5 Stars: Great time-out in L.A.'s nightlife. (by Charlene C.)

Located on 3rd Street Promenade, a major outdoor shopping mall stretching for a good few blocks, this Barnes is situated near a Borders but offers more in terms of inside appearance and selection. Bookshelves do not seem as cramped, even though noise levels are slightly louder than those at other Barnes locations due to the vivid nightlife atmosphere of 3rd Street. Highly recommended for a moment of respite from all the shopping on 3rd Street, especially if you seek a quiet place that does not feel all that claustrophobic.

5 Stars: Great children's book section (by Stan G.)

This Barnes and Noble has a fantastic children's book section. My kids can sit there for an hour and explore new books. They also have a great selection of mark-down books, so you can save a lot of money. The staff is very accommodating and will take the time to walk you to a section to find the exact book you are looking for.

5 Stars: best barnes and noble around (by Anthony A.)

The Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Santa Monica (look in the 3rd Street Promenade) is by far the most attractive book store I've been to. It just screams classy. If you're in the mood to browse and look for books in a place that makes you feel as if you were in a movie looking for books, try this place out. The service is decent. The best part is getting lost and finding your way out from inbetween the bookshelves. The magazine section is not as big as others. But everything else is comparable.

4 Stars: (by eteresa l.)

Once again this is rated extremely high because of it's really cool location on the Santa Monica Promenade. I really like book stores but this one is fun because it has a little cafe inside and you can even sit outside after you've purchased a book. It's big and organized and relaxing all at the same time. I like their selection of books, magazines and gifts. Very nice place to stop by.

Great store with a perfect location. I've come here several times when visiting my daughter. She likes to walk around the Promenade while I stay in this store for at least an hour. Though this particular store is slightly smaller than the usual B & N, I still enjoy the books and the relaxing atmosphere. I always leave with something and I'll keep coming back.

5 Stars: (by Ericka P.)

I rate this particular Barnes & Noble so high because of the great location. It is just as good as any other B & N, but with a better setting. Like all the others, you can almost always find what you're looking for and this store also has a great travel section. These stores are always fun to stop in for a browse thru a book or two.
