Michelle Matthews & Gail Spriggs Matthews

by Holland V. | insider Insider | Rank: 24,159

Michelle Matthews of Glendora Pet's Delight must be connected with Gail Spriggs (aka Gail Mattews) of Pet's Delight, South Pasadena. Both are abysmal women who trade in puppy-mill suffering. Pet's Delight is a fright and should be shut down in every town.

Pet's Delight is only one front for this Puppy Mill

by Sooner F.

I think everyone who has issues with this individual should get together and put all efforts together. If we get together and push this as a whole instead of onesy - twosey it, we may make a louder voice in the community. I know I have talked to the DA's office and the ASPCA and Pasadena PD and have been blown off. Plus this woman is using a new buisness called Elite Board Shop as a new front. Feel free to contact me at soonerfan462@roadrunner.com if you are interested to take this further. I am currently in contact with local news agencies...they need to be shut down.

Pet's Delight MUST BE SHUT DOWN

by Tan T.

I need someone to help me out here, desperately. My puppy was given to me as a gift in 2003. He was bought from Pet's Delight. He turned out to have epilepsy. Besides the thousands of dollars I've spent on his treatment and medical care, the emotional pain has become intolerable, as I was forced to put my baby down last week. Please help me =*( I can't believe all these things I',m reading about this store.

Thanks for the "Heads Up"

by Lisa C.

Took my beloved pet to be groomed based on a neighbors recommedation - made appt, dropped off my dog and they stated she would be ready for pick up within a couple of hours since not busy - three hours later I called; stated she would be ready within 1/2 hour, just finishing drying her coat - got there and she still wasn't ready and had to wait another 30 - 40 minutes -- within a few days my dog had a yeast infections in ears? I then read all of the review's for Pet's Delight. I will never put my dog in harms way via Pet's Delight in Glendora. Thank you all that have taken the time to rate this so called "pet's store"

In response to "Nicole R"

by Alyssa K.

If you purchase a puppy from Pet's Delight then you are supporting Puppy Mills. Pet's Delight purchases their puppies from these horrible puppy mills.

When you make your purchase, make sure you have a lot of money saved because chances are you will be treating a very sick puppy (and who knows for how long).

Pet's Delight are crooks and liars. They will ROB you blind. Do your homework, Nicole. For God's sake - why on earth would you purchase an animal from Pet's Delight when you know that that animal has come from horrible conditions? After all the information you have read on Pet's Delight and you still want to purchase a puppy from Pet's Delight because someone was nice to you in the store? Wake up - they are all nice to you until you have a problem. After that they don't give a damn about you.

If you purchase a puppy from Pet's Delight then you support Puppy Mills.

bad workers

by Anonymous

I visited the Glendora shop under the knowledge that they were under new ownership. The treatment i got there was the same as before. There was a young lady in the front of the store smoking a cigarette and on the phone when i entered she didn't even acknowledge me. As i walked around the store there were no other employees there to help out. After spending about five minutes in the store the young lady came in and asked if i was going to buy anything. I had then asked her for her name. She told me her name was Kimberly and then said if i needed anything to let her know. I browsed a little longer in that period of time Kimberly had then gotten back on the phone which was apparently a personal call as i heard her saying I love you and blowing kisses into the phone. I had wanted to purchase a bunny for my nephew but since she seemed to care more about chatting on the phone then tending to customers I decided to leave.

Pet's Delight loses in Small Claims

by Anonymous

Your contract didn't hold up in court Shannon. WE WON!

Now you have to fork up all the medical costs we had to pay out of pocket to get our puppy well.

Didn't you read your own "Lemon Law" paper? It states that you CANNOT sell a puppy until the puppy has been given a thorough examination by a licensed vet. You sold us a very sick puppy for $599.99. Our puppy was "unfit for sale"... and that's a no no Shannon.

Do not purchase puppies from Pet's Delight. My girlfriend was sold a puppy for $2000.00 (purebred). IT ISN'T A PUREBRED. She has never, to this date, received paperwork on where the puppy orignated or its purebred papers. She owns a mut - not a purebred and paid all that money.

Hey Shannon - is the check in the mail YET!

Worst Pet Store EVER - Owner is a crook and a Liar

by Kara W.

Bottom line is that Pet's Delight purchases their puppies from puppy mills and chances are you will either purchase (at a VERY high price) a puppy that is extremely sick or a puppy that Pet's Delight claims is a purebread BUT it is NOT.

The City of Glendora should shut this place DOWN. They are ripping off customers left and right. Ms. Anderson is a crook and a liar and is only out for one thing - to rip off consumers for big bucks by selling extremely ill puppies and bogus purebreds.

Read the reviews below. It says it all. Many people are fed up with business's ripping them off. The Pet's Delight in Glendora and in Covina are run by the same people. Teenagers that run the Covina store know absolutely nothing about animals. Most of their time spent is smoking outside the business with friends who come by to visit.

Don't allow Pet's Delight to rip you off. Don't purchase animals from these pet stores. Take them to court and stand up for your rights.

Do NOT buy from Pet's Delight

by Michelle H.

My daughter and her then boyfriend purchased what was suppose to be a teacup Maltese in 2003 or 2004 and still have not gotten the paperwork. She tried many times to get someone to call her back and visited the store, but to no avail. Thankfully, he was not ill, but he is NOT a teacup Maltese, he weighs 9 lbs. I have told everyone I know, not to buy a pet from Pets Delight. Spread the word! i had a friend who took her dog to be groomed there and he died while in their care. This place is not to be trusted!

Marketing dogs as purebred no reg. papers get 75% of your purchase back

by Anonymous

*If anyone purchased a puppy and was told that it was a purebred and did not get their registration paperwork within 120 days by CA law they have to refund 75% of your purchase. Even though you will get the run around from the store they have to return your money. If you still get no response spend $50 and take them to small claims court and get your money back this is the law which they are continually breaking! Most of the times judges will make the company pay for your legal cost for taking them to small claims court so you will get 75% of your purchase as well as your court cost. This information is in your contract when you purchase your dog which is signed by you & the owner. In my situation just threatening to sue eventually got my refund. Just keep calling stay persistent! Below is my experience with pet's delight in glendora & unfortunately from reading reviews and researching the store I am not the first person this happened to it's against the law so please fight and get your refund.

I purchased a Yorkie puppy from this store over four months ago this puppy was supposed to be purebred with papers from the apr. When I purchased this puppy I was instructed to take her to their contracted vet at south glendora animal hospital the vet was extremely rude and his whole examine consisted of taking her temperature (which he jammed the thermometer in her so hard she cried) and then turning her upside down and patting her tummy saying she's healthy the examine lasted two minutes with no explanation on when her series of shots should start. I was supposed to receive the registration papers for my puppy within 120 days. After around 90 days I returned to the pet store for more puppy food and inquired on the registration papers I was told by Nick who was extremely rude to just wait 120 days. Well 110 days later I get kind of worried no contact at all from the store so I begin calling I spoke with Nick who said again to wait and that I would have the documentation in 120 days. 118 days later I call again, and once again get the run around. So 120 days later there is still no registration paperwork for my supposed purebred dog which I paid two grand for. I call talk to Nick, Christina, Elizabeth, Jennifer as well as the owner Shannon and get the complete run around. Saying they will call back, they can't find the paperwork etc I made 40 plus calls to the store with no success. Then I begin researching the store they have a dd rating with the better business bureau, tons of complaints online, as well as people claiming their dogs are from puppy mills and died shortly after purchase. I read my paperwork and by California law if they represent a dog as a purebred they must have the registration paperwork in 120 days or you are entitled to 75% of purchase or can return the dog for 100% refund. When I called again I spoke to the owner (shannon) and explained this to her she said let me check and hung up, and did not call back. So for someone who is an owner of a pet store should be familiar with the California law governing the sale of dogs especially since this is included in the contract. She ignored my calls for days until I told her employee if she doesn't call me back I'm going to sue her and she will have fines to pay to the state for breaking the law. She then says that this works out for me because I can get all my money back by returning my dog, I told her I'm not returning a dog that has been part of my family for over four months. I thought I was getting a purebred dog I had all the paperwork supposedly showing the origin of the dog but no registration paperwork. I called again to see when I can get my refund (since shannon was not returning my calls) finally the owner (shannon) returned my call to tell me that I'm not her main concern right now. I finally got my refund after countless amount of calls and getting the run around from the most unprofessional people I have ever meet in my life. So purebred dog no registration papers and I will never be able to register her as a purebred dog. Even with a 75% refund I could have gotten a cheaper Yorkie with no paperwork and no hassle. The owner and the workers are extremely rude and misrepresented this dog as pure breed just to make a sale when there was never any registration papers. So I am lead to believe that my certificate of pedigree, origin of dog and other documentation that was given to me was falsified because if this information was correct then they would have no problem finding her registration papers. They completely lied about this puppy being purebred and broke the contract. Do not buy from this store and defiantly check with the bbb before making purchases.

Pet's Delight needs to stop selling Puppies

by Anonymous

After purchasing a puppy from Pet's Delight and noticing is was sick the following day (not just scared), and after doing a little homework on Pet's Delight (from Covina, Glendora and South Pasadena), I should have known better then to purchase a puppy from Pet's Delight.

Did any of you watch Oprah on Friday, April 4th on Puppy Mills? Have any of you who ever have purchased a puppy from Pet's Delight asked them the origin of the puppy? By California State Law this is required on the date of purchase. My guess is that you have to BEG for this information and the information you do receive is bogus.

The puppies aren't able to speak for themselves - someone needs to speak on behalf of these puppies.

New Owners, Healthy Happy Animals, Great Service, Very Clean!

by Barbara D.

After swearing that I would never return to this store, I stopped in after a new ownership sign out front. I could not believe the difference! I was greeted upon entering, the store has a ton of new products, and it didn't smell bad. I saw several different breeds of puppies, beautiful bunnies, reptiles, fish, kittens, and birds. The prices even seemed comparable if not better than the big chain stores. I chatted with one of the employees for at least 30 minutes and she was very informative, she told me that the new store slogan is "a real pet store". I think it suits this store well. Not only will I be bringing my business back, but I will tell my friends.

Awful Store - Beware

by Anonymous

I see the previous reviews were from 2005 and I think the service has gotten worse as well as the store generally, so here's my review:
I think the person that groomed my dog must have been drunk or unqualified to be grooming. His beard was shorter on one side than the other and he looked worse than when I dropped him off. Not to mention now I find out they left his ears all gunky and didn't clean the shavings they did out & now I had to pay over $200 for medicine, cleaning, etc. Also when I asked if they had a dog bed less than $45 they said "We don't have anything cheap here." When I mention I went to this place to anyone they gasp before I even tell my story.

nice little pet store

by Dawn L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,068

This store has everything you need from dogs to geckos. Their feeder inventory is always healthy and they are always well stocked. The staff is friendly and knowledgable! They have a great Koi pond inside the store and they even let you feed them, which the kids love. The dogs and cats they sell are priced on the high side, but they are very healthy and come with their first set of shots which is great.

puppies from puppy mills

by k. b. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,131

I wasn't aware of this and i bought my puppy here. I love him and thank goodness he's healthy now (after having kennel cough, coccidia, and giahrdia straight from the store). He's great and i couldn't be happier with the puppy, but i would never ever consider buying from here again. I would never buy a puppy from a puppy mill, therefore i will never buy from pet's delight in glendora again. The service is okay. There are a couple very friendly girls in there, but there are two imparticular that are usually always preoccupied discussing things such as boys, and nails, and parties it seems. Not impressed. Save that for after work or when the store isn't full of customers.

PROS:
CONS: puppies are from puppy mills and usually sick.

small town pet store

by A. B. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 139

The store is a nice window dressing on a pretty street -- often displaying puppies or kittens in the window. Once inside, the store is fairly small. There is not a whole lot to choose from in the way of animals although you will find some basics. You can also find basic supplies here although at a much higher price than your larger pet store. Service is friendly, but not worth the inflated price.
