5 Stars: Come for the enormous steak, stay for the Cotton Candy (by VictoriaGael)

Its hard to believe that this restaurant isn't better known. Its in the heart of Beverly Hills, just off La Cienega's Restaurant Row and I have driven by it for probably 10 years, but last night was our first dining experience here. And I assure you that we will be back!!!!! Its low-key, not pretentious or overpriced like Wolfgang's on Canon or stuffy like Ruth Chris' (although I like the filet there too). Not a scene, where you are going to see & be seen. Its a true steakhouse restaurant in every way. The service was very attentive (thank you Chad), the drinks & wine were good, the Onion soup was perfect (not too salty like so many others), and the Porterhouse steak was delicious and presented beautifully, with the filet minon on one side and the new york steak on the other side of the T-bone. Cut to share and enjoy!!!! We had Mushrooms & Spinach as our sides, both were super! Dessert was also delish, we had the Chocolate Molton Cake and an apple tart, both served with Vanilla Ice Cream. But the best part, was when Chad brought out the Cotton Candy lantern tower (for lack of a better word), which was fun, beautiful and yes yummy! Its brought us back to our childhoods, as my husband and I reminisced about our own memories of Cotton Candy. This is a great place for a family gathering, we are planning my father-in-law's 80th birthday here in the private room and also a great place to bring out of town guests. Best of all, everything I described is part of the pre-fixed menu, which was $45 per person. Where else in LA, can you eat & drink like royalty for less than $100 per couple? Enjoy!!!!!

5 Stars: A Terrific Place for a Great Meal at an Incredible Price (by catcity)

I have been following the Citysearch reviews of Porterhouse for a while, piqued by the several discount letters I received in the mail from the restaurant. Although reviews are pretty "mixed" here, I decided to try it for myself last night. It was a fantastic evening! Our group of four ordered the prixe fix meal and everything was spot-on. Agree with the reader that said the onion soup was hot - scalding! But once it cooled down (and it did take a while), it was very tasty. Great bread enhanced by the various dipping sauces: excellent house-made olive tapanade, loved the roasted whole garlic for spreading. Main dishes were one rib-eye, one bone-in NY and one shared 20 oz Porterhouse. Steaks were perfectly cooked and the porterhouse was delicious. I've eaten at most of the high-end steak houses in town and this was comparable. Sides were also tasty: nice touch of nutmeg in the creamed corn, fries were awesome and garlic mashed potatoes not too garlicky (I skipped tasting the steamed brocoli - not a fan). Deserts were the apple tart (very good), creme brulee (okay) and chocolate lava cake (incredible!). At the end of the meal, I mentioned our friends had just gotten engaged and the waiter brought out the cotton candy (with a candle) AND four glasses of champagne. Here's what makes Porterhouse Bistro so very easy to recommend: the check! Four dinners, eight cocktails, salad, great steak, wonderful sides, desert, champagne - under $200. You won't find that at The Palm. We will be returning again soon.

4 Stars: Food was GREAT!!!! (by eatoutalot19)

The food was great. Me and my husband went for his bday. He is a pickie eater. We had the meal for 2. He had the steak and I had the fish. Everything was good from the bread to the dessert. Now service that's another story but it was not that bad but is showed in her tip. I would go there again in a heartbeat....

4 Stars: steak (by Jerome B.)

The steak here is delicious. It is one of the best places on the West Coast for a nice slab of meat. The prices are great, and the wine selection to go with the meat is exceptional.

2 Stars: Steaks were mediocre (by RManowar)

I was expecting great things after reading all of the positive reviews. My wife and I both ordered the ribeye steaks and we were very disappointed. For one thing, at a restaurant of this purported caliber, I shouldn't feel like I HAVE to drench my steak in steak sauce. There was almost no flavor to the steak. I was shocked. It was literally one of the worst steaks I have ever had. Atmosphere was okay, but overshadowed by the poor main course. We did enjoy the onion soup. The waiters were very attentive and amiable.

1 Stars: Awful customer service (by TinaKandelaki)

We had a dinner in this restaurant and I?d like to share my experience. It was my first time in this restaurant and I didn?t choose it myself. So before the dinner I read the menu on the internet as well as the reviews. According to some reviews the food was good but the service so-so. But I still hoped for the best. I am a foreigner, I have been living in LA for 2 years and I don?t go out very often, so I decided to give it a try. I bought a fancy birthday cake for our dinner guest for $40 in Sweet Lady Jane and my husband gave it to the manager when we arrived. The cake disappeared mysteriously during our dinner. I had to ask several times about the cake and our guests were pretty nervous already. Finally the manager came and told me that the cake had been cut into pieces, that it was a mistake! ! He apologized and offered the substitution for the cake, but he said that we would have our own cake as well. I didn?t want to argue with him, because I didn?t want to ruin the nice evening for our guests, so I did my best not to show how upset I was. When we had almost finished our coffee the cake substitution arrived. It couldn?t be compared with Sweet lady Jane of course - a pile of cotton candy with a candle! And 5 minutes later we also got the remains of our own cake - four tiny little pieces. I still wonder - where is the rest? The cake was made for 6-8 people. And a special decoration was made on the cake with the name of the birthday person. So it?s very difficult to believe that the cake was just cut by mistake and served to some other clients as a regular dessert. It?s very strange, sad and even shocking that these things can happen in a decent Beverly Hills restaurant. Some time ago I?d worked as manager in a restaurant in a country that is considered to be developing and less refined (especially in comparison with Beverly Hills), but I can tell you for sure it couldn?t happen in my restaurant.

3 Stars: nice dining experience (by joanovarq)

This is a very nice fancy steakhouse. They also have a good variety of things other than steak - e.g., lamb, fish, chicken, etc. The steak was good, although not exceptional. The same can be said for their other food. I only eat here when I have a coupon; otherwise, it's a bit overpriced. The ambiance, however, is very romantic -- dim lighting, beautiful tablecloths, etc.

4 Stars: I recommend PB to my friends and business associates! (by raddad52)

We have been here several times, and have always been happy with our experience. Service is great, food has always been exactly as ordered, and tasted great! We have dined alone and had small parties of 12 or less. I recommend Porterhouse Bistro to my friends and business associates, and that is as good of a recommendation as I can come up with. I am brutal about restaurants that I am not happy with.

The Prix Fixe menu is a great deal for about $40 if you are on a budget. It includes the main course with a dessert and 2 glasses of wine. We always enjoy this. You cannot go to most chain restaurants for this, and even if you could, you would not get the quality of food, great atmosphere or terrific service.

Seems like this would be a great place for a first date for a great dining experience without breaking the bank.

5 Stars: Best Steak, Best Service (by dawn3)

If you haven't been here you have to check this place out. This restaurant really knows how to take care of the customer. Where else can you go to dinner and have drinks included in your meal??? Anywhere else you can spend as much on drinks as you can here to have drinks plus dinner plus dessert. And not only does the price top out any other steak restaurant in town but so did the service. I like to go to dinner and feel the warmth and friendliness of the server...and here that's exactly how they work. Other places are polite and lingering nearby to clear a plate, but here you have the opportunity to see that these people have personalities! Our server was great and she really was on top of everything before we even had to ask. I would recommend the porterhouse for 2 and the cream corn and grilled onions for side.

5 Stars: What a Deal!! (by cjhaight)

I've been to a lot of steakhouses in LA, and I have to say that this is both the Best Steak and the Best Deal that I have ever had! When you step into the Porterhouse, you are greeted by friendly smiles, and the first thing you notice is the positive, warm, energetic, atmosphere! It is obvious that everyone is happy to be there, even the servers! You can't say that for many places in LA.

The Prix Fixe Menu at the Porterhouse is a real experience; warm bread with roasted garlic and bruscetta, a delicious salad or amazing onion soup, a tremendous steak, a tasty dessert AND two glasses of wine.... for $40!!! I was suspicious at first, but really pleased at the end.

The service was friendly, prompt, efficient, and, again, energetic. They seem to have a great system worked out where they can give you this great deal and still maintain a high level of quality.

5 Stars: Excellent steak, friendly staff (by sma22)

I recently ate dinner at the porterhouse bistro and I absolutely loved it. Upon arriving i was greeted by a very friendly host. Our table was very lovely, with a great view of wilshier blvd. the bread and the spreads were very tasty, and our server was so charming and cute! girls come here for some man candy. We ordered the prix fix menu, it was a ton of food but well worth it. The onion soup was amazing, and the porterhouse steak is to die for! make sure you share it because its a lot of meat. Then to top it off the lava cake was excelelnt, rich and chocolaty and perfectly proportioned. all in all I thought this was a great place, great service, great food good atmosphere. Also excellent drinks, I ordered one of their specialty cocktails called "the smashley" was one of the best drinks I've ever had, refreshing and tasty. I highly recommend this place!

4 Stars: Walk in happy, leave glad you came. (by devon37)

I've got to give this place 4 stars. Not the best steak house in Los Angeles, but it's more value for your buck. Make sure you bring a date to take advantage of their prix fixe menu. With that in mind, you get all the trimings without all the cost. On note though, carefully read all the print below the prix fixe menu. There are some catches that may change your bill total. Nothing alarming, I mean...of course I want Grey Goose instead of house vodka.
Service was sorta slow and rushed. My date and I both said our server looked "in the weeds" at times. She was nice, and paced our dinner timely, but never gave a fine dining performance as one would expect eating somewhere that cost more to dine. Which I accepted and was fine with.
Overall, the food, service, good drinks all come into play. Not the best, but pretty good. As I said...this place offers more more value for your buck for what you walk away with. Walk in happy, leave glad you came.

5 Stars: Best value in Los Angeles - $40 prixe fix including 2 alcoholic bevs. (by losanglesgrl)

I recommend this place if you are in the area and in the mood for something not too expensive and at a great value. Host was cheerful and friendly. Service was not perfect but friendly and somewhat attentive. This is great place to try at least once for the great value for the prixe fixe at $40. You'll have to try the molten chocolate lava cake..so good. Also a nice touch was the cotton candy you get before dessert is served. I was satisfied and would return if in the area. Steaks are of good quality but lacking flavor. Give it a try and you will be pleased with what you pay for.

3 Stars: mediocre "hotel food" (by ilovesweets810)

I read the reviews on Citysearch and was expecting some decent food. I was so dissappointed!!! The food at porterhouse reminded me of room service gone wrong. Not to say it wasn't decent, but for the price, DEFINITELY not worth it. Spend the extra $20 or so to get some quality food elsewhere, please!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to say the appetizer was decent. The salad was not fresh and tasted stale, as if it had been swimming in dressing for a while and sitting out. The steak was much better than anything else at dinner, but still really mediocre. Given I am a huge dessert fan and probably more critical than I should be, I really thought dessert was horrible. The chocolate lava cake I got lacked the "lava" component and overall it was just really dry and tasteless. AVOID unless you are looking for mediocre food!!!!!!!!

We didn't have reservations but we were seated immediately, although it seemed to be pretty packed. We were pleasantly surprised at the value that we got for the prix fixe menu. You get a 4 course meal w/ 2 drinks (soda and generic alcohol only, otherwise extra). Food is decent, service is good, and it's cheap.

2 Stars: A very poor choice. (by jbc123)

Good beef does not have to be so seasoned that any flavor the meat might have is obscured by pepper and god knows what. Nor does it have to be served on a sizzling platter like fajitas at a chain Mexican-themed restaurant. Nor should to be greasy (because it has been buttered?). It should be cooked to order and not, as in my case, served medium when rare has been requested. This restaurant is very much like a lesser hotel restuarant. A very poor choice.

4 Stars: Birthday dinner (by wagnermj)

We made reservations for my girlfriend's birthday. Reservation was late, granted, 8:45 p.m. Upon entering we were greeted promptly and the gentleman was great, very attentive. Once we were seated though we sat for about 10 minutes as we watched the servers walk around us, then finally we received some bread and 4 good spreads. We then sat again, short time until our server came and explained the prix fix menu. The food came shortly afterwards and the quality was very good. The side dishes were good, but the quantity for steak house standards were small. The steak was very good and prepared perfectly. The desserts were very good, the Lava Chocolate cake, recommended by the server was particlularily good. For birthdays, there were others going on they serve a sprial of cotton candy that was very cool. I would describe the experience as sufficient as a whole. I would recommend that eating here would be best from 6-8 p.m. It seemed that the lateness had an affect on the atmoshpere and the overall service. It was good, I would look around before returning.

2 Stars: if this is prime (by connyra)

If this is prime beef than I prefer select beef, it is not a good steak house, no seasoning, you might think it is a good deal for a three course meal but it is not.

5 Stars: A Great Value (by alfalfa323)

Without question the Porterhouse Bistro's Prix Fixe is the best value in Beverly Hills, and probably in Los Angeles. The service, from Maitre 'D to server to bus boy, is exceptionally friendly and efficient. The hosts, in particular, thankfully lack the oppressive attitude of other high end Beverly Hills steakhouses on N. Canon Dr. north of Wilshire on the East side of the street that I will not mention.

The steaks are delicious and well prepared, the sides are small but tasty, and the chocolate lava cake in particular is dynamite.

Figuring that appetizer, salad, entree, sides, dessert, and two drinks puts you at $40 there is no reason (outside of vegetarianism) not to give it a shot.

As a bonus they have a reasonable corkage fee and provide decanters and crystal glassware often without request.

Stopped in so I wouldn'y have to get on the I-10 to Palm Dprings on 1-27-06 at 5:30.
Surprized at the quality of everything - Rib eye was excellent - HOT & JUICY! Great crunchy & hot baguette for the "Do It Yourself" Bruschetta. Surprized at the available choices for the prix fixe - unbelievably broad. My meal was superb, everything was well prepared. After such a large meal, a dessert was difficult so I had the sorbet and it made me happy. Knowing I could have a cocktail, cocktails, coctails & wine, or many other refreshments amazed me. I'll share this fine establishment.

5 Stars: Best steak in LA by far! Melt in your mouth! (by foodcrytic)

We had our holiday party here for 12 people in mid-December. This place was a perfect choice! We were seated immediately upon arrival. Since the $10 corkerage is so reasonable, I brought many bottles of bubbly, white and reds and the staff managed and served them impeccably. We all chose something from the prix-fixe menu. The food was fantastic. The greatest highlight was the steak which for me (a 20-oz. t-bone), seemed to melt in my mouth. It was the best steak I've had in LA...and believe me, I've had many. One of our staff had a steak that was too well done and the waitress took it back witout hesiation and amazingly came back with a perfect med-rare steak within 1 minute. Never saw that at any restaurant before...just incredible! Desserts were great too and we all had a super time.

4 Stars: Great Deal / Decent Steak (by jreisenweber)

Don't get me wrong - it's probably the best deal in town for an appetizer, main course, desert and two drinks, but I realize how they do it. The staff is adequate and the steaks are not fine choice cuts. The ambience is great and it's a great place to take a date, but if I'm going to spend at least $80.00 on two people - I'd rather spend an extra $20.00 and get a mouth wathering piece of meat. They seem like they specialize in desert, which was amazing and so were the appetizers. Drinks were strong too.

5 Stars: Nothing but the best...and an unbeatable price! (by shawna_hen)

Last night was my 3rd time dining at PB and I could not let another day go by without singing this magnificent restaurant's praises. First, my husband and I were 20mins late for our 9:45pm reservations, but no problem, we were promptly seated in a lovely booth. The restaurant's decor is elegant, atmosphere is relaxed. It's the perfect place for a romantic date, business, dinner party, whatever. Our server was very attentive, our drinks were great ( I had the peach martini....DElicious!), and the FOOD was superb! We had the Prix Fixe meal, NY steak for my husband and rack of lamb for myself. We had a 4 course meal with 2 cocktails EACH (thier creme brulee is the best I've had!) all this for under $90! This is the best restaurant in Los Angeles, you will not be disappointed. Got kids, no problem, they offer a kids menu too!

2 Stars: PRETTY GOOD FOOD; AWFUL SERVICE (by angel_valentine)

I've been to this restaurant on a handful of occassions (approx. 6-8 times) and have finally decided that I will not return. I have been sitting on the fence because I have to admit that the food here is pretty good. And the deal on the prix fixe really makes it extra good. But, alas, the consistantly AWFUL service has made me vow never to return.

Every waitress we've ever had at this place has been sassy, abrupt and just don't know how to provide decent service. Once I attended a large birthday party in their private room, and the wait staff were taking away our desserts before we were even done.

My best advice to management would be to retrain their wait staff or hire new people.

5 Stars: Underrated Gem - Great of Large Groups! (by onelilypad)

Definitely the best restaurant in terms of food, value, and service for groups. I searched frantically for a restaurant that accommodates groups (36 people) without requiring a deposit, reasonably priced, and without waiting 2 hours for tables. Its a gold mine! The Prix Fixe Menu was superb and service excellent. I beg to differ from the reviews about service. Although 20 minutes early, we were seated promptly. The owner, Bobbie, made a point in greeting everyone. Our waitress (one for the entire group) was attentive and patient as she explained the menu 15 times. Food arrived promptly, without any errors. Special effort was made to accommodate the late comers - from getting them a menu to the cotton candy lantern. The food is Beverly Hills caliber without the attitude or price. Mastro's and Lawry's lookout! Highly recommend the Lava Cake and Onion Soup. Would go back in a heartbeat.

The prix fixe menu is wonderful! Their appetizers are delicious, the porterhouse is cooked just the way you like it, and their bar is terrific. I also enjoyed the creme brulee desert greatly. Frankly, the price is wonderful for a dinner including an appetizer, the main course, 3 drinks, and a dessert! The atmosphere is very nice, as well. It feels upscale, yet isn't snooty in the least bit. A great place for a special occassion or a date.

5 Stars: great deal for a high end food (by flychrista)

porterhouse bistro offers exceptional food at a low price. But the service isn't something you would look forward to, since it's very casual. I took my family there for the father's day diinner, and since it was our first time, we were not able to sit in a table we preferred. The good ones were reserved for the regulars who could request specific tables at their conveniences. There was water leaking from the ceiling in one part of the restaurant, which I thought interesting. THe whole place is lively and loud and everyone very busy but not negligent. But the food is excellent. Three course meal at only $40/person on weekends, and very tasty meal at that. I've been to my share of luxurious eateries in LA, but POrterhouse was something altogether impressive and pleasantly surprising.

I live in the neighborhood and have passed this place several times. How glad I am that we finally stopped in. Everything was perfect! The service, the appetizers, The 20-ounce T-bone (I didn't need the knife) the swordfish (firm and delicious) the creamed corn (to die for) the onion soup (best anywhere, ever). Even the cotton candy candle delight that they brought when they found out it was my birthday. David the manager was very charming and seemed genuinely interested in our comments. I highly recommend this fine establishment to anyone tired of the too pricey, too full of themselves places that give half the quality for twice the price.
2 Stars: Nice Allure, Poor Result (by runner0382)

Ate here with my girlfriend a few weeks ago expecting to have a similar experience to the other reviews. From the onset, there were obvious places where the restaurant cuts corners to save money. The "bruschetta" and tapenade accompanying the bread were lackluster - no fresh basil in the former, only black olives (not kalamatas) in the latter. A few extra thoughts here would have started the evening on a better note. We both had salads to start - good. The Porterhouse we shared was what ruined the evening - thi steak was not a good cut and was not even close to cooked to order (med rare). The desserts were nicely done, and the lava cake is to die for! Service throughout the evening was attentive but not constant, and the atmosphere is nice, as well. Food for thought - give more thought to the food.

From the friendly lilt the took my reservation and greeted me by my first name to the sweet waitress (Silvie) to the great Prix Fixe menu - 4 courses for $37.50?! My fella and I shared the Porterhouse - 26oz. and the filet part was perfection! The French onion soup - wow. Even the french fries were some of the best I've ever had.

Great food. Pre-fixed menu was a better deal before they raised their prices, but still worth it. Terrible service. I have gone multiple times just for the food despite the service. One time they threw away my left overs despite the fact that I asked for a doggie bag. They did not offer anything to make up for it. The second time I was told that I could stay for dinner, but could not order from the pre-fixed menu because there was a private party. The third time the service was just poor.

5 Stars: A PERFECT EXPERIENCE (by ricdlegal)

BEEN HERE SEVERAL TIMES. EACH VISIT WAS VERY PLEASANT. FOOD WAS COMPARABLY PRICED. PORTIONS WERE FILLING AND SATISFYING. EVEN THEIR APPETIZERS WERE SCRUMPTIOUS. THIS IS A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN TAKE SOMEONE AND BE CONFIDENT THAT YOU WILL LEAVE A LASTING POSITIVE IMPRESSION. I LOOK FORWARD TO MY NEXT VISIT.

4 Stars: Great value, great restaurant! (by chrisnrich)

While value is important, a restaurant must also deliver quality product. In almost every case, Porterhouse hits the mark. We ordered the prix fixe porterhouse dinner for two, and greatly enjoyed our tapenades, salads, steak, fries, and desserts (including the cotton candy!). The house red wines were surprisingly good, and all the portions were very reasonable.

Our only disappointment was with the average mashed potatoes and the inconsistent service (which was rushed at certain times and other times glacial). However, the service was always very friendly, so this isn't much to complain about. If you are looking for a decent non-chain steak dinner in pleasant environment, we recommend this restaurant.

5 Stars: Believe the hype! Great food & service. (by beenit)

I found the listing for the restaurant on Citysearch and decided to try it out on a recent trip to L.A. The reviews couldn't be more right one. This place not only has excellent food, stellar service, but it is also an incredible value and fun. The prix fixe dinner really is the best deal, giving you everything your little heart could desire. My favorite part of the night? The cotton candy cake brought out just before dessert. It was so much fun! I will definitely go back the next time I'm visiting L.A. A+++

5 Stars: Delicious High Quality Food!!! (by tofutratra)

i can't believe i didn't get a chance to try Porterhouse earlier than last night. i went for my first time to celebrate my bf's & my sis's bday's. everyone loved it... the food, the setting, the service, just about everything there. on top of the delicious food, we had so much fun playing with the cotton candy cake, but of course, we did ate it after all. although the other reviews say the fries are good, i personally recommend their sauteed mushrooms more.

5 Stars: Pleasant surprise for the price! (by angeleyes210745)

We stopped in for an impromptu dinner on a weeknight because I had a craving for steak. I had driven by this restaurant many times and always wondered about it but never got around to trying it until now. The prix fixe dinner is really the best inexpensive dinner in town. The steak was juicy, the portions plentiful, and the service was friendly. Can't beat it for the price (in fact, I'm still amazed by it!). I'll definitely be back.

5 Stars: Best prix fixe value in town - $34.50 (by thklam)

My girlfriends threw me a surprise birthday party 2 weeks ago. There were 12 of us. We all had a great time there. Love their Porterhouse streak, their house sauce is great. Dessert is awesome. We also had a really cool and attentive waiter. The prix fixe menu also include two drinks! What a deal! The only down side is hard to find street parking in Beverly Hills, although valet is only $3.50.

5 Stars: our new favorite restaurant (by angeline716)

let me put it this way - the lady at the table next to us called her waitress and asked incredulously, "are you sure this was only $64?"

where in l.a. can you get an appetizer, salad (not just the romaine or iceburg), gorgeous & delicious meat with two sides (the french fries are great!), two drinks (full bar! alcoholic or soft drink), a yummy dessert, plus a huge beehive of complimentary cotton candy (a successful nostalgic touch) for $29.95? and it's all in an expensive-looking dining establishment?

the best date place - first class experience at a ridiculously low price. no wonder the staff is so friendly - i'm pretty sure the diners overtip to compensate.

(no, i do not work for this restaurant or know anybody that does! we genuinely love this place.)

AMATEUR wait staff - didn't know menu/didn't care, avoided eye contact so wouldn't have to refill water - had to ask for eating utensils TWICE!! - hard to get waitress to stick around for the whole order - then was grossly overcharged!
5 Stars: Great Steak at a Great Price (by crujones26)

The Porterhouse Bistro serves the most incredible steak I have ever had and the fixed price menu is one of the best deals in LA. For only $30, you get two drinks, appetizer, steak, one side, and dessert. My wife and I opted to share the 30oz Porterhouse and it did not disappoint. The house steak sauce complements the meat perfectly and as for the sides--the french fries and the sauteed mushrooms are a must. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Lava Cake, which oozes warm chocolate as you cut into it. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience and rivals such fine steakhouses as the Palm and Arnie Morton's.

I love Porterhouse Bistro! The wait staff is very professional and knowledgeable. We were served immediately after we were seated-our server took our drink order answered questions about the menu and recommended a bottle of wine. Porterhouse Bistro is a nice romantic restaurant. I hgighly recommend it for intimate dinners as well as dinners with friends and family! The steaks are great too!

Great restaurant if you are in the mood for good atmosphere an a serious meal, specifically STEAK. I felt like John Candy in Uncle Buck with the size of the steak I was served. The flavor was really good and juicy. The $29.95 deal is the way to go, especially if you're on a date. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to going back soon. Oh, and the service was really good also. Nice server, knowledgable and with no attitude. Refreshing for LA.

5 Stars: you can be late samw wait (by superbjock2002)

Finally seated at 7:30 for a 7 reservation, however they do not rush you at all once seated, the $9 salad is not even good fertilizer, the $7 french fries are superb and a must. Almost a meal in itself. Steak is superb. Service is ok the girls are very busy and dont do water service enough. When you are seated say it is your birthday which qualifies you for the COTTON CANDY desert which is ,free, and fun. The atmosphere elegant casual but noisy. steak could feed two if you are not steak freaks. Ask for Rhonda as a waiteress, she will not become a Siamese twin to you table, but who needs the type that ask how you like the Broccili seven times. By the way, the water is great and compliments the meal so dont load up on cokes or ice tea. The bread is also outstanding.

5 Stars: Cotton-candy...awesome. (by Kazam)

This newly opened restaurant is pretty good. There are a handful of options on the menu...with one main course...Porterhouse steak of course! The night we went, they actually had a special - some sort of fish - and it looked quite good. The sides are awesome but the best part is desert. Complements of the house is a huge pile of cotton candy (flavors vary), but this shouldn't keep you from trying the brownie they have. It's truly amazing. Good eats!

5 Stars: Just one steak but it was a great choice (by kp)

The rib-eye steak has long been my favorite cut of meat for it's great flavor and texture but if everyone served steak the way Porterhouse Bistro does I would quickly change my mind. Cooking quality beef is an art form as many a poor tasting steak that started with a "prime grade" label will attest. PB has mastered this art with their extreme focus on a single cut. Cooking on a grill at over 800 degrees and serving it up on a very hot metal plate make a big difference to what ends up in your mouth. The olive oil, garlic and herb drizzle ensures even those who order "well done" won't be eating beef jerkey. I will be back to the Porterhouse Bistro the next time I am in the mood for a great piece of meat.
