This restaurant was amazing!
The food was great and the service was amazing.
The outside of the restaurant may not look like much but the inside looks like a whole different place. It's almost like I just walked into Morocco.
I recommend this for anyone who wants an outstanding dinning experience and especially recommend the 50% off coupon.

Oh! Almost forgot to mention the belly dancers! Never thought I would learn to dance like that but with there help and my friends pushing me to the dance floor I got it down.

My friends and i used a discount coupon at the restaurant that worked very well. The waiter was very cute and explained everything so my friends could know about the menu. The decor is very colorful w/ Morrocan rugs on the walls, a tent overhead, fancy lamps, beautiful lacquered tables The dancer was very good, she looked like she knew what she was doing, and then she read tarot cards and that added to the evening. that is included w/ the dinner---i just gave her a few dollars as a tip for being so sweet. The food was tasty as it was before---i love the lamb w/ honey. I have some friends in a bellydance class---i'll get them to come next week.

I went to Babouch for the first time last Tuesday and had a blast!! It was my friend's birthday, and she chose the place. We both live near San Pedro, and have heard about the restaurant, but never tried it before.

I just loved the decor!! Really unususal. The food was different, but really tasty. And then the belly dancer came. It was the blonde one,the one that is on the front page of their website. She was really engaging, and everybody in the restaurant got up to dance with her. It was a lot of fun!! We also got an amazing tarot card reading. I will be back..

So it was my birthday not too long ago and my father decided to surprise me by bringing me here, Babouch Restaurant, It was such a great experience for me, it was quite surprising to know that a place that this is located in San Pedro. So just to share a bit of my experience at Babouch, first off they had such delicious food, it definitely had a different flavor from most food I've tried and that is what i liked most about it. It was my first time trying Rabbit and as unusual as it may sound it was delicious. The music, decorations, and entertainment(belly dancers) totally made me feel as if i had just stepped into a completely different part of the world. They provided very friendly customer service & even the palm/tarot card reader even made part of the night even more fun! I am so glad i got to spend my birthday at a place so great. From the food, entertainment, drinks and environment, it was overall fantastic! I would highly recommend Babouch to anyone looking for a good time and unforgettable experience!

I have been enjoying this restaurant on Saturday nights for many years. I love that they have both male and female dancers and tarot card readings. It is a fun place to go for that special date night or when have a group get-together.

I'm so happey I found this place. My friends at work took me there for my birthday on a Friday evening after work and I could not beleive such place ixist. It is like being in a different country with low inlaid dinning tables and velvet couchs like a Moroccan palace. the waitress recommended a sampler appetizer plate Mazza. It consisted of hummos and fresh baked bread, Dolma( stuffed grap leaves) Moroccan sausages, Spinach spanakopitas and Spicy beef wraped in filo dough. We spent the evening having more appetizers like shrimp in garlic celantro red sauce and chicken kabobs and mini beef kabobs.Ofcourse Moroccan beer and exotic coaktails like Pomagranit martini were apropriat for the ocasion.During our feasting the show started, Introduction by one of the waiters and nice music became more evident, a couple( a man and a woman) somehow appered in the middle of the dinning room where we were seated and performed some of the most beautiful moves I have ever seen. I was asked by the mail dancer to get up and dance I gess for my birthday, he tought me couple moves and why not. I realy enjoyed being there and look forward to going back with my famely.

If you're looking for a fun, unique, and unforgettable experience, this is the place to go! I'm the organizer for the Foodie Connection Meetup Group on Meetup and I had an event here recently, and everyone in my group had a complete blast. It was the best event I've ever had for my group,

So let me give this restaurant a proper review...

THE PLACE:
From the outside, you just wouldn't be able to tell what an incredible place this is. But as soon as you walk through the doors, it's like you're walking into Morrocco and suddenly you find yourself under a Morroccan tent decorated with rich and lavish carpeted walls, ceilings, and floors of beautiful Morroccan patterns and art. Little details and artifacts around the room like Morroccan bread baskets and Morroccan paintings gives the place a completeness and authenticity that is truly Morroccan, and brings your Morroccan dining experience to full circle. This place just exudes richness, beauty, and comfort. And when you sit down, you can feel it.

THE FOOD:
This restaurant has been around for over 30 years and to this day, the menu has remained the same. They are still preparing and serving the same Morroccan dishes of their original recipes that regulars here have grown to love. I had the rabbit meat with steamed vegetables and cous cous, which is Morroccan for "grits". I enjoyed it. Plus, they've got a full bar with a great selection of wines to pair your dinner with, or a variety of Morrocan & American beers and mixed drinks for you to let loose for the night and even party it down with the belly dancers. And here's the best part of all this. In these tough economic times, Babouch offers an incredible special to help people who have been hurt by the bad economy, but yet just can't resist dining out and indulging in the better pleasures of life... and it's called the "Stimulus Package" and for only $9.25, you get your choice of a main course, steamed vegetables, and cous cous. PLUS, a complimentary 10-minute tarot card reading and belly dancing! In my opinion, that is worth at least $20! This is the only place I know where you can get a bailout for getting yourself stimulized...

THE ENTERTAINMENT:
And now for the best part, the belly dancing! The entertainment here is excellent! With every meal, you get a free 10-minute tarot card or palm reading, and the psychics are very friendly. When the belly dancing is about to begin, lively Morroccan begins to play, and then belly dancers make a pretty majestic entrance. The belly dancers & waiters/waitresses are really great about setting the mood and getting everyone into a lively & festive mood. Throughout the belly dancing, guests will tip the belly dancers and some will get up and dance with them. Sometimes everyone in the room gets up and dances with the belly dancers, and that's when it starts to get really wild and crazy. And in case I haven't mentioned yet, FUN.

OVERALL:
I dig this place, and I think it's an awesome place to have private parties like birthdays, or just to have a girls-night-out type of thing. I'm impressed by the richness of this place, the liveness of the entertainers, and the incredible deal with the "Stimulus Package". I think this restaurant provides an incredible Morroccan dining experience & entertainment extravanga night out whether you're going with a group of friends, or with a date, and the best thing of all...for the price of 2 cups of Starbucks coffee. Overall rating, 5-stars!

Pros: dinner for $9.25, free tarot card reading & belly dancing

.

Moroccan cuisine has always been a mystery to me as I've never been to Morocco and never have tried any dishes. I'm part of a meetup group and they had a Moroccan event with Belly Dancers and Tarot Card Reading. I wonder what my fortune is. So I decided to attend and see what the Moroccan experience is all about.

Once I entered the front entrance, I felt immediately like I was in Morocco. The decor with various colored drapes and Moroccan castle like curves inside the restaurant, waiters dressed in clothes from the culture adds to that feel. It has 3 large rooms. We were able to reserve a large, more private area that seats over 40 people. Our event had over 40 and it was just the right fit.

Their specials are amazing. We took advantage of their Stimulus Package Special which was only $9.25 and includes dinner and show. WHAT A DEAL!!

They also have a nice bar with many signature cocktails and Moroccan beer.

For dinner, I ordered the special sea bass fish they had that night with Couscous. My friend had Rabbit. Both dishes were tasty. I tried the Moroccan beer as well. Nice and light.

Then on to the belly dancing show. I've never seen belly dancers dance before so I was excited. They had both a male and a female dancer. They were very skilled in their craft and did a great job of getting crowd participation. Many of us got up and actually danced with the dancers.

Tarot Card Reading was available as well. That's a nice treat. I'm sure many would love to know what lies ahead.

Overall, it was a very fun and enjoyable experience. I would definitely come back and bring a group of friends or even my family as there were family there to experience a bit of Morocco.

A friend recommended Babouch for my brother's wedding rehersal dinner. We had a group of about 20 naturally we went to see the place first and sampel the food. We were taken by the ambiance and the exotic atmosphir. The manager was friendly and genrous, he planned the whole evenning for us and the food sampling was very delcious. Our evenning started with mezza platters delightful appetizers of Hummos and fresh baked bread, dolma, spicy cigars, Moroccan sausags, and spinach spanakopits. And tasty colerful coktails like Moroccan kiss and peach martinis. the dinner included lentil bean soup, Moroccan salad of marinated eggplant, tomatoes and carrots with baby greens, Bastilla chicken pie with powderd sugar and cinnamon. The main course was a banquet style combination of lamb with potatoes in garlic saffron sause, chicken with hony pruns almonds and sesame seeds and cous cous with mixed vegetables garbanzos and rasins. After dinner we were served refreshing hot mint tea and honey Moroccan pastre just right after a gig meal.During dinner the show started, the dancer's costum had wings like an angel's wings and she was very talanted with her moves. All and all we were very happy how the evening turned out and we will always have good memories of our special evening. We will be back.

I took my family to Babouch to try moroccan food for the first time. We did not know what to expect. But we were pleasantly surprised when we first went in the decor is tent like atmosphir with tapastries on the walls. We ordered the Babouch feast which is a varaiety of dishes: Lamb, chicken, beef kabob, cous cous and more. The food was very tasty and well prepared specially the freshbacked Moroccan bread. In the middle of the dinner the show was announced and what a show, a man and a woman performed Belly dancing to beautifull music and we were asked to participat and we did. It was the most fun we had in a long time. I must add the prices were very reasonable for a six course dinner and a show $26.00 per person is a great deal and with the coupon on there web site is half price. We will diffenitly go back to Babouc for more fun and good food.

This is a wonderful restaurant, and I would definitely be returning. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is astounding, and the food is wonderful. Our group of eight found the belly dancers extremely entertaining, and we were even persuaded to get up and dance with them a few times! There is also a tarot card reading after your meal, which only adds to the phenomenal atmosphere. I will definitely be stopping by again the next time I'm in San Pedro.

A group of us from work went there with our moroccan boss, who happens to love Babouch. We had such an interesting and seemingly authentic meal. It was so much fun eating with only our hands and the food was delicious. Then the belly dancer entertained us until the end of our meal. A few of us even got up to dance with her which was a riot! We had to be somewhere for our conference at nine and unfortunately had to leave earlier than we wanted. We will definately go back again though!

I love Babouch! I usually go here for a birthday or special event because it is such a special restaurant. It is more like an experience that you will talk about for years. When you walk into Babouch you are instantly transformed into Morocco. From the fabric draping from the ceilings, the the decorative walls, to the authentic food, to the seating arrangements and don't forget the belly dancers. That's right, they have live belly dancers that come out during your meal. If you are feeling so inclined, you can get up and dance with them. The food is wonderful, and very authentic. It's a must go place!

What a fabulous experience. This restraunt has it all. Great food, atmoshphere and service. If you like moroccan food this is the place. You can order individual dishes or a fix prix that gives you a sampling of the house specials. Belly dancing and tarot card readings add to the experience. Babouch is definitely a fun place to go and great place to eat.

My spouse and I decided to check this place out - we were looking for a new experience. We both enjoyed it very much! The food is good, the portions are a little on the small side but very tasty. Neither one of us left hungry though, so we can't complain. The prices are reasonable and the entertainment is fun to watch - belly dancers perform periodically and the entire room cheers on those brave enough to get up and dance with them. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed! Glad we had reservations. Overall a good value for the price paid.

My wife and I visited Babouch for our 9th anniversary celebration. We were sat at a low round table. We were immediately given menus and a cocktail list. The restaurant was well decorated and it made you feel like you were in Morocco. The waiter was friendly and made suggestions regarding our order. Prior to the meal being served, the waiter brings over a large bowl and a pitcher and pours warm water over your hands for washing; a nice traditional touch. The food was excellent! Very tasty and we enjoyed it very much. However, the portions are very small. If you are looking for a lot of food and are very hungry, this is not the place for you. But again, the food was excellent. During the meal, the belly dancer performed two dances and then we were all invited to dance with her. I did so, and held my own pretty well if I might add. This is a relaxed atmosphere, so if you are in a hurry and want "chop chop" service, this also is not the place for you. This is a restaurant where you relax and take your time and enjoy the decore, the dancing, the food and the people you are with. Allow approximately two hours; this is not McDonalds or Wendy's. Additiionally, unless forks are requested, you eat with your hands. You are given a small towel to use to wipe your fingers and to use as your napkin. After the meal, they again wash your hands.

In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and loved the food. Very, very tasty. I would not recommend taking small children there, this is for adults. My wife and I will definately go back and will take our friends with us. Be open minded and have fun with this restaurant.

This place is fantastic. This is not a place we would normally have ventured into on our own, but when my spouse and I got a gift certificate we were excited to check it out. We didn't know what to expect. It's rather unimpressive from the outside but then you walk in--WOW. Between the decor, music, and the waiters traditional garb it's quite an ambience that's created. The food was like nothing we'd ever tasted! And a 5 course meal(incl. dessert) for $25 a person is an absolute steal! We left like stuffed pigs. The service was impeccable and the belly dancing just added to the whole experience. If you're looking to try something new and delicious you absolutely have to try Babouch!

Pros: great food , great service, reasonbly priced

Cons: minimal parking

We went to Babouch for Valentines eve. We were seated by a family with 2 little kids, right by the front door. (We had reservations.) The portions are extremely STINGY. We got a 1/2 small bowl of soup, 3 round carrot slices, about 20 garbanzos and 2 tablespoons of marinated eggplant. (This was for 2 people!) We had to flag down the waiters for bread. The main course was also paltry. They charged us for 2 extra cocktails at 9 bucks a piece, refused to remove the charge, and the manager was very rude. He said he served us all the drinks, which was an out and out lie. We got a bill for $206.+ for 2 of us. We will never go back if we live 100 years.

Poorly prepared food, very overpriced. We paid $40 per person and when we asked for seperate checks the management refused and said we'd have to figure it out. Four people were served food more appropriate for 2 people. The management adds on the tip to the bill and refuses to remove it. Rude manager and the promised tarot card reading that was supposed to be included in your meal price was only given to 2 people out of the group and the other 2 were refused. Go somewhere else!

What a disaster! We were in Long Beach for a convention and decided to check out a Morroccan restaurant, Babouch has got to be the worst Middle Eastern/Moroccan restaurant we've ever been to. The food was ridiculously overpriced, a group of 8 adults, we were serve one very small chicken, 3 small skewers of shish kabob, a fatty hunk of lamb the size of my palm and a small dish of cous cous, all for the low price of $27.00 a person. This did not include the $2 lukewarm cokes we were served, and told after the waitress had refilled them several times that we would be charged for each refill. What about the atmosphere, maybe that's what we were paying for??? Not hardly, unless you find waiters in santa hats amusing. Pay a little more and check out Dar Maghreb for a more authentic experience!

This is a complete experience, not just a meal. The lamb is soooo good! All the vegitarian dishes are delightful. It's like being in another time and place. The service is great. And...fun, fun, fun! Wait until the belly dancer arrives!! And don't be surprised when the bill is far less than all this would imply!
