Spiteri's Auto Service was very disappointing
by tom s.
I went to Spiteris because the add said they were number 1. It seemed great up front. I spoke to someone on the phone and he assured me they had 2 mechanics very familiar with my car. I already had the oil pressure measured and left the results on the seat for their mechanics. I already had someone listen with a stethascope and isolate the problem to 1 of 2 places, bearings or timing chain. I told him what had been done and asked him if they could drop the oil pan and confirm it was not the bearings. He said no problem: He said 2 hours labor but I'd have to wait until Wednesday. Mechanic called me Mon and said he could take care of it that day, he'd call me at 11am. He asked a lot of questions and I told him about the knocking and oil pressure light and he thanked me for leaving the oil pressure results on the seat. He never indicated that he had any clue of what to look for. Strange for someone who purportedly knew the car well. He never called back so I called him and the first 2 times they had no information for me. NONE. The 3rd time he finally told me it was ready to pick up at the end of the day. He told me he measured the oil pressure and listened with a stethascope and it was 2.1 hours work. I had the oil pressure measured at Nielsons on El Camino (North of Brittain). They also replaced the oil sensor and did a bypass modification at the same time. Charge Parts and labor was $110. They did the stethascope for $50. They said they couldn't isolate it to the timing chain or the bearing with 100% certainty. They weren't an engine shop so they wouldn't open it up. Spiteri's gave me a break by only charging 2 hours for $200 for work that was already done by another shop for a better price. It taught me a lesson. Never go to Spiteri's unless you have money to throw around.

Would not recommend
by kasey h.
I found them to be very overpriced. I would not recommend them. Too much sales for my taste. The question I was left with after I went to them is did I really need all that work... I never spent that much getting my car serviced.

I found Spiteri to overprice everything and while they do try to be courteous and provide classy service, I found that they did not treat me with respect as they held my car for 2 weeks after telling me it would take a few days to get the job done. I believe they are shady and dishonest, but they did seem to take care of my car well. I think they charged us for things we did not need as they had made recommendations on items that I had just gotten fixed.

Spiteri's offers great automotive care
by MaryMB
I've been a customer of Spiteri's Auto Service since 1980. They have taken care of at least six of our family's automobiles through the years. The owners and staff are wonderful to work with. They run a very clean shop, they are always cheerful, helpful and especially thorough when they explain what repairs need to be made and what options are available. I trust these folks and have never been disappointed in any of their work in what is now nearing a 30 year relationship! They are attentive to details, offer shuttle service to and from work/home while the car is being checked out. They research past car checkups, research potential "recall notices" for parts and all-in-all are great to work with!
Pros: Expertise, clear communications about car maintenance and repair, friendly

Customer oriented

Extremely thorough inspection of long-neglected car. Found lots of issues large and small, explained everything clearly, prioritized repairs, offered a rental. Everyone extremely courteous, work well-done. Turned my repair records over to them and will be bringing my car back when it is due for its next service. I've found my new shop.
Pros: Good customer service
Cons: None

Quality work and service
by JohndG
Spiteri's has been great to do deal with. The owners are always around - ensuring the job gets done right and customers are treated well. They will always check over your vehicle and see if they spot any issues - but will always call with an estimate and explanation before they do any extra work. For example, last week I went in for a service and a mirror repair- but left with that, and two new front tires (which were bald and I just hadn't gotten around to replacing, and I didn't even think that they could take care if it that day), and an air filter. They aren't going to be your cheapest option - but employee quality staff, use high quality parts - and always stand behind their work. They always seem to be busy for a reason.
Pros: Quality work, great service, clean, owners around
Cons: not the cheapest in town
