DOGGY DAY CARE!

by Shannon W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,393

This is one of the best places to get your dog to stay at a day care, they treat your dog extremely well and the workers there are extremely nice to the dogs. Not only do they babysit your dogs, they manage to even teach them some manners too! My dog became much more sociable with other dogs and it was great to see her getting along with some instead of barking at them like crazy.

Pet Day Care is great

by B J. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,159

When i got my new pet i was really worried that i would have to leave him home alone while I am at work. my co worker told me about this place and i was really pleased with the service. the prices are not that bad and my dog really likes the place. it's a great place to take your dog and it's also great to find other people that can relate with you and have the same love for their pets. I also have noticed a really improvement in the overall happiness of my dog. being able to socialize with other dogs has really done wonders for his socialization skills before, he was really timid now he has no problems being around other dogs.

Dogs Perfect Life

by TreeWoman

My bichon, Jake, has been going since he was 7 months -is now 3 years - and dearly loves it. He goes for day care once or twice a week for the play and stimulation of being with the other dogs. I investigated other places, but no where else comes close to the care and attention that he receives here.

I call it "sport camp" when he boards - he comes back strong and buffed from the constant play.

He's happy, I know he's safe, well cared for and given lots of attention. That's perfection.

Pros: excellent day care, excellent boarding

Cons: no cons

Skeptics now Believers

by LevinsonSF

We left our precious Havanese with the Hound Lounge for overnight boarding for a week as we traveled East to visit our daughter in college and couldn't take her with. We called and were told she was doing fine but until we returned home and saw her; one never knows. Our dog was very relaxed and in great shape. We knew instantly that she was well taken care of. I would highly recommend the SF Hound Lounge to anyone without any reservations.

Perfect for our somewhat neurotic pooch!

by mookira

We've tried several doggie day cares, and Hound Lounge is the only doggie daycare that recieved the approval of our two dogs. They love it there! One of our pups is very gentle and sweet but has severe sound phobias and can't be left at home alone for extended periods. We've tried other daycares but had bad experiences with her crying the whole way to center, and she even tried to escape one facility. Then we found Hound Lounge and now everyone is happy. The staff clearly love the dogs and give them alot of attention. Our dogs love going there and we drop them off knowing they're safe, happy and well cared for.

Pros: Caring and safe environment

Cons: None!

best doggie day care in SF

by mlfsf

my portie Hudson LOVES going to the Lounge! The staff treat her with great kindness, and she's always happily tired at the end of the day. I've also boarded her there over several weekends, then ultimate sign of trust. Bring your pooch to the Lounge!

Pros: caring staff, clean facility

Cons: sometimes hard to park in neighborhood

Best of Breed Doggie Day Care

by popmusicguy

Great owners and staff who know every dog individually. I feel completely secure leaving my 80 lb. baby with them every day, knowing that he'll play and be well taken care of, rather than sitting around all day waiting for a dog walker to show up. Availablility of nail clipping and baths is also great. Nice little perks like remembering my dog's birthday with treats. I couldn't be happier. Real attention paid to each dog's well-being.

Pros: Excellent care. Convenient hours. Nice little perks throughout the year.

Cons: None.

Terrific doggie day care

by scarlet19

The Hound Lounge is terrific. Ashley and Doug run a great business and hire very caring and diligent staff. They pre-screen all new dogs to insure that they will fit at the Hound Lounge and then provide personal attention to insure that each dog's individual needs are met. I can drive up to the Hound Lounge any time of the day and it is quiet--no dogs barking or howling--just the sound of paws playing. I drive past at least 3 or 4 other doggie day cares on my commute to the Hound Lounge, but feel it is worth going out of my way in order for my dog to have great care and lots of fun while I am at work. My dog has been going to the Hound Lounge for almost 3 years.

Pros: Great staff and management, large space, clean, quiet, friendly

SadieChi's 'Other Home'

by verveinite

This a great place for a shy, little dog! Sadie Chihuahua has been going for over two years. She likes it here as much as she can like any place and that's saying something for Ms. Timid. They have a separate small dog area, yay! Professional, clean, safe, fun environment and caring, responsive owners/staff. On-site grooming - it's the best Sadie's ever looked. Plus boarding services (with some prereqs). I love seeing her wiggling her li'l butt when she sees the staff.

Pros: Separate small dog area, caring staff, clean facility, extra services

Happy place for dogs!

by andrew_littlefield

We've been sending our dogs to SF Hound Lounge for the last six months, and they really seem to love it there.

It's clear that all of the staff really love animals and really enjoy their work and my dogs seem really attached to at least 2-3 members of their staff.

Otherwise their facility is heated during winter and airy during summer. Finally their overnight boarding is excellent, one of their staff actaully looked after my dogs at their house, so when I arrived back to pick them up they didn't want to leave!

Pros: loving staff, good facilities

A Home away from Home

by metthouse

When my dog Jagger first started going to 'The Lounge' he was 3 months old and got to hang out in the 'Small Dog Area'. Being a Swiss Mountain Dog the staff knew that it was only a matter of time before he was one of the bigger dogs in tha facility. They took the time to take Jagger out of the small area and into the big dog area so he could start to get use to hanging with the big guys. Not only was that a thoughtful process but Doug the owner would make videos that he gave me when I picked him up to show me how he was interacting with the big dogs. 8 months later he is now over 100lbs. He use to come to work with me a few days a week but it was clear he liked hanging with the Lounge Staff and chasing his pals through dog houses and barrells more than laying on the couch in my office and listening to me make calls all day.

The staff is thoughtful, caring and responsive to anything that might be affecting my dog. They give report cards on his behaviour and anything that I should be aware or look out for. The Lounge staff are really partners with me in my dogs life. I have also boarded Jagger with them and it is really great to not have to worry about my pup when I am away. I know when he is there he isn't thinking of me, just having a blast.

As for the facility it is set-up properly, it is clean, and everytime I go there dogs are either on their way out for a walk or coming back which is nice to know that they are not inside all day long. I have seen the videos of Jagger rolling around on the floor and never comes home smelling funky....and that is worth a lot when he jumps in bed!

Pros: Thumbs Up

Cons: None

Simply The Best!!!

by pprestin

I recently relocated to the West Coast and was nervous about finding a safe and fun daycare for my dog. My nerves were quickly settled once I met Ashley & Doug, the great owners of this top-notch facility. I appreciated the fact that they wanted to meet my dog to make sure that SF Hound Lounge was the right place for him. The entire staff is friendly and more importantly LOVES dogs! They showed both kindness and patience while Bate got adjusted to living in a new city and it has been such a relief to know that when he is there I needn't worry about him at all. Bate passes out before I pull away from the place so I know he's having a great time. I would feel just as comfortable leaving a child with them (not that they would want that!!!). I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe, reliable and immaculate daycare facility.

Pros: safe, clean, reliable

Best Dog Daycare in the City - bar none !

by bill94114

I interviewed several doggie daycare businesses in and around San Francisco before selecting SFHoundlounge. None of the others could compare to what these folks offer. On a daily basis they must have an average of 30-40 dogs in thier facility, and yet when you walk in the front door you can't smell dogs! The place is spotless, clean, and plenty of fresh air. They are constantly cleaning, picking up, and disinfecting. You could eat a meal in the middle of the dog play room ( about 5,000 sq ft.) and enjoy it. I'm not kidding ( although you might have noses in your plate ).

The staff, some of whom volunteer at the Sf SPCA, all use positive and non aversive techniques in managing the dogs. My dog is so excited when we pull up in front that it's hard for him to wait while I'm getting the leash ready. He's thrilled to be there, and that told me a lot as well. He actually tries to push the glass front door open with his nose to get inside quicker. I love to see that. I feel good leaving him there because I know he's happy.

When I pick him up he's so tired from a day of dog-dog play and a walk or two, that he usually sleeps in the car on the way home. I never have a behavior problem on a evening when he's been to the houndlounge. He's just too tired from all the play !

I've also had them board him overnight on occasion. They're the only people I'd trust with that. I never give a second thought to leaving him with SF Houndlounge. They really are amazing people.

If you think you can find a better place, at any price, let me know. Thus far, I haven't been able too.

Bill

Pros: Clean, great people, friendly

Cons: parking is limited but fine for drop off / pick up

The Best in Doggy day care!

by michellina27

My little dog Mochi has been going to SF Hound Lounge for almost a year, and we both love it! Everyone is so nice and treats her like thier own pet. I'm always informed on her behavior and who she played with each day, as well as anything new I should know about. She's never had any issues with the other dogs in day care, and SF Hound Lounge knows how every dog interacts with others. I even got a video of her playing during day care. They are all professional and extremely courteous. Your dog would be lucky to have such a fun and safe place to play every day!

Pros: great staff, great value, convenient

Dog is in Love! Trustworthy

by txserin

Our pup has been going to the SF Hound Lounge for over a year. The two owners are SO nice. They really show a sincere interest in him. Its not like he is just another dog. I appreciate their proffesionalism and screening process. Lets face it, dogs are a part of the family for many of us, and feeling like they are in a secure and safe environment is paramount.

The staff there is great as well. They are really sweet and loving to our pup and us!

Pros: good location, easy drop off, great people

HORRIBLE customer service

by nic3309

I called SFHL asking if I could view their facility at a convient time for them, to see if I was interested in taking my dog there. I was very rudely told that was not an option, but I could pay $20 for my dog interview (necessary if I want to enroll my dog in daycare there) and view the facility at that time. I explained I wasn't ready to enroll, just comparison shopping. They wouldn't let me peek without paying, which is insane. Every other dog day care place has let me come by, and has been happy to answer my questions. Don't take your dog here, if they're this rude to people imagine how they treat dogs.

Cons: rude customer service, manager is not nice

Puppy Heaven

by erin16

SF Hound Lounge staff is AMAZING! My small dog Renzo leaps out of the car when we arrive. The seperation of the big and small dogs is great. The staff are very caring - and provide specia attention to the dogs needs. Also lots of reinforcng of good dog manners. I have to relocate to NY and the hound lounge will be the toughest thing to replicate.

Pros: Cleanliness, Kind, High Quality Care

Individualized Play Time

by suzannehering

After his first day at the Hound Lounge, our puppy came home totally wiped out. The owner advised that if he had had to much playtime, that they could adjustment his schedule. We agreed that our puppy would probably benefit from a two hour nap in the afternoon. Now with his nap, he now gets just the right amount of playtime and arrives home tired but happy. Just what we wanted from day care. I appreciate the professional and personal service and care for each pup. I also appreciate the large play areas for both the small dogs and pups and the very large area for big dogs.

Pros: experienced staff, cleanliness, space & toys

My dog would leave me and live here if she could

by lindertke

In a nutshell, the Hound Lounge is clean, spacious, friendly, and convenient (in terms of hours open). On top of that, the staff really take the dog's welfare into consideration: dogs are kept in appropriate play groups, they get naps when appropriate, the dogs are fed/not fed according to the owner preference, they have toys to play with, and they are watched for any potential signs of illness. I don't think childcare facilities take this much care of their clients! My dog couldn't be happier when she hears "Hound Lounge", and the staff really couldn't be any nicer.

Pros: Fantastic staff, Convenient drop-off, Fantastic dogcare

nutters for the lounge

by hannebarnes

I know I love the hound lounge but my opinion does not matter nearly as much as my two beagles who are NUTTERS about the lounge. My dogs can be stoic but they wag their tails and act goofy to everyone there as well as all the other dogs. The best unexpected bonus is that they bump into doggy chums from the lounge at the parks on weekends and go beserk.

Pros: clean, super friendly, quiet

TLC for your dog

by kballoun

The staff is excellent - caring, friendly and accommodating - and cleanliness is a priority. They take a dog's special needs into account (ours is a greyhound). We are very lucky to have found this day care. We know our "baby" spends the day having fun and being loved (in between naps).

Our pup LOVES the Hound Lounge!

by stomsf

The Hound Lounge is the best -- our pup Ruth Ann had her Sirius Dog Training classes there and loved it so much she made it her 2nd home! The staff there are awesome with dogs and Ruth Ann loves every one of them. Your dog will love you even more after a day at the Hound Lounge.

Pros: Location, Parking, Staff

Cons: Price, but worth it

SF Hound Lounge

by peety9

Terrific place for our Shih Tzu, Peety, to play with his buddies and slumber party when Mom is on travel. Care is loving and tender and facility is immaculate. Big deal is that the dogs are not caged, but separated by size for play time. Peety loves going to the hound lounge- tail wagging all the way

Pros: parking, tender care, priced fairly

Cons: 1day/wk for boarding

The best doggie daycare!

by sophies_mom

"The Lounge is a wonderful place to take your loved pet. Dogs are 'interviewed' to make sure their behavior will fit into the group of well behaved, fun loving dogs. The staff cares for your baby as if he/she were their own. My Sophie runs to the front door to get in to play with her friends, and I know she has had a good day of fun when she zonks out early in the evening. Your dog will love it here!"
