Our dream was to open a special restaurant that felt like home. A place for our guests to relax, leave the pressure of the day at the door and enjoy some great food, good company and warm surroundings. Our specialty is California Comfort food and includes such popular items as our After School Special, (this one is the Original!)which is Cheddar and Swiss Cheeses grilled to melting on our tangy sliced Sourdough served with a cup of our Creamy Tomato Soup and for dessert our famous Big Ass Ice Cream Sandwich is guaranteed to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. The weekend finds Grub filled to the brim with capacity crowds enjoying such items as our Friggin' Amazing French Toast, Mamacita's Breakfast Burrito and our specially brewed coffee that promises to provide a jolt to cure whatever ails 'ya.
We look forward to having you join us!
The Grub Gals~Betty & Denise
The Scene Green and yellow accents and tables topped with dried lavender brighten this already-cheery converted bungalow. Located in the heart of Tinseltown's post-production houses, it's usually filled with behind-the-scenes industry types, who escape reality with a glass of homemade ginger ale. Chatty servers treat all patrons like family.
The Food The menu consists of straight-up comfort fare with just a hint of Hollywood pizzazz. Start by dipping warm, soft pita triangles into the aptly named Mount Olympus, a pile of garlicky hummus, wild mushroom couscous, crumbled feta and sharp sun-dried tomatoes. Garden-fresh salads are hearty meals, topped with tangy, marinated shiitake mushrooms and breadcrumb-encrusted goat cheese or sweet, honeyed chicken breast and Dijon vinaigrette. A grilled cheese sandwich, oozing with melted Swiss and cheddar, is served with a cup of creamy tomato soup that's too sweet and chunky to be the perfect childhood rendition, but still a good foil for the buttery sandwich.
Kind of a hidden (but not very well) gem tucked away in Hollywood. Great french toast, friendly service, and amazing desserts. The wait can be a little long on weekends, particularly when it's nice out. But if you get there early (10-ish or so), it's not that bad.

This place is great for lunch and brunch. The prices are fair but the hours are tricky. I had a difficult time finding it one Saturday and when I got there they had closed for the rest of the day...I was craving their bacon.

Grub is a little bit hard to find, it's not on a major street, which is great because it doesn't have the huge crowds on the weekends that other popular breakfast places in LA have. The restaurant is very cozy. It's a converted cottage, so you almost feel like you're dining in someone's house. Breakfast/brunch is great, and the menu has some creative options. Lots of celebs seem to eat here.

Where do I start? They have a continental theme going here. I have been in love with the Mt. Olympus lately, hummus, feta and pita triangles. YUM!
They've got Carribbean, spanish, American, etc. If you can't find something here, you're crazy. I always leave with a smile on my face, rubbing my belly.
PROS: Good, good, good

Wonderful from start to finish!

We just had Sunday Brunch at Grub and were pleased with, well everything! We had to wait maybe 5 minutes for a table (on a Sunday at 1pm.) The host was so friendly, as was our server. The food came out surprisingly quick and it was delicious! We can't wait to go back for dinner and experience the adorable patio at night!
Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Service Cons: None

Stinks, overrated
By chefnazizillabitchwhore
snobs, crowded, mediocre food, attitude, we would've done better a few blocks away in a local Armenian or Thai restaurant... I live in Hollywood and have for years... getting really tired of "trendy" "down-to-earth" places that "transcend" Hollywood... what a bunch of nurl... Hollywood, like most of L.A., is what you make of it, anyone who has ever lived in a big city knows that... sticks to the good, local mainstays... I keep learning that lesson over and over...
Pros: none Cons: virtually everything

Holy Moses does this place make me happy!

I live in Silverlake and love going to visit Grub. I've been going there for about three years and I always leave so happy and satisfied. Now I just went last night for dinner!!!!! I'm so glad they have finally opened in the evening. I sat outside with three friends and we had Lemon Basil Champagne and then shared a bottle of a great Pinot (it was like 30.00!!! Nice!) They now have four different mac and cheeses to choose from and this delish new Potato Chip Chicken with Spicy Creamed Corn and mashed potatoes. We finished with their new melted Chocolate Sandwich...it's just awesome. Great food, great atmosphere and so friendly...this is a happy place!
Pros: Charming, Delicious, Great Prices, Parking Cons: absolutely nothin' is bad about this place

Sub-par service, slightly above average food, pricey cofee, dicey neighborhood.

Went for breakfast on Sunday morning. Waited about 10 minutes for a waiter after being seated, and the restuarant had approximately 40% empty tables (i.e. not overly busy). No one asked if we wanted coffee, whch should be an immediate question for a weekend breakfast waiter. After finally ordering, the waiter had to come back (about 5 minutes later) to verify the food order, because he did not write the order down the first time. After ordering, food came relatively quickly (a plus) and was hot (also a plus). Overall: food-3 stars out of 5; service-2 stars out of 5. The wait staff needs a few lessons in customer service. I will not return.
Pros: Off the main drag Cons: Poor service
