Wegman's Nursery

Wegman's is cheaper in the long run
by F M.
Last year I bought 4 cherry trees; two from Wegman's & 2 from a nursery in Atherton (different varieties). Low & behold: the trees from Wegman's were much better quality. The other ones ended up having poor grafts, resulting in dead branches. Over the years, I've found that quality counts. Again, I learned my lesson this summer, chasing big box sales. Wegman's will order 6 packs of perennials, recently paying $3.50@, vs getting a root bound "deal" at 30-50% off on a 1 gallon or 1 quart plant elsewhere. Plan ahead! Packages of bulbs from Costco simply don't have the success rate as those from Wegman's, I've learned my lesson. Wegman's has folks that know when & what to do with problems, they're always helpful in solving them, without selling product. When we first bought our home, many years ago, Mrs. Wegman told me not to buy a certain plant in the fall, due to our location. They will turn away biz if they know it won't work. Very reputable & fun!

Nice Nursery...Not So Nice Prices
by Peter B.
Wegman's has a great assortment of plants and if you are looking for something beyond what you can find at Home Depot or Lowes, then this may be an option for you. But be prepared to pay at least 100% more than what a comparable sized container would cost at these other stores and even 20-25% more than the same item would cost at another quality nursery. It's great to have the quality and the selection and it is fair to expect to pay more for that, but it shouldn't be a license to gouge.

Wegman's has beautiful, healthy plants, a nice selection of products to support their care, and accessible, knowledgable staff . They also have a very good once-yearly sale.

No matter what you're looking for, Wegmans will either have it or get it for you. They will also help you with all of your questions and help you decide what to plant in specific locations. They are extremely helpful with all sorts of problems - bugs, fruit tree problems, roses, etc. They have classes periodically on different topics like rose pruning, fruit tree pruning, fuschia care, etc. They have knowledgeable staff. They are pricey but you are paying for their expertise as well as the product.

Wegmans is more than your average nursery. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and willing to give advice. They have an incredible selection of plants that are not carried in your average nursery. They also have the best selection of roses.

Wegman's is not your oridinary nursery such as Summer Winds. They have many speciman plants, have extremely knowledgable staff and one of the finest succulent and vegetable selections around. If you have a specific need, please make sure to include them in your list of potential nurseries that can assisst you.

Wegman's is a great nursery with very knowledgable and helpful staff memebers! They have a good selection of plants and trees. They only down side is that they only have wagons with narrow pathways so it is hard to shop with babies and young children. Their prices are higher but the quality is great!
