I owe a lot to this wonderful school for helping to raise my son to become a man. As a single mom it was hard for me to raise my son while having to work to make a living. Master Kang and all of the instructors guided my son to go the right direction so that he could have a better future. All of my friends always commented on how respectful and disciplined my son was. They were all having trouble with their teenagers and I totally give credit to Kang's for my son turning out the way he did. He earned his black belt, graduated high school with an A average and got accepted to M.I.T.! I am so proud of him! Anyways, can't say enough good things about this school, it was the best investment I could have made for my son.

My son goes to the Walnut Creek School, but the Antioch school is just as great. I met the Head Instructor there and she is amazing. She is highly respected by all of the students and even I feel a bit intimidated. She really knows what she is doing, and I heard she has been practicing martial arts for a very long time. She acts way beyond her years and truly demonstrates how much taekwondo can really do for your child. I hope my son can be as disciplined and self sufficient as her. She is very caring, and I can tell all the girls and boys look up to her. She is able to teach any age. I'm even thinking about joining now, because I met one of her adult students. He's a good guy and has his boys in taekwondo as well. They are way ahead of me and my son, but that's ok. They said I could join anytime and that the classes would be fit to me. I don't have to worry about falling behind or not being in shape enough. I can go at my own pace.

Originally, I had to force my son to join. He wasn't very enthusiastic about it, and I know he hates to exercise. But after awhile he warmed up to it. He's having fun now and looks forward to going every week. He's even slimmed down a bit and is interested in trying new things. I recently paid to put him in the weapons program and he's really excited. He practices every day, and it didn't cost that much for him to join. He even told me about the Black Belt Club program. They get to do weapons class for free and have extra special training. It's something for him to look forward to and work harder for. I'm very proud of him and am glad I made him go. He's made some new friends that he can also hang out with at school, because they are in the same neighborhood as us. Pretty soon he'll most likely join their after school program. I'm glad he's finally found something to be passionate about, and I like that he is safe and active in a good environment. No more sitting on the couch playing playstation or xbox. It's hard enough when he has to do how many hours of homework everyday. Getting up and learning something as cool as this gives him some balance.

Thanks to the instructors he's also bucked up a lot. They care about him and teach him how to be a man by accepting responsibility. It's hard for me, because I work all the time. But I'm glad to have these guys back me up. We're like a team.

Hi ya'll, just wanted to share my experience in finding the top martial arts school. After about two months of researching local schools in the Antioch, Brentwood, Pittsburg, Oakley area I was quite surprised at what I found. I first called every school and for most of them I had to leave a message. Most didn't get back to me until a week later! Kang's Tae Kwon Do Academy called me back the same day and invited me to try the Introductory Course. After telling them that I just wanted to watch a class with my chidren they welcomed me with no pushy sales. When I arrived I was quickly greeted, instead of looking for a staff member like at some of the schools. After just 5 minutes of watching class I was truly amazed of the structure, discipline and the caring but yet firm way of working with the children. I am not a martial artist myself, but after careful review of all the schools I definitely can tell the students are much better and sharper here. Some of those other schools just seemed like a bad daycare center with no discipline and bad attitudes! The instructors are awesome and the place doesn't stink like some others.

Now don't get me wrong, this school is not the cheapest in terms of dollars. However, it is definitely worth it. I am confident that they are learning from the best. This school was further away from my house but I have always been willing to take the extra time if it would benefit my children. I'm sure many of you feel the same way!

Do yourself a favor by trying out this school! They have their hearts in the right place. You won't be disappointed. Hope this helps!!!

One of my friends told me about this school and all the good things it did for her daughter. So I decided to start my kids too.

Starting my kids at Kang's has really helped them in school. They've been training for a year and are almost ready to move up to the next level. I think the positive environment has really helped them. Their focus and concentration has improved so that they can do their homework and work on their own. I have a son and two daughters who used to get really frustrated when they didn't get something, and they were always getting distracted. But now they don't get as frustrated anymore. They're able to focus a lot better too and they fight with each other less! It must be because of their martial arts training. I'm very thankful to Ms. M and Master Kang for his patience and firm guidance.
At Kang's my kids have learned not only to kick and punch, but how to apply themselves and learn to succeed. They don't give up so easily, and I know that's because of taekwondo.

This school is the best around!! You should definitely enroll in their program. They have all the correct certifications and their instructors are recognized by the NCTA, California Taekwondo Association, and Kukkiwon. Their master and black belts are all registered by the World Taekwondo Federation in Korea. They also have instructor certification!
They have a very flexible class schedule with a variety of lessons.
This school provides their students with an excellent facility, staff, and a knowledge of good martial arts. Self-defense, Olympic sparring, Demonstration, Breaking, weapons. They also teach their students about taekwondo philosophy, history, and culture. This is a first rate school! It focuses not only on the physical aspect but also allows their students to grow as human beings. The instructors are very patient and have taught my kids many life lessons about respect and perseverance.

My family DEFINITELY recommends Kang's Taekwondo Academy

My buddy told me about the Haganah program there and convinced me to try it out. I love it!
I've only gone a few times, but I think I'm going to make it full time now.
So far, I've learned gun and knife defense that I could apply to 4 scenarios. There's regular hand self defense that goes with it too. It's a good work out and easy to learn. The guys there taught me to funnel it all down to one move that means if I can get there the fight is practically over. You don't have to wear a uniform or anything and this kind of program is only meant for the die hard serious people who really want to learn to defend themselves. It's very straight to the point, and I don't feel like i'm wasting my time. Some of the tactics can be brutal...But it's either that or get killed..so I'm glad to be learning.
It's a good outlet for my stress, and we practice with the real intensity of the situation in mind.

I'm going to bring my teenage brother in to do it with me soon so that he can learn too.

Both my kids were a part of this program in years past. Compared to other martial arts schools they were more expensive but we stuck with it for their traditional teaching style. Master Lee was the instructor there at the time and worked really well with the kids. But since his departure, the school's culture seemed to have changed and gave more of a sense of being more of an expense liability than a benefit. I'm not sure how they are doing now but I know of other parents that have also pulled out of the program.

We joined this program due to close friends of ours that had their son in the program. The program seemed to be good for the kids until our work schedule changed and the kids began missing lessons. We were set up on an autopay with them month after month and it got to a point were we were just throwing our money away. At past martial arts schools the kids were a part of, they were always willing to help make it for us and show concern of really wanting to kids be part of the school. But with Kang's we never had that same customer service. The instructors seemed good but the administrative side of things was lacking.
