By far the best mexican food other than home cooking. I had the carnitas and chicken quesadilla. The carnitas were great served with beans and rice great taste!! The complimentary salsa and chips were great and if you like spicy salsa ask for it they got it. I travel the US and this one takes the cake.. Sergio was a great host and recommend this place to anyone that enjoys a good quality meal..
SSG ARREDONDO
I don't even live here anymore, but whenever I'm in Sacramento I come here for Mexican.
The house dressing is awesome. I wish they would bottle it, so I could take some with me. The food is great and really hits the spot. The mole is awesome. My friends and I usually end up ordering everything type of food. I've never had anyone complain about the food. Highly recommended
Owned by three sisters, and located in mid-town, this is the best Mexican restaurant in Sacramento. The food is closer to authentic, less Tex-Mex than places like Ernesto's, and less nouveau than Centro (which is quite good).
The carnitas are crispy and fresh, the tortillas are better than average, and the mole is very good.
A bonus is the nice patio on the side.
Service is friendly and efficient.
The worst service ever. They rushed me with my order and and then literally dumped it on the table as if I was wasting there time. The meal was some what warm and greasy. The server only returned to leave the bill and did not say a word. I'm not going back.
Pros: 0
Cons: bad service
The food is not that good and what makes it even worse is the horrible service. The wait staff is rude and just sets down your plates like they are feeding an animal. I am definitely not returning. They do not make you feel welcomed.
Pros: location
Cons: service, service, and service
I love this little hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint and I quickly became a regular once I discovered it. The food is great and authentic, the atmosphere unique, it is a memorable place. The chicken tacos, carnitas, and fajitas are excellent. I think that the drinks are too strong though and the waitress wouldn't let me send it back, which was disappointing. Usually they are nice, but on a busy night I have had them start to take my plate away while I had a fork with food in my mouth! So while the service may not be the best (it's better when it's not crowded on a weekday), the food keeps me coming back.
Pros: excellent food
Cons: poor service, a little expensive for Mexican food
We come from Southern California where we eat ALOT of mexican food. But this week, we are visiting Sacramento and read the Citysearch review for this restaurant. At first when you look at the outside, it doesn't seem like a lot. But the food is excellent. The chips and salsa are outstanding, especially the salsa.
We had a beef mole enchilada (delicious) and the carnitas (not dry and perfectly flavored). The beef and chicken fajitas were also very good. My sister had the ceviche tostada, which for a restaurant that is not near the coast, was surprisingly fresh and tasty.
The beans and rice were also very good. And the aguas, we had horchata and jamaica, were refreshing and delightful. We also had the chicken and rice soup which is homemade and was delicious.
I wish we lived in Sacramento so we could here more often!
Pros: Food, Service
Cons: Parking
I travel all over the US for business and one of the perks of my job is that I get to try new and different restaurants. Mexican food is one of my absolute favorites and I was very pleased with my meal at Tres Hermanas.
The salsa they brought out with chips soon after I say down was above average on spice (I actually prefer salsa on the spicy side) and it looked and tasted as if someone had chopped the tomatoes, onions and jalapenos just moments before I walked in the door.
I ordered the carnitas for my main course. It came with a salad and I opted for the Mexican Creamy Cilantro dressing. I have never had dressing like this before! It was so good that I was tempted to lick the plate when I was done! When the carnitas came, it was as good or better than the salsa and salad. The pork was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and had a perfect spice and flavor.
The only bad thing about Tres Hermanas is that I live in Seattle and can't come here more often! If you live near Sacramento, you owe it to yourself to make Tres Hermanas a regular stop.
Pros: Amazing food!
Cons: Too far from my house
Very good food every time I ordered something else / about 10 x so far/
Friendly staff no problems, sometimes slow or forget something as every human does so NO problem here.
There are at least two sides to every story so if staff was "rude" maybe the customer was out of line too. I hate customers being rude and I have no problem with staff fight back. There are limits to customer service.
So chill out, throw away checlist and enjoy this restaurant. You won't be disappointed if you're not a customer-service-freak.
Pros: food, ambience
Cons: none
Well, after reading the reviews here, we were pretty excited to try a new Mexican restaurant in Sacramento. The place is charming, really liked the setting. The service was great too. We sat outside in the patio with our 2 teenage daughters. First, we thought the salsa that came with the chips was good, but too hot! Couldn't enjoy very much of this. I had a margarita, which came in a low glass and average tasting, at best and overpriced for what you get. My daughter orders bean burritos wherever she goes and proclaimed this one just "ok". I ordered a chicken taco and chicken enchilada with chili verde sauce. The taco was very good, but the enchilada was so hot, I couldn't eat much of it. My daughter did notice it said on the menu that the green sauce was hot, so that's my fault. But, I love ordering green sauce on my Mexican food and have never had it that hot. If I did go back (not likely), I'd stick with the tacos and get a beer. We ordered the flan and fried ice cream for dessert and were surprised by the strange, spongy (not smooth) consistancy of the flan. Overall, a disappointing eating experience, but liked the ambiance.
Pros: ambience, service
Cons: spicy!
Great food, great service, great sangria and margaritas. Not to be missed for a flavorful Mexican dinner.
Pros: Food, service
Cons: None
My girlfriends and I were out shopping and found this great restaurant. The outdoor patio was perfect for people watching and enjoying the weather. Food is great and service is friendly. Must must must go.
Not to say I ever stop searching, but this is the best Mexican Restaurant I've found in Sacramento. The ambience is really pretty incredible; full of color, dark but not too dark, pretty romantic. The service is also excellent. This is the type of place where the staff remember what you ordered the last time you came in. It's a rare thing these days to find such a successful restaurant that is family run and staffed.
Most importantly the food is very good. The salsa is probably what keeps me coming back the most. It's so authentic that you're never sure exactly how spicy it's going to be. If you prefer chicken or steak over pork, you'll definitely find something you like here. I have at times found the pork at Tres Hermanas to be too dry. Anything else is pretty hard to go wrong with.
Pros: Food, Ambience, Service
Cons: nada
I have lived in Sacramento all my life and have been to many, many Mexican restaurants here, just about every one of them. This place has the best food, hands down! Their salsa is the absolute best I've ever tasted in my entire life. And the creamy cilantro (house) salad dressing is simply outa this world!
Tres is a perfect 10. Have been going there for years now and it is always fabulous, every time!
Pros: Delicious
Called 2 days in advance and was told I was able to make reservations for outdoor dining for 4, which I did. When arrived, was told outdoor seating was full. When I mentioned I had RSVP'd, both hostesses just turned their backs and walked away! No explanation, no apology. Then I was hoping for good food once we got seated, but the food was also a disappointment. I won't go back.
Pros: Patio Seating
Cons: , Food not worth price
Authentic, flavorful food with good value is what we found- excellent service for us, because we didn't need to mull over what to order - like the table next to us that arrived before us and served after us - the Magaritas were average but the Mex. chix-soup, carne-asada and chix-quesadilla for our son was delicious along with fresh salsa and warm unlimited chips on the patio dining on a pleasant sac. afternoon.
Pros: attentive, good value, fresh-authentic
Cons: , small restroom
I really like this place. Good food, good service. It is nice to sit out on the patio and enjoy beer and chips.
Las Tres Hermanas restaurants each have their own appealing qualities. The midtown location near ricks desert diner (if ricks is still there) reminds me of the little alley way recesses in some of the small Mexican towns and some of the byways one encounters in Lisbon, Portugal, or Seville, Spain. The food at each reminded me of home in SoCalifUSA. It was just spicy enough without being too spicy for the average palate so that I did not have to request a more piquant sauce to add.
Keep it up!
This restaurant was a complete letdown. It was incredibly overpriced and the food was terrible. I've had much better food for much better prices and the only good thing about this place was that it was easy to find and it has a cute exterior. If you are looking for authentic, flavorful food, do not eat here. You will be wasting your money. For those with bland tastebuds, you will love it.
Pros: decor
Cons: , quality
After Ernestos went to pot, my wife and I tried Tres Hermanas and never went anywhere else since! The food is great and fast and the chips are fresh. Good carnitas, though not as tasty as Ernestos once was. Service has been almost always great-sometimes a little slow to bring the check, but never rude! Try it, you'll not be disappointed.
Pros: Great Food, Nice Ambience
of all the mexican restaurants in sacramento, by far tres hermanas is the best bar none, Ernestos has nothing on this gem in the heart of midtown sacramento ive been a long term resident and have been a loyal patron tres hermanas for the food, its the best most autentic in town.
I have never had a problem with rude wait staff here. In fact, they have always been more than accomodating especially when I dine there with children.
Casual atmosphere. Good portions. Have had several items on the menu and all are good. Two flavors of salsa accompany chips when seated.
Only thing I would like to see change is for them to be able to serve tequila margaritas.
It doesn't matter how good the food is, or if it is inexpensive - if the staff are rude - I won't go back. Enough reviewers have reported this - Tres Hermanas needs to take this to heart!
Have eaten here many times, and have always had friendly service and authentic tasting food.
Pros: authentic, friendly
I grew up in Texas where Mexican food is king. I have travled to Northern Mexico several times as well. Tres Hermanas is authenic, consistent and delicious.
