The customer service is just awful. When I purchase my cruise, I was told it was the Early Saver. The cruise price dropped by almost $200. I called and spoke with carnival, and after holding for nearly an hour, was told that I ought to submit a request online since I was protected. Today I received a notification saying that I won't get anything and I'm out of luck.

The Early Save program has a lot of fine print, so much that even their own customer service doesn't fully understand it. Run.

I recently traveled with my organization to Ensenada from Long Beach. Carnival is a party ship which is okay if that is what you are into. For the most part the service was great. Our waiter really hustled and we never had to wait long for our food. My only complaints were that my roommate needed a heating pad or hot water bottle for some pain she was suffering and the infirmary had neither. Also, we were told by more than one person that they would have room service the last morning so we placed a room service order on our door that WAS picked up. However, our breakfast was never delivered the next morning. We had requested it be delivered between 6 and 7 as we were planning to disembark with the first group. At 7:10 when we didn't have our breakfast I called and asked where it was. The room service said they had no order for us and I said we placed one on our door that was picked up. She said she would have to call me back. Right after that they called our deck for early disembarking. We decided to leave as we did not want to wait.

Destinations of Catalina and Ensenda were great. The Carnival ship experience was awful. Eventhough, it was cheap, it was still to much to pay for the way the cruise personnel treat their guests. They are looking for every possible way to rip off the guests: over inflated excursion prices, automatic extreme tips that you have no say over, inflated prices on everything on the ship. They even add extra charges without informing guests.

I was a victim of theft from the staff of Carnival Cruise lines. Management wouldn't lift a finger to help me. The staff on the ship cannot be trusted. If you dare to cruise with Carnival, don't let your ship card out of your site! They run extra charges that you don't know about until you get the statement.

Money hungry operation with dishonest and illegal activities. Beware!

Pros: cheap, local getaway

Cons: poor customer service, dishonest staff.

As a first-time cruise goer, I was amazed by everything. The size of the cruise line, the inside, the restaurants, and everything they had inside the ship. The only thing I thought could be fancier were the rooms. However, I did enjoy the origami towel animals they left on our beds everyday. I also found it adorable how they took my sunglasses and put them on the towel animals. The activities they had onboard was fun (the ice sculpture was interesting). The only thing I found irritating was some of the staff were very unfriendly. They seem to think the vacationers are all inferior because we are tourists.

We took the 3 day cruise out of Long Beach as a weekend escape from our hectic L.A. lives. Everything about the ship was nice and the service was excellent. The shorter cruises are of less value (the 7-day crusise comes out to less per day). The only downside is the one port of call was Ensenada, Mexico, which my wife and I renamed "Glendale-on-the-Water".
