I don't know what schools those other two reviews are talking about but it's definitely not the Adult School. Sounds like their problem is with the K-12 part of the district. When I was out of work, Monrovia Adult School took great care of me. They worked with my unemployment counselors and got me computer training. Now I'm working again. Kati in their One Stop was particularly helpful.

This school district wanted to send my son to a school that was several miles from home. I asked to have him transferred to a closer school based on the fact that I'm disabled and have a hard time driving more then a couple blocks. They didn't care. They offered to have him bussed but do you really want you young 5 year old child bussed without any adult supervision and with children that are serveral years older. In the end we had to move to a different location to send our son to school. And since we had to move we decided to move out of Monrovia and into another city with better schools then Monrovia. But this just goes to show you how they are unwilling to work with a handicapped parent. I would not suggest you send your child to any of Monrovia's schools if you have any type of handicap or impairment. I would hate to see how they would treat a handicapped child.

The Monrovia Unified School district is ran satisfactorily. They take care of the bills and make sure things don't fall apart. Um, they all dress nicely at the district offices.

Okay, I'm starting to grasp at straws. I just wish I could say more about the school district where I went to school. But I can't. They perform adequately but they can be a bureacratic mess. They have too many district employees including a few retirees who were given "advisory" positions and a hefty paycheck.

It just seems they are more interested in themselves than in the children they are supposed to care for.

PROS: No major school problems
CONS: A bureacratic nightmare

This ceramics class is offered through the Adult Education program in the city of Monrovia. You can't beat the price of $75 for a 18 week semester and that includes glazes. Clay is only $5 for a 25 lb. bag. There is a wide range of students from veteran throwers to beginners that start off with hand building. There are daytime and evening classes. http://www.monroviaschools.net/adulted/adulted.html
