mmmm chocolatey!

by Jocelyn C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,381

Ghirardelli is famous in SF for its chocolate, and the store is enough to make anyone drool. The prices are INSANE, but I guess that's the cost for good quality. Free samples are rare sadly, but the tiny chocolates (milk chocolate, dark chocolate, whiet chocolate, chocolate w/ caramel) can be pretty cheap if you just want a tiny sample to tide over a chocolate craving.

PROS:
CONS: $$$$$

Chocoholic heaven

by Ciara-Jayne H. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 25

My husband is a chocolate junkie addict. We come here at times to show company from out of town. It is jammed packed with people on any given summer weekend and I suggest taking public transportation. Ghirardelli Square is known all over the world for it's beauty and historic value. The chocolates are made in this factory and can now be seen at every fine stores throughout United States. There are plenty of restaurants you can wine and dine at and little shops along the square. They also have daily historical tours.

Famous Chocolate Factory

by Rachel P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,253

The Ghirardelli Square is a great little mall that used to be a chocolate factory. Now it house several stores and restaurants. It is a very nice shopping mall with even a water fountain in the middle square. There are a few clothing stores, jewelry stores and gift stores as well. An, of course, there are the Ghirardelli chocolate stores as well. Its really close to Fishermans wharf on the west end of it.

A must see

by M. S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,031

Ghirardelli Square is a nice small shopping center located close to the Wharf and the cable car turning station. It is one of the "Must" if you visit San Francisco. There are many very unique stores and restaurants. They have life music outside and nice places to sit. The whole place is very clean and well kept. There is parking in a garage very close by.

Awesome setting!

by D C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,206

You have got to visit this renovated 1800's chocolate factory. Included in the mix of stores are some of San Francisco's best restaurants of which I would recommend any one of them. While you are walking through all of the wonderful shops, make sure to catch one of the regular historic tours.
