Great customer service. I take my bike in here all the time for tune ups and they always do a good job. It could get costly as well as the price of some of the bikes but their helpful staff definitely balances it out.

Got my bike tailor-fitted to my style: road commuting with occasional ventures into the coastal mountains. This is the shop I always go to for advice or just to chat about bikes in general. Great location right by Haight and
Golden Gate Park. Awesome selection!

I just recently bought my second bike from American cyclery (though I bought my first one at the sister store, american too), a specialized roubaix. I bought it under the advice of the sales staff whom I quickly trusted more than two years ago in search of my first bike, and have been continually nurturing and monitoring my growth as a cyclist. Really, finding this shop changed my life - they took my needs and potential seriously, and I have proved to them, and to myself, that I far exceeded what I ever thought I was capable of. I will continue to put my trust in these incredibly friendly individuals, and I will continue to seek advice and service when it's time.

Pros: Top notch service, friendly expert staff

Cons: Parking's tough for cars, can be busy at times.

I've been a customer of american for a little under two years now, and I have found the entire experience to be envigorating and life changing. I really at first was looking for a fun way to get in excercise on the weekends, but it's become a day to day commute addiction paired with a weekly long distance ride. The warranty service I got with both bikes I purchased for myself was phenomenal (as well as with the bikes I purchased for my family), and the larger scale tune ups I've payed for were very fair in price and very thorough and reassuring. I will continue to purchase bikes and have my investments serviced at American Cyclery

American Cyclery stands out in a town full of bicycle shops. If you want it, they have it, and can probably give you more choices than you thought possible.
Highly recommended

They had exactly what I didn't know I wanted. Go to them if you need some help, or just to shoot the breeze.
They also have tons of rare and vintage gear.

This place is really quiete interesting; they specialize in old rare bikes. You can get hard to get, bike collector stuff here. They have got some pretty cool pieces that you really wont find anywhere else. I nice thing is that you can find parts here for your bike that is really old for which parts arent really made anymore. The staff has a lot of experience working with old bikes so they are a lot of help. Also the manager is a really nice person to deal with and can sometimes get you something at no extra cost for shipping!
