A DESCENT INTO DINING HELL. Avoid the Greek Corner Restaurant like the plague. Our experience here was so bad it's almost beyond words. The entire experience was surreal and downright weird and felt like a David Lynch movie. At any moment I expected someone to jump out from behind the counter and say "You've just been pranked!" The most offensive part of the experience was that the owner was dishonest with us and engaged in fraud with our check. More on that later.
Our first clue as to what we were going to experience should have been that at 7:00pm on a Saturday night there were two people in the entire restaurant. What kind of restaurant has two guests at prime time hours on a Saturday night? We found out through first hand experience, a bad one. My girlfriend thought that this might be because most people do takeout orders at this particular restaurant, but no, not a single person walked through the doors from 7:00 - 8:30pm.
It was a very cold November evening, and this is no exaggeration, the temperature in the restaurant was like a meat locker. The doors were ajar and propped wide open with a cold breeze blowing in and there was absolutely no heat circulating although I did see heating vents in the restaurant.
When the Chicken Kabob plate arrived I thought we had accidentally ordered the kid's meal. This DINNER entree had one skewer with several small pieces of chicken that were about half the size of the chicken pieces you would get on a Kabob at any other Greek restaurant on a LUNCH menu. The kabob also had several very small shriveled up pieces of zucchini. The entree plate had a spoonful of rice, four small pieces of pita bread and half the plate consisted of a small salad. There was also a small bowl of lentil soup included with the meal. The soup was good. The rest of the food tasted OK but the portion size was way too small for the price that was charged. One of the beverages we ordered was homemade lemonade and when we asked my girlfriend's daughter how the lemonade was she said "no comment." Apparently the lemonade was lemon water.
We discovered this restaurant through http://Restaurant.com and we bought their dining certificate. I made sure to mention the certificate before we ordered and the owner told us it was no problem. The entire restaurant was being staffed by one person, the owner, and the process of paying the check was the worst I have ever experienced. After we finished our meal we patiently waited for our check, and waited and waited and waited. Keep in mind there is no one else in the restaurant but us. I finally had to go up to the front counter to find someone to pay our bill and there was no one anywhere to be found. I could have robbed the cash register, walked out with their flat screen TV and all their Baklava and no one would have known what happened.
Approximately 10 minutes after I went up to the front counter the owner emerged from the back of the restaurant. This is when things really got interesting. The check we were presented with was fraudulent. First of all the prices we were charged for our entrees were higher than the prices listed on the menu and posted on sign above the front counter. Then the owner forced us to inflate our check by telling us that we had to make an additional purchase because we had not ordered enough to use the http://Restaurant.com certificate that we had purchased. We had ordered three meals and beverages (no alcohol) and the amount spent was over the $35 required. Rather than create a scene I told him to give us some Baklava to go. Well, the price he charged us for the Baklava was also higher than the posted menu price! Then when I asked him to calculate our check he literally took 10 minutes with a calculator to come up with a number while we stood there waiting. Then the amount he gave us was wrong and he overcharged us. There was NO itemized check provided as at any other restaurant. The owner just came up with a number on his calculator. After he gave us an inflated price of $63 for he told us that we owed $40. But the http://Restaurant.com dining certificate that we purchased was for $25! $63 minus $25 = $40? I don't know if the owner was senile, mentally ill or just trying to scam us. Probably all three.
I had read some decent user reviews for this restaurant but upon looking at them more closely I see they are mostly older reviews from 2007 and 2008 and that most of the recent reviews rate the restaurant poorly. The Greek Corner has apparently gone downhill in a bad way and it starts at the top with the owner. There is no restaurant I have ever seen that is run like this. I wonder how this place could possibly stay in business. STAY AWAY FROM THE GREEK CORNER RESTAURANT. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER.

Love their spanakopita and gyros plate. The salads are fresh and the portions are generous. It's not too busy and certainly deserves more customer flow-through. Friendly and personable staff.

This place has great food and service. My favorites are the grilled chicken Greek salad, the vegetarian combo plate and the chicken kabob plate. Everything is freshly prepared.
