I went here to get a cut...my hair was at my shoulders, I was told the cut cost 17.00 with the shampooing included...I got styling & blow drying too. walked out paying 36.00!! blow drying a styling cost 19.00...wish I'd of known that before.I did pay, but shouldn't have. I asked for my hair to be cut at the nap of my neck - she went shorter and I also said don't shave my neck,,,,she did, saying she had too, ugh! the cut itself is a good cut, however I was not told about the cost up front nor did she really listen to me and what I wanted. Alex (female) was the stylist.

Dreadful Stylists Without Eyes for the Cut

I was first drawn to Fantastic Sams to save $$ on my haircuts - their prices are quite competitive. Unfortunately, it was after 6th clip of the scissors that I was - honestly - frightened for the sake of my public image! The stylist hardly payed attention to where the scissors were going but rather allocating massive amounts of brain processing power to the ridiculous task of deciphering the artist of whatever hip-hop tune happened to be playing on the radio.
I kindly faked an importance phone call from my work (I was a bag-boy at Vons - wtf?) and caustically argued for my money back. It wasn't until after the song had ended and the 'stylist' gave up on figuring out the artist that she realized I was no longer in the chair while she was blindly clipping away at air.
Long story short - save your money and drive over to 'The Hair Cut Store' (see my review).
PROS: Cheap in terms of price
CONS: Terrible in terms of quality

Although the front-desk staff seemed to be friendly and accomodating, the rest of the staff was quiet and slow. The hair cut and color took 3 hours-without one mention of what was happening, how much it was going to cost and performing extra services unbeknownst to me. I walked out of there crying at the result and bewildered that I had to PAY for such an awful experience. The manager had tried to work with me, discounting the total price because of their error, but I will never go there again. Why wouldn't you tell your clients whats happening and/or the services you recommend? A surprise for the consumer at the register is never welcome.
PROS: Friendly front-desk staff; clean shop; free coffee
CONS: Perform services without your approval; boring environment
