What a great surprise it was to go to the zoo that I thought was going to be very small and to my surprise it was huge. Large array of animals from monkeys to an Elephant.

The Santa Ana Zoo is home to lots of cute monkeys! My daughter loves to watch the monkey's swing from branch to branch. On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, I take my daughter to the zoo because it's free to Santa Ana residents. The zoo has a train that trails around the farm, it's an old train brought from Santa's Village. The zoo has many community events, like sleepover's for families

PROS: Small but filled with many creatures!

The Santa Ana Zoo is very small, but the plus side to that is that the kids can easily walk the whole thing without getting too tired. The selection of animals is very small - mainly a few different birds and monkeys. There is a small train ride for an extra $3 and an elephant ride for an extra $5. There is also a petting zoo which was probably the highlight of the whole trip.

This zoo isn't that great. It's cheap and it's close by, but that's about all it has going for it. The animals aren't that entertaining because they are mostly monkeys and other mammals. The park could use some maintenance. The only good thing about this zoo is the elephant ride that is never busy because this zoo isn't that popular or crowded ever.

this zoo is mediocre. it's pretty dirty and needs some maintenance. there isn't that great of a selection of animals to look at, and the ones they do have aren't that spectacular. if you are looking for a great zoo experience, i would make the drive to either the Los Angeles zoo or the San Diego zoo, those would be worth your time and money.

My daughter also loves the Santa Ana Zoo which we dont go to very often since its farther away than the Los Angeles Zoo. My daughter loves the Crean family farm there where she gets to touch the farm animals and feed them. The goats and other farm animals are really gentle and dont mind the kids petting them either.

The Santa Ana Zoo is small, inexpensive and a great way to spend a day with the family. They have a great little petting zoo, and some great featured areas. This place proves that you don't have to be a kid to have fun here. My husband and I went and had a blast. You can find discounts at many locations throughout Orange County.

Small zoo but great for a play date with toddlers...perfect for them to run around and the petting zoo is great fun with the little ones. The bathrooms leave a little to be desired and the actual neighborhood isn't the greatest but for the price-it is well worth it.

PROS: Good price, great petting zoo
CONS: Small selection of animals, dirty restrooms

Why drive all the way to San Diego or up to LA to go to a huge super crowded zoo when you have the Santa Ana zoo in your own backyard? This zoo is never crowded and it has a very relaxed feeling to it. The employees are nice and truly care about the animals which is nice to see. Plus the place is really cheap (not like the bigger zoos). Before spending $30 in gas just to get to the other zoos consider Santa Ana.

Eventhough the Santa Ana Zoo has expanded, I still consider it a small zoo. It is great for littles one to get out and run around. It is rarely crowded and has wonderful animal displays. We go to this zoo every couple of months and we always see something new.

PROS:
CONS: Limited Parking

Went here with my toddlers during the summer and it was too crowded. Went again after school started, we saw every thing! Very happy kids! The place is small enough that we took our time and were able to see everything within a few hours. Last time we bought a season pass. The train is a bit expensive in my opinion.

My kids really enjoy going to the Santa Ana zoo. It is a really nice zoo with a lot of animals to see. My kids love the train and the petting zoo where they get a chance to pet and feed the animals. Admission is just $6 for adults and $3 for kids ages 3-12.

Although the Santa Ana Zoo is comparatively smaller than most zoos, my kids still enjoy going there to see all the various animal exhibitions they have. My kids' favorite stop is the Crean Family Farm where they are able to pet all the various farm animals there. They also have a train called Zoofari Express that my kids like to ride on at an additional fee of $3.

This is a good zoo to check out if you want to have a short, inexpensive day trip. There are a lot of monkeys and smaller animals here, but no large animals.

It is hard to take any photographs of the monkeys since the enclosures are chainlink fences, but some of the other animals (the Bald Eagle, emus) are in open areas and you an take photos of them.

The restrooms are filthy, I went in and walked right back out, it was really nasty.

There is a small shop and snack bar near the entrance.

PROS: Monkeys, quick trip, inexpensive
CONS: Filthy bathrooms, only small animals

Santa Ana Zoo is small but good zoo and you will have fun when you visit there. The entry is free for the Santa Ana residents on some specific day per month and they need to bring some identity proff when they visit it. All others have to pay the desired fee, that is also reasonable. My kid enjoy the visit to zoo and will learn more stuff about animals. Its located in the heart of Santa Ana and have been well connected by OCTA. They have good parking facilities available for all visiters.

This is a very nice zoo for the cost. If you are looking for something extravagent, there is always the San Diego zoo which costs 10 times as much. This is a nice small zoo with not many people there. It is quite and peaceful. There are alot of monkeys.

This little zoo is a small little gem. Its not a huge, comprehensive zoo, but its more of a starter zoo for smaller children. They have a good variety of animals , but the majority are monkeys. They also have a play area for kids, and a snack bar as well.

Between the Santa Ana DMV and the 5 freeway, off a little side street is one of Orange County's hidden treasures, Our very own Santa Ana zoo. The zoo has just been renovated and houses many animals. The people at the zoo are helpful and know their stuff about animals. They have an education center and teachers should check for specials on tours.

We loved it. Petting zoo, cute train, w/ a friendly conductor, that goes right by the animals in the petting zoo- short walk to everything. Plenty of shade from trees. Clean picnic area.
All kinds of animals. Plenty of parking in their lot.

PROS: Cute & Clean
CONS: Long drive

You can spend a day marching through San Diego, but to be honest, if you are looking for a small diverse zoo with plenty to see and do, you can't go wrong here. My kids and I love it.

This is a great little zoo. It is perfect for little kids because it is all flat. There are lots of shade trees, a petting zoo, a playground, and snack bar. They have Elephant rides in the non-summer months too. The zoo features lots of monkeys and small animals. You can bring the kids, take your time, relax and still see everything in a few hours.

Great zoo, clean and easy to visit. The kids will have a lot of fun. They have some endangered species and they just opened the Crean Family Farm where you can experience a farm atmosphere. ALOT OF FUN.

Ok, I know the zoo seems a little cruel but these animals actually like seeing people. They have nothing else to do all day long so the site of new people helps their day be more interesting. It is pretty cheap to get in and for all you Orange County people, it is really close and easy to get into. Not an entire day worth of entertainment but a fun few hours. And if you want to volunteer you can go to their web site and find out more about that

PROS: Small and fun
CONS: Hard to see animals caged

This zoo is really one of my faorites, and I have done a bit of traveling, and seen some zoos. I love that it is small, and close to home, and you can go and take a look, and not sprend your whole day out in the hot sun,. It is clean, and the varitey of animals is great. They have a cute little park outside for the kids, and at one time they had elephant and camel rides as well. You can pack a lunch, and enjoy a little picnic also, and there is plenty of nice shade.

PROS: Small, clean, cool
CONS: Sometimes a little crowded
