Lori gives a great cut. She's got a wry sense of humor and that helps pass the time while she snips at your hair. Tell her what you want done and she'll do it!

If you have curly hair...
by ritelson
If you have curly hair, see Cathy! I used to wear my hair long, and when I wanted to get it cut short, I simply couldn't find a haircutter brave enough to do it. I walked into Isa's for a consultation about 5 years ago and met Cathy. She knew just what to do. I am constantly getting compliments on both my haircut and color. You can't go wrong with Cathy.

Nice People...Bad Haircutting Skills
by dreamer980
I got a referral from a guy who got his haircut here. His looked perfectly fine so I decided to try them out. They are all very nice and were absolutely pleasent to me, however it really does not make up for the bad haircut. I really hate my hair and it is impossible to style right now. She cut it too short and her blowdrying skills were HORRIBLE!!! I would only recommend this place to guys even though it is supposed to b a day spa and seems much more salon like than barber shop.
Pros: Nice People
Cons: Bad Haircut!!!!

The Best & The Worst!
by sfgirl63
I've been here two times for different services and had totally different experience - hence the 5 rating...
First time - eye brow wax/tint by Shannon was AWSOME!! She totally got what I asked for - not too thin and not to look like Groucho Marx! I told her I have really sensitive skin and tend to react to waxing (peeling, bumps) so she took it easy and my reaction was minimal. She is very friendly and efficient but you do not feel rushed at all. The cost is a bit higher than some places ($33 for both) but it is well worth the extra $$ to walk out feeling good.
Second time - "Spa" Manicure & "Spa" pedicure - WHAT A JOKE!!! OK, yes they have one of those fancy chairs but it is in a little cubby/nook barely big enough for it by the drafty back door with a curtain strung on a wire separating you from the hair wash sinks! There is no sink for the manicurist to use so she was literally pouring water from bucket to bucket in order to complete my services! The towels used looked clean but were rather tattered and threadbare. Because they do one service at a time it took almost 2-1/2 hours to complete and it was by no means relaxing. When I read about the "service" on their website I thought it was a bit pricey ($80 for both, not including polish) but it sounded luxuriously wonderful, it was anything but. I was truly disappointed.
Pros: An Eyebrow PRO!!!
Cons: Horrible Manicure/Pedicure Services

The staff at Isa's are lovely and accommodating. Joel and Lisa are both wonderful - they are talented, personable and extremely professional. The receptionist greets me by name and immediately makes me feel at home. I can't say enough great things about the place!

What ARE these people talking about???
by loring315
OK...I just don't get some of the other reviews here. I went to a Supercuts many years ago and can truly say that Isa's is a FAR sight from the horror that Supercuts inflicted on me...The staff at Isa's are VERY friendly (does Supercuts call to remind you of your appointment? NOOOO!), talented, and keep up to date on the latest techniques. I'm VERY particular about who touches my hair. I've had some awful haircuts in my life, and now NO-ONE but Joel touches my hair ever again. He does a fantastic job of matching my personal style and personality to what my hair will actually do! He never fails to delight me and make me feel special when I walk out the door at Isa's. So, all of you who are crying about poor haircuts, maybe it's not the hair that's the problem...Seriously
Pros: Friendly, Atmosphere, Talent

I love going to Isa's. The staff is very friendly and approachable, the atmosphere relaxed but professional. The haircuts are fisrt rate and the waxing and skin care is the best that I've had in the city. it's a complete package!!

I left Isa's feeling like a QUEEN!
by his_royal_fullness
Well let me tell you, I was feeling blah, totally not pretty. Well after spending a Saturday afternoon at Isa's, I felt like a QUEEN! From the moment I walked in and was greeted by a fabulous Michelangelo reproduction (very delicious) until the time I left I felt like royalty. The staff was efficient, courteous, accommodating, and full of smiles. The pedicure was unreal. I wanted to drag Dora home with me, but I relented. My haircut was the best I've gotten in a long time. The color was amazing, Joel's magic made me look 10 years younger. Thanks Isa's, I'll be back!
Pros: Relaxing setting, Easy access to MUNI, Complementary wine!
Cons: Limit on wine!

Best cuts and colors!
by pupa
I've been going to Isas's salon for years now since I moved to SF. Cathy cuts and colors my hair perfectly every time, and I don't know what I'd do if I had to find another hairdresser. Joel and all the others are absolute sweethearts and everyone I know who goes there is satisfied and looks great. I often get stopped by people telling me how great my hair looks and asking for the name of the salon. I highly recommend this salon...all the staff there is great and professional, and the neighborhood sweet for a stroll or lunch afterwards :)
Pros: professional, friendly

Horrible Horrible Horrible
by michels
I've had the unfortunate displeasure of giving these guys and gals another chance, but alas, they again disappoint me. My haircut for which I shelled out an arm an a leg and a finger or two....is mediocre at best. They forgot to schedule my highlights so of course that didn't even get done, not that they tried very hard to accomodate me. The talent here is average Supercuts style.
I definately don't recommend this dump. I've wasted money on the waxing before and while it was done well, I agree with the previous review that wax was left on me. THey are good at eyebrows, but thats it. Lori is pretty nice. I wasn't too impressed with my mani once, my haircuts several times, and definately glad they forgot to schedule my highlights since they prolly would have botched it anyway.
two thumbs down for the lackluster joint....
Pros: none
Cons: terrible cuts, lousy scheduling, overall place tanks

Terrible Hair Cut
by lucyp
I just got my hair cut at Isa's, and it is the worst hair cut that I have ever gotten. I just wanted a trim, but he cut off almost 3 inches. He tried to layer my hair, but he did a terrible job. It looks awful, and as soon as it grows out a bit I will try to get someone to repair the damage.

Not impressed...
by moncada4444
Although the atmosphere of Isa's is great, I got my hair done there more than once, and was not impressed... It's not that they are bad at hair, their skill is just average... The shade they dyed my hair was way too dark, even though they said it washed out it never did... and it cost lots of money!!! Their waxing services are good, but they too are expensive for what you get! Twice I had wax left on me when I left!
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: , Value

a great place to be!
by mcklisa
I love Isa's!! I have since moved out of state, but whenever I have the chance, one of my priority trips is to go to Isa's to get my hair, facials and waxing done. I would gladly travel any distance to get to Isa's... because no one does it like they do!
Pros: knowledge, timing, products
Cons: parking

i *love* isa's. you can just get anything done here. it's fun to make a day of a massage, haircut, facial, etc., you pay at the end of the day, but it's $$$ well spent as far as i'm concerned. lori is wonderful!
Pros: fun atmosphere, great haircuts, good location
Cons: parking
