Bali Ha'I Restaurant is Awesome.
by Elizabeth V.
This place has stunning views and is a classic tiki bar experience. Food is actually why it gets 4 stars as it's pretty good but not super fantastic. Go for the drinks and the views, as those are outstanding. I love introducing people to this place.

Great view

The famous Mai Thai and immaculate view makes this a great place to bring a date or out of towner's. I recommend calling beforehand to snag a window seat for a view of the harbor.

The Bali Hai takes me back to some era past, where the drinks were big and Elvis was singing about Hawaii. I like to come here with friends, sit at the bar sipping mai tais and snacking on the big appetizer plate. Friendly bartenders and always an intersting crowd.

Go for the sunset - stay for the food. Incredibly rich dishes are served in a beautiful room that overlooks downtown San Diego! One word to the wise - have a designated driver if you're going to try the world famous Mai Tai - that rum is a kicker!

One of the organizations I was involved with had an event at the Bali Hai Restaurant and it was gorgeous there; with the usual sunny San Diego weather, I found that the meal was even more enjoyable. We had a buffet-style meal and they provided us with heaping portions/throngs of food set out-- coconut shrimp, rice, fresh fruit-- strawberries, honeydew, etc. There was more than enough food for the 50+ attendees there and I had a very enjoyable time thanks to the staff and crew.

I am not a big fan of poleynesian food so I did not especially like this place. I went there and got food this one night which was ok but it could be better but after I ate there I felt sick for the rest of the night.

I had two banquets that I attended here and each time, I was not impressed at all. The food was very plain and there was no speciall sauce or unique taste to the meal. The banquet had a buffet that only consisted of about three or four items. The service was alright, but I didn't like the food at all.

I love the view of the Bali Hali Restaurant. It is so pretty, especially at night. I also love the food there too. I really enjoy the salad and baby tomatoes.

This place has really good oriental food and its located in Point Loma. At night you have the best view of the downtown skyline. This is also a great place to have banquets.

Every year my Cross Country team goes here for our Banquet and I couldn't ask that there be a better setting. Bali Hai is located right at the edge of the pier so you get a really good view of downtown. We've always eaten in a banquet fashion, which I really like, but I don't know how the sit down experience is like. The waiters always refill your drinks and they can assist you like nobody's business. If you had a DJ of somesort, Bali Hai would also make a good dance/ballroom.

I would recommend this restaurant for those that miss Hawaii. The view from restaurant is beautiful and almost reminds one of being in one of the restaurants in Waikiki overlooking the beach. The prices are reasonable and they have senior specials.
PROS:
CONS: parking may be limited during peak hours

For a Valentines Day dinner is when me and my husband went to this restaurant. The first thing you notice is the restaurant itself, its all by itself at the end of the road, and its a big round restaurant. Its has a beautiful park around it with great walkways and a pier right outside. And it has a breathtaking view of the San Diego bay and the San Diego Skyline. At night its even more beautiful. The restaurant on the inside is fantastic, All the walls facing the bay are windows! So no matter where you sit, every seat has a wonderful view! Its a two story building and both stories have great views. The food is delicious, they serve Hawaiian food. Their portions are good and the price reasonable. Definitely a place to visit for a romantic evening.
