeles I was wary of what type of class I wanted to take and with which instructor I would put my money and my trust into. There were just so many to choose from! I wanted to be careful because I had heard awful stories about classes not giving you your moneys worth, along with them being way too overpriced. I found out about Wayne??s Meisner technique through a co-worker who simply raved about the class and all the benefits he had received since he had started. The next day I called Wayne, who was extremely welcoming and interested in my story, and booked an audit.

After taking Wayne??s class for over a year now, I can honestly say I??ve grown, not only as an actor, but personally as well. His technique teaches you to do some serious soul searching that enables you to truly know yourself inside and out. That in itself is one of the preliminary acting tools that is needed to make an actor great. He keeps his classes relatively small (10-12) in order to give his students the time and attention they deserve. Everyone gets up every week, more than once ( which is rare in many of the studios in L.A.) and everyone is able to discuss their opinions an ideas (professionally of course) about the subject at hand.

Not only is Wayne wonderful in instructing you how to deepen your emotion and heighten your skill level, he also is extremely informative when it comes to the business side of the Art. His experience and knowledge of this town is extensive and SO helpful! Each class I soak up all I can about the business edge you must have to survive in this city.

I recommend Wayne??s class to anyone who??s serious and is looking for a Meisner technique that can give them the right tools to flourish with their Art.

Pros: Awesome acting class

Cons: None

Wayne?s class is for actors who take the craft and themselves seriously. The first year of the Meisner technique, as taught by Wayne, is an exiting revelation that equips the student with an awareness of their own emotional repertoire, and then teaches them how to immediately access it deeply and honestly. In the second year, the focus turns to the nitty gritty of acting work; scene study, script analysis, ?character? work, and finding choices for the character so that you, the actor, can bring to bear those emotional realities you honed in the first year. The first two years of Wayne?s training are a serious, vastly rewarding challenge both personally and professionally. After those two years an actor can expect to be and feel like a bone fide craftsman in the art. Which comes in handy in the Professional level class, where you have repeated face to face ?show off? time in front of Casting Directors and Agents in the interests of advancing yourself into the world of paid gigs. It is no understatement to say that Wayne?s instruction and mentorship made me into the real deal. I am proud to have made it through and confident with any script in my hands.

After those two years an actor can expect to be and feel like a bone fide craftsman in the art. Which comes in handy in the Professional level class, where you have repeated face to face ??show off? time in front of Casting Directors and Agents in the interests of advancing yourself into the world of paid gigs. It is no understatement to say that Wayne??s instruction and mentorship made me into the real deal. I am proud to have made it through and confident with any script in my hands.

Wayne??s class is for actors who take the craft and themselves seriously. The first year of the Meisner technique, as taught by Wayne, is an exiting revelation that equips the student with an awareness of their own emotional repertoire, and then teaches them how to immediately access it deeply and honestly. When I decided that I wanted to seriously pursue a career in acting I had the same dilemma that many actors face; what kind of training do I need, and who do I entrust with the job of training me? I had taken classes in High School, and in College, and knew that I simply was not at a level where I could compete with actors in Hollywood who were actually booking these acting jobs. Then I remembered the best piece of advice that any college professor had ever given me. He had said that if a person REALLY wanted to learn how to act that they needed to go to Hollywood or New York and study Meisner with a coach that they really trusted.

The thing that makes Meisner such a good technique is that it is so limitless, yet still safe. What I mean by this is that other acting styles that rely on actors real personal past experiences in order to get into a REAL emotional state are limited in that an actor then only has the ability to draw upon that which they have actually experienced. With the Meisner technique you learn how to get into a REAL emotional state using a "seed" of reality and fictional circumstances applied to that "seed" of truth. Not only does this make the Meisner technique as limitless as your imagination, it also makes it safe in that you can easily "turn it off" when they call cut, because whatever you were crying about or in a rage about is not based on something that was a traumatic truth in your life.

So then began my search for a Meisner class. I visited several studios, and then audited Waynes class, and the choice was clear. Wayne is great because he teaches every class himself. There are no associates, or underlings teaching you, with an occasional appearance from the coach with the "name". This allows him to be able to keep track of every student??s personal growth, giving you projects that will stretch an actor where he/she needs it most. He also keeps the classes small (no more than about 12 people) so that every actor can be afforded the opportunity to get up and work every week, which is crucial to steady improvement.

He teaches a two year program. The first year is always from your own point of view. It focuses on learning to be "real" and to be truly "in the moment" , by learning to access real emotional states out of fictitious circumstances through a series of exercises, combined with scene work.

The second year focuses on taking the knowledge of how to access these emotional areas, and Appling "character" to the mix, making you really workable on a set, or in any other professional environment. The second year allows you to be able to really "crawl into someone else??s skin." The second year is crucial to an actor, because let's face it when are you going to be playing a character that is just like yourself unless you just booked "Big Brother." This being said, without the first year, the second year is useless. I have been in classes where they attempt to teach character work without really exploring yourself and how you personally view and react to things and all that this results in is very "acty" acting, and quite simply put in this competitive marketplace, nobody will buy it.

After you have completed Waynes two year program, he allows students to become part of his "professional level" of study. This is a class that takes all of the training and ability that you have amassed, and applies it to a real working context. In this class, you alternate between "work months" where you continue to stretch yourself and grow as an actor, and "casting director months" where you read for casting directors, as well as agent showcases (which is how I got my agent). This level of study is designed to take what you have learned, and start actually working as an actor.

In summation I have to say that Meisner, and Wayne Dvorak are Hollywood??s dirty little secret. A safe and very workable technique, and a caring, professional, highly skilled coach, who will make no predictions on who will be a "star", but if you want to learn how to act, I mean REALLY, REALLY be a GOOD actor, then this is the guy you train with...period!
