Pros: Excellent food and superb service

We discovered this little place and fell in love with Thai food( I have never liked it before- Jitlada changed my mind!) Chef Pai comes around to each table- when she does ASK what is good that night---WHATEVER she suggests- GET! The mango & shrimp salad is DIVINE- as are the golden baskets( ground chicken and shrimp delicately fried in wafer thin pastry) The scallop and eggplant with coconut sauce entree is also to DIE for! Save room for dessert because the sweet black sticky rice and mango and the fried banana and coconut ice cream are also a must try! They have a lemongrass tea that is def worth a taste as well! Highly recomended!

As a former resident of Thailand and one constantly on the road, I'm always looking for good Thai food. Since moving to the city and trying 10 other SFO Thai establishments, it's safe to say Jitlada is the best by far. Not only is the food great, but the staff too, especially Khun Phai the chef. This is real Thai food!

Every time we are visiting SF we make sure to have a meal at this little lovely restaurant. The food there is realy outstanding. The combinations of flavors are amasing. The presentation of the dishes is very tastfull, the service is attentive and friendly and the ambiance is simple but cozy. We always have great and relaxing time at Jiltada. If I lived in SF I'd go there at least once a week. Very effordable and very delicious.

This is my vote for best Thai restaurant in the city. The head chef Pai is charming and the food quality and presentation is both pleasant and memorable. I always have a good time here with friends.

The appetizers are actually some of my favorites bar none. The ginger spring rolls and stuffed basil eggplant are always on my must have list. These days I am partial to the banana leaf trout dinner. Thumbs up!

Pros: Charming size restaurant. Not too big or crowded. Not too small. Cozy fun!

Cons: Parking is street or Japan town mall.

I definitely will recommend Jitlada to anyone that wants to try unique Thai cuisine. It was one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever tried in the city. One of my favorite appetizer was the ginger shrimp spring rolls and the sleeping bag..yum! It is not those order me Pad Thai type of restaurants...it is a different atmosphere you can dine with your partner, friends or family. Chef Pai is the greatest and puts all her effort in all her dishes she presents out to each table.

I have been here a number of times and the food has been consistently great. The location is a little off the beaten path (actually only a few blocks off of Fillmore) but don't let that deter you.
Not only is the food great but alot of thought has been put into the presentation of the food and the service. Highly recommended.

Jitlada was delicious. My dad and I were house hunting in San Francisco, and since he had never really had Thai before we decided to give the place a try. The appetizers were delicious (soft-shell crab and "wrap me up" lettuce wraps), and my green curry was excellent. My dad had the Jitlada steak, which he was very impressed by. A fried banana with coconut ice cream was a great dessert . . . I'd recommend Jitlada to anyone because of the mixture of traditional Thai dishes and creative modern dishes.

If this is the best Thai in San Francisco...that is very disappointing. The pad thai was probably the worst we've ever had. Tasted like box noodles with ragu pasta sauce. The ginger shrimp egg rolls were tasty, but didn't make up for a below average meal. Would not send anyone I liked to this restaurant.

Jitlada has some of the best Thai food I have ever had. The quality and presentation of the food should put some of the more pricey Thai restaurants to shame. Chef Pai and her staff has created a feeling of an extended Thai family.

Very courteous service. Artistic presentation of every dish. Try soup (Tom Yum Koog), Crying Tiger Salad, Red Curry Duck. Mango sorbet in a rice bowl makes a wonderful desert.

Don't believe average rating below, the customer was obviously disappointed with chef Pai not visiting her table. Chef Pai usually greets people she knows, i.e. return customers who come back again and again.

I went there for the first time a few nights ago after seeing a high rating here on Citysearch. I was at first delighted with the appetizer we ordered (Ground chicken and prawns in sleeping bag), but was very disappointed with the main course dishes. The black sticky rice was great though. I thought the service was good, except for the fact that the Chef came by each table except for ours. Opps! This restaurant was mediocre (5 out of 10) and I was naturally disappointed after seeing such a high rating.

Chef Pai is wonderful- she creates beautiful dishes that are as creative as they are tasty- and she comes out to speak with each table. If she does BEFORE your meal- ask her what she reccommends-then order it! You won't be dissappointed! The service is unbelievable. There aren't many tables - so you always get individual attention. My advice is to try a bunch of the salads, soups and appetizers so you can taste as many things as possible. If you have to get one thing...the MANGO salad....MMmmmmm. I ordered 2 last time I was there(blush) It's also a great value for the price.

I have dined at many fine restaurants in San Francisco, but Jitlada superceded all my expectations. The service was excellent and the food was Finger-Licking-Fantastic!!! This by far has been the BEST THAI food I have ever eaten. Probably the best food I have ever eaten. I cleaned my plate with my fingers. The coconut sauce was sooooooo delicious my eyes rolled backwards with every spoonful. Every spoonful was accompanied by a "Hmmmmmmmmm!" Desert is a must - Fried bananas w/ coconut ice cream and the black sticky rice. Hmmmmmmm!! My compliments to Chef Pai....

Since we discovered Jitlada years ago we have strayed once or twice and always regretted it! You just can't improve on perfection! Chef Pai has created a lovely oasis full of delicious aroma and incredible flavor...and we thank Her so much. We once ended up with 16 guests...I called ahead...we were seated promptly, served beautifully and Pai ended up with 16 repeat customers/fans. My nephew of 3 years was charmed by the Dancing Prawns and managed to finish one! We have tried the entire menu over the years and found everything to be a winner.

Some unusual and very delicious dishes are served by the charming Chef Pai. This is a restaurant of astonishing creativity and attention to detail. It far outshines the competition in town. Recommend the stuffed eggplant appetizer, ginger shrimp spring rolls, pumpkin curry, and red curry, with the mango/sticky rice dessert. All washed down with Thai beer. A perfect experience!

Great food, excellent service, great price!! I found it on City Search and decided to give it a try because of the high rating. Bullseye!. I was pleasingly surprised. Its a quaint, cozy, clean setting. Nice place for a date, or dinner with a friend. I enjoyed a crabcake appetizer that was different and delicious. The presentation of the everything we ordered made our mouths water before we even tasted it. No dissappointments. Enjoyed it!!!

Jitlada is the best kept Thai secret this side of the Pacific. It is at least twice as good as Thep Phenom with no wait. The only weird thing is that this Thai place is in Japantown. If you have one night in SF - you should treat yourself to Jitlada - honestly.

What a delicious place for Thai food. The service was very friendly and efficient. Each dish had clean and simple flavors. Really how could you go wrong with a restaurant that names one of its appetizers Shrimp in Sleeping Bags! Oh so yummy!

The food here is GREAT!!! The price was reasonable, the setting might be misleading as the exterior is average looking, however the interior is cozy, but a bit dim. If you're a wheelchair patron, the restaurant might be a challenge to get around, as it's small, and accessing the rr is a bit awkward as you have to go outside the restaurant itself and enter the back way.

I went there tonight based on reviews here instead of my usual which is "The Little Thai". This place isn't *that* wonderful. I have nothing to complain about - perhaps the food was a little dry - but the reviews here way over-hype the place. The food was good quality and nicely presented. The portions were adequate.

Best Authentic Thai Food in the Bay Area. Thep Phanom does not even come close. The Green Curry is divine, made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. The owner/chef's name is Pai and she does all the cooking. The menu is not extensive, but everything that is served is great. Be sure to try Pai's specials. The lunch prices may seem a little high, but that's because they give you so much food. Since everything is prepared fresh, it may take a while for you to get your food.
