Our dream was to open a special restaurant that felt like home. A place for our guests to relax, leave the pressure of the day at the door and enjoy some great food, good company and warm surroundings. Our specialty is California Comfort food and includes such popular items as our After School Special, (this one is the Original!)which is Cheddar and Swiss Cheeses grilled to melting on our tangy sliced Sourdough served with a cup of our Creamy Tomato Soup and for dessert our famous Big Ass Ice Cream Sandwich is guaranteed to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. The weekend finds Grub filled to the brim with capacity crowds enjoying such items as our Friggin' Amazing French Toast, Mamacita's Breakfast Burrito and our specially brewed coffee that promises to provide a jolt to cure whatever ails 'ya. We look forward to having you join us! The Grub Gals~Betty & Denise

Great brunch spot  4 Star Rating - Very good

Kind of a hidden (but not very well) gem tucked away in Hollywood. Great french toast, friendly service, and amazing desserts. The wait can be a little long on weekends, particularly when it's nice out. But if you get there early (10-ish or so), it's not that bad.

Grub...yum  5 Star Rating - World class

This place is great for lunch and brunch. The prices are fair but the hours are tricky. I had a difficult time finding it one Saturday and when I got there they had closed for the rest of the day...I was craving their bacon.

Great breakfast  4 Star Rating - Very good

Grub is a little bit hard to find, it's not on a major street, which is great because it doesn't have the huge crowds on the weekends that other popular breakfast places in LA have. The restaurant is very cozy. It's a converted cottage, so you almost feel like you're dining in someone's house. Breakfast/brunch is great, and the menu has some creative options. Lots of celebs seem to eat here.

You can get fat in here...  5 Star Rating - World class

Where do I start? They have a continental theme going here. I have been in love with the Mt. Olympus lately, hummus, feta and pita triangles. YUM!

They've got Carribbean, spanish, American, etc. If you can't find something here, you're crazy. I always leave with a smile on my face, rubbing my belly.

PROS: Good, good, good

A "Top Chef" in our Heart! 5 Star Rating - World class

When we found out that Betty - a contestant on Top Chef - had a place right here in town. We made plans to go and experience it. Little did we know so did allot of other people! But, no matter. We waited patiently in the outside area and spoke with many of the other guests. Betty would come out and say her hellos and chat with anyone who had a question or just wanted to say hi. Pet friendly - the little and a few big dogs were here and there outside. After we were seated, the service and food was wonderful. Timing was just right - even though the kitchen and staff felt they took a bit too long. After we told them we didn't mind and were enjoying the whole visit - we got fresh homemade "Thank You" cookies sent to our table after our meal. Prices are good. Atmosphere is just right and the place is not too big to feel lost or forgotten. We will definitely be back!

Pros: Small comfortable place in a great location.
Cons: I wish we could have eaten more!

great spinach scramble 4 Star Rating - Very good

This was my first time at Grub. The food was very good, service was spotty but our nice waitress was overwhelmed since she was the only one working the outside tables on Father's Day! Our order was misplaced, and we waited way too long for it, (over 45 minutes for eggs that take 5 minutes to cook!!) but once it came, the food won me over. I had the spinach mushroom gruyere scramble and it was heaven. the home fried potatoes were perfectly seasoned, but my toasted english muffin was cold when served with the rest of my hot meal. They should have had extra wait staff on Sunday/Father's Day. They should have these kinks worked out by now; where was the owner/chef/top chef contestant? Resting on her laurels? the staff was so nice but clearly over worked-- and therefore the service greatly suffered. This could be my favorite place for brunch if they stepped up the service.

Pros: Food
Cons: Service, dirty bathroom

Great and original brunch menu 4 Star Rating - Very good

I really liked this place. They had traditional breakfast items, but with an original twist. The homeade ginger ale was great too!

Pros: Homeade ginger ale
Cons: Parking, no adjacent lot but not too bad of a walk

Frankly it's somewhat overrated 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

As "cute" as this restaurant is, I think it's a bit overrated. Maybe people like it because it's basically a little house-turned-restaurant. Big deal. I ordered the french toast croissants and they gave me three soggy halves for 10 bucks they could at least add the fourth half. Every time someone walked by, my table shook as well. The taste of the food was good and the coffee excellent, but nothing extra-ordinary.

Pros: food tastes good
Cons: small and average

Really Unimpressive 2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

After reading Citysearch's plentiful, positive reviews on "Grub," my wife and I stopped by this neighborhood restaurant. It was awful.

The server was unable to answer any questions about the dishes on the menu. My wife ordered a seemingly simple breakfast of eggs-over-easy and strawberries. The whites of the eggs were uncooked/snotty and half of her strawberries were badly bruised.

My salad was very close to something that I could have picked up at Pavilion's in the deli aisle (for half the price, mind you). Either we didn't pick the right dishes or this place is highly and ridiculously overrated.

Pros: Quaint atmosphere
Cons: Expensive, poorly-cooked dishes
