Carney's is a family-owned, casual burger and hot dog restaurant, housed in an 1920s Amtrak train car. Regulars and tourists alike pile into the diner-inspired interior featuring original signs and vintage photographs and sit down for a satisfying, yet affordable, meal. The menu includes such items as cheeseburgers, chicken, wraps, sandwiches, salads, chili fries and a few select desserts, such as the chocolate-dipped frozen banana. Hot dogs range from the Carney's Hot Dog (chili, mustard, tomatoes and onion) to the Spicy Polish New Yorker (sauerkraut and mustard). Delivery is available until 4:30pm with an $8 minimum.

Tee-shirted tourists and local die-hards order at the counter and grab napkins from a bathroom towel dispenser at the end of the line. Burgers and hotdogs are served in cardboard boxes, often drenched in chili and accompanied by lemonade in a paper cup.

Hot dogs are still okay but the last few times there the hamburger meat was paper thin and tasteless. Double cheeseburger came with one slice of cheese, I ask for another slice and they charged fifty cents more with a bad attitude to boot. The man that owned/managed(?) from a few years ago is not there. He built up a good business with good food and service. They must have sold the franchise and the new owners have gone on the cheap. There are many hot dog places in L.A. but only a few places do hot dogs right and Carney's is definitely one of the top hot dog places in the southland. Unlike another crowded hot dog stand, Carney's keeps their menu simple. I recommend the standard chili dog or the Chicagoan with relish, onions and mustard.
