Since 1977, Squeeze Inn has been serving the Sacramento locals some of the best burgers around. This Sacramento burger joint creates mouth-watering burgers from fresh ingredients made daily. The famous Squeeze Burger is not the only thing on the menu worth checking out, there are also sandwiches, tacos, hot dogs, fries and cold drinks. If you like a friendly, down-home atmosphere where they'll take the time to learn your name, come try Squeeze Inn. Eat in or take out, the food is made to order so it's always fresh and delicious. Order the famous Squeeze Burger (a whopping 1/3 pound burger on a sesame seed bun) and a soda and make yourself at home.
Squeeze Inn is the best cheeseburger in town
by kathleen d.
My favorite place for a cheeseburger. Yes it is old and very small but it doesn't matter because the burgers are awesome. If it wasn't good there wouldn't be such long lines every day.

Squeeze Inn is OK, Scott's is better
by Mike S.
I liked the Squeeze Inn before the lines got too long. Then I discovered Scott's Burger Shack on Franklin Blvd near 21st Ave. Better burgers and better prices, at least 3 bucks cheaper for a combo. The health Inspectors stopped the Squeeze Inn from making fresh cut fries, now their generic fries suck. Check out Scott's, no ADA problems there, it's all take out , no bathrooms, parking is not a problem either.

Bad experience
by Beth H.
I hate to be a spoil sport, but I was not impressed by the food I got at The Squeeze Inn. I learned about this place on the food network and was excited to get the chance to go there when I went to visit my friend in California. However, while we were waiting for our food, I noticed several things that almost made me change my mind about eating there. I'm sorry I didn't. First of all, there is a serious risk with cross contamination in the food prep area. I saw one girl open a package of raw meat on the same surface that ready to eat food was prepared without wiping it off or sanitizing the surface afterwards. Also, the meat probably shouldn't be stored next to the cheese (it was actually touching in some parts) even though the cheese is heated/cooked on the grill. The cook handled raw meat and only wiped his hands on a paper towel before handling ready to eat food instead of washing them. Also, I saw him leave the kitchen and return to cooking without washing his hands. I saw only one or two people wearing hats, and no one (especially the girls with long hair) wearing hair nets. After we sat down to eat our food, the burger wasn't that great, my friend found a really long hair in her burger, and her husband said the chicken taco was "greasy as hell". I believe that there are some serious sanitation issues here that should be addressed before someone gets sick.

Love the burgers, cheese-coated chaos!

The cheeseburger is a true wonder of the world- it is so good with the big ring of cheese!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
And-
the crowded lobby and bar is crazyfun, and its controlled chaos- your order can get mixed behind people behind you.
One day we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for our order so we waited in the podunk dining area out back. As we waited we watched a funny little boy run around :) it was cute.
Also as we waited we noticed someone that showed up 15 minutes after we did get served before us by the goodhearted corn- fed gal with lowcut tee shirt (whoohoo!) I forgive them...just send her out again.
When we got our food it was sorta-hot, with good fries. OK- even good places have crazy days.
Yes- the chocolate shake is the best in town!

YUM!! The crispy cheese on the burgers is so good. It is the most interesting little joint and it may be a long wait but trust me it is worth it. Don't forget the chocolate shake on the side!

Squeeze Inn and Walked Out
Had read about this place, so I thought I'd give it a try. Read that it was very small so I and a friend went after the lunch crowd. Only about two people there eating when we showed up, ordered a cheese burger, fries and a soft drink. When are food finally arrived looked greasy and found out yes it was, funny thing also was the burger was dry, the meat didn't taste fresh, tasted like it had been frozen. The fries where greasy, the glass of soda was filled with 80 percent ice when I had asked when I had first ordered to go lite on the ice, when I asked nicely if I could have some of the ice taking out you could tell they where not pleased at that. (Something on a side note I've always hated how some restaurants will fill the glass up with ice so that they can save money on soda, when reading the menu instead of glass of soda with ice it should read glass of ice with a splash of soda)
My friend and I both agreed that neither one of us would be going back there again.

A great burger joint!
by Spike M.
This is a joint. It has always been a joint. If you want a "gourmet" burger, go somewhere else. People who have been going here for decades (extreme locals)
know when to go and what to expect. In the old days, every time a food review came out they were busy for weeks. then it would slow down until the next review. They are ALWAYS busy at lunch so get there before or after. They used to be open fewer hours and were a hell of a lot "dirtier". They make money and could probably care less about your yuppie, whiney, simpering complaints. If you don't like, go away!!!

so not worth the very verylong wait
by T C.
We went there today and waited over 45 mins to get our to go order when those that ate in and sat at the cramped bar were served before me. Like them staying there was more important than my order. We got the burgers home and were disappointed at how poorly they were packed up. I will say the fries were good. But so not worth the wait. I can get a better burger, way less the wait, and far better customer service at Red Robin. I can't in all good conscience give this place a good rating.

Family Favorite!!!
by Shayla R.
We've known about this place since before the Food Network! The burgers are a must have if your really hungry and the tacos and great for a smaller meal! The place is small, very small, but they offer seats outside to eat at. My family and I don't mind waiting for the seats inside because it's half the fun! I read some of the other reviews and I don't know who Sam is but we have never experienced poor customer service. For the people who liked the food but not the cramped space I hear they are trying to open a larger restaurant in Galt! Squeezing in to Squeeze Inn has always been one of our favorite things to do in Sac!

As to the burgers & fries, they are good but overpriced when you consider the surroundings. We paid $16.65 (including tax & tip) for our 2-person lunch. My wife did not get to enjoy her meal because of the lack of elbow room. The person next to her kept bumping into her!
They put way too much ice into the drinks. I had to keep asking for refills because there was hardly any liquid in the cup. On the plus side, the waitress did ask me if I wanted a lid after my last refill.

This is an average restaurant. The restaurant is small so when it gets busy during the business lunch hour it can be hard to find a seat. They have a great menu of choices and the price is fair. But the food is just average to me.
PROS: none
CONS: needs to be larger

This place is so super tiny, hence the name! Their burgers are so wonderful, you really can't eat anything the rest of the day because of how huge they are. There is usually a crowd, but there is outside dining available in the back. Don't miss it!
PROS: Great Food
CONS: So small it's hard to breathe sometimes.

Disability...
by CecilSala
I have been disabled since I was 10 months old, and grew up in Chicago in a society that was not tolerant nor understanding of "crippled" people. Regardless, I went to college, worked for a major national hotel chain and later became one of their top food executives. I have never ever abused the fact that I am disabled - I am not, I am very able, I just happen to be physically challenged. I have been at the Squeeze Inn a few times, and I asked a customer to please get me a delicious burger and a soda, gave her my money, and I got my order faster than anybody else, delivered by a friendly employee. People made room for my electric scooter at the outdoor table, and had a grand time chit chatting with them.
People who used the "poor me" card are pathetic and sad, and I really feel sorry for them, because their lives are wasted, and they extort money to live for free.
The California Disability Rights group should not encourage these individual to abuse the community.
Keep serving great food with superb service. I know how hard you work to keep everyone happy.
Pros: none
Cons: Abuse...

Great chicken tacos and try to sit inside if you can!
by sprintcarkelly
I only live 5 minutes from The Squeeze in so I try to go there a few times a month for a great chicken taco! Sometimes when I am really hungry I also get their fries, although I can never finish them because they give you too much! I must admit I am not able to sit inside because I have a young daughter, so I have to sit outside at the picnic tables. The area is really run down, so your eating experience will not be the same eating outside and you will be sharing your food with flies. I recommend getting there early so you can try to eat inside for that true "Squeeze" experience. I also recommend parking at the McDonald's down the street if there is no parking in front! If you like good chicken tacos this is the place to go!
Pros: great chicken tacos and fries!
Cons: run down area, unpleasant seating outside, higher than average prices

When we were watching the food network one night we caught this hambutger joint called the SQUEEZ INN so my husband and I ventured out looking the address and found a little orange building with no parking anywher but we wanted to try this burger that was on the foodnetwork that we waited and waited until a space became open then we got in line and it was a long wait of course it was lunch time but we did'nt care and let me tell you we were very very hungry so after waiting about 45 min, we were in we got to sit at the bar not realy a bar I should say counter, let me tell you the girls where so friendly and the service well they made us feel very welcome like family then our burgers came and oh my God they were so good, that every chance we get we are out there you see we have been there several times and the girls remember us and that is a very good feeling, just writing this is makeing me very very hungry. Want a off the hook burger go to SQUEEZE INN I promise you won't regret it. Thank you Food Network for bringing Squeez inn to our view. Thank you Squeeze Inn for being in Sacrmento.
Pros: two thumbs up
Cons: not enough parking

Great Burger Experience
by grandmasterb
We drove 90 miles from Chico to try Sacramento's best burger and were not dissappointed. The dive is hard to find and I think we would have been lost without a GPS. Parking is very limited, we just arrived before the rush at 11:00am. I was able to go right in and sit at the small bar to order food for my wife and I and watch the cook/owner do his thing. The place is tiny but that is obviously what they are going for and is part of the draw. If you want comfort go to burger king. I ordered a double squeeze thinking i was hungry enough. The burger was HUGE. A single would have been plenty but I did manage to down it all. Fries are OK but the burger is why I came. If you sit outside, flies can be an issue but my anticipation of the burger overrode them. I will bring anyone that comes to visit to this joint because it is well worth it. Very friendly servers and great food...should be a historic landmark...
Pros: Food, service, ambiance
Cons: parking

good burgers, slow service, no room
by daquietmofo
went here after reading the great reviews. burgers are unique and really good. the crispy chesse is awesome. fries were average, maybe because i got the last few of the batch. waited about 25 mins for food b/c there is only ONE cook. this place is about as big as a 1 car garage. very expensive would be the down side. and pretty much everything you want on a burger will be EXTRA... alot EXTRA $. i ordered 2 squeeze burgers with cheese w/fries and it was $14. good for a unique experience, but the Habit will be a tastier/more satisfying burger.
Pros: unique burgers,
Cons: mediocre fries, small area, long wait, pricey

Review of Diners and Dives opinion!
by TeddyM67
TODAY IS THE DAY... We are starting this trip with a 5-Star rating based on what we saw on TV but, we are headed to The Squeeze today in Sacramento from Turlock. We are looking forward to it. We also saw it on the Food Network on "Diners and Dives" Will write a full report tomorrow!!
06/07/08-Went to "The Squeeze Inn" yesterday and from the time we got in line until the time we ate it was 1 hour and 13 mins. I have to tell you that it was well worth its wait!! Don't limit yourself to just the "squeeze burgers", we ordered the taco's as well and OH MY GOSH...what a fantastic taco. Don't get me wrong the burger was great too!!! The only reason a customer wouldn't like the staff, would be because they are jealous!!! They were all sooo cute with great personalities and BEAUTIFUL smiles...We will recommend this place and definately go back....Ted & Joni Noain-Turlock, CA

BEST BURGER I EVER HAD !!
by JASONHUMBOLTCOUNTY
It didn't bother me to wait for the burger which was great tasting and for the price was worth ever penny I paid!
The wife and I drove all the way from McKinleyville Ca and was not dissapointed!
I do have one suggestion if possible how would the burgers taste if the burger was grilled on BBQ first ,then put on grill with cheese.
The blonde girl there was very polite and we had a good time talking to the nice people while we were waiting for the best burger ever!
So next time your in SAC make one of your stops for a AWESOME BURGER !!
Thanks Sqeeze INN !
Pros: VERY GOOD FOOD !!
Cons: Not enough parking!!

Costly, Unsatisfying, No Parking, Dirty - these are the good points
by lathropchuck
After reading glowing reviews and seeing the squeeze inn on TV my wife were very much looking forward to experience and food. So we drove 60 miles north with great expectations. WHAT A DISSAPPOINTMENT! You any one of 11 permanently mounted barstools to choose from - all with spacing made for the size of a 12 year old. Our order was taken while we were in line - before being seated. It was also done before we were seated. We were told there was additional seating "OUT BACK". Additional seating - what an overstatement - it was literally a few dirty tables next to a pile of garbage and the dumpster - after looking we politely declined and waited several minutes for something to "open up" inside. By now our food is cold and soggy. The famous crispy cheese is now cold and stuck to the paper wrapper and cardboard and to top it off the burgers had onions and mustard - which they were ordered without. We asked to have to order remade and the waitress agreed - but then with a straight face asked us if we would mind standing so some other customers food that had been prepared while they standing in line could sit and eat - but she gaurenteed they would have a seat when our food was ready. She was true to her word - MY SEAT WAS 2 STOOLS FROM THE WALL - MY WIFES WAS 3 MORE DOWN Great for sharing an order of fries!
The food was really nothing special. Our orders were the squeeze with cheese burgers and an order of fries. The burgers, when finally made correctly were overdosed with season salt and the fried cheese was really overhyped. Although the fries were made fresh they were undercooked, soggy and WAY over salted. All this combined with 2 med sodas came to $19.50. Even for pleasant surroundings and well cooked burger, fries and sodas somewhat pricey - but for the product served and ambiance completely unrealistic.
So if you have your mind made up to try the squeeze my recommendation is DON'T set the bar to high so you won't have far to fall when in fails to satisfy.

Very overrated and over-hyped burger joint
by dj_mc_entertainment
Uncomfortable surroundings and a feeling of cramped quarters.......anyone who is remotely claustrophobic should avoid this place.
As to the burgers & fries, they are EXCELLENT but they are very expensive. We paid $16.65 (including tax & tip) for our 2-person lunch. The fries are a good deal ($2.50 for a very large box, enough for two people). The burgers ($4.80) are rather pricey considering the surroundings.
I would rate this place as follows:
AMBIENCE: ONE STAR
FOOD: FOUR STARS
overall rating; THREE STARS.
Pros: good food
Cons: uncomfortable surroundings

Almost as good as In N Out
by timanderin05
We drove up from San Diego on a road trip to experience The Squeeze Inn after watching The Food Network episode. We both did not eat on purpose at all before we came in, and that was a good decision. Definitely a small dining area, though there is room in the back. We waited about 10 minutes to sit down, and 10 more minutes to get our order. My husband and I both had the Squeezeburger w/ cheese .... bacon, mushrooms and avocado for my husband (who did not have the gigantic cheese skirt that I did) and a large order of fries. No problem with service, everyone was very friendly and conversational, we had quick refills of drinks, empty ketchup bottles and salt shakers. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stop by.
Pros: Good food, cheese, bacon, cheese and bacon.
Cons: Hard to park

Great Burger!
by karenlau759
Ok, This place is great. I've been living in the Sacramento area for a few years and thanks to the Food Network I've discovered a great place for a burger. The draping of the crispy cheese was delicious especially when you bite into the burger and you get that extra crunch. The fresh fries were really good too. I wish my appetite was bigger though that day. Anyhow, I definitely recommend this restaurant. There is a line so be prepared. I also read a few reviews prior to trying this restaurant and there were a few complaints about a specific waitress. It was pretty obvious who the girl was. You can definitely sense her attitude but she was prompt to refilling our drinks without us asking and when we left she offered lids for our sodas.

Sam
by scajen33
I also encountered Sam when my husband and I went to the Squeeze Inn. She was a snotty little c#^t and ignored our requests for more soda. If the burgers weren't so dang tasty, we wouldn't even go there anymore. They need to kick her skank butt to the curb. She could probably get a job at McDonald's or something. I just hate bad customer service. These people act like you're doing them A FAVOR.
Pros: The burgers are GREAT!!!
Cons: Sam Skanky Waitress (she'll probably be working there the rest of her life).

Great food. Bad customer service.
by fourwheelintoy
The burgers are great if you're willing to stick out the wait. Here's the deal; the cook was nice, the brown hair server was nice, but Sam. Sam continued to serve at least 4 other customers who ordered after us. We asked her for our order and she gave attitude and ignored us. I had to ask the cook for our order and he told Sam to finish the order for us. She ignored the cook and then served the 5th customer who ordered after us while continuing to ignore us. The brown haired server then asked Sam to finish our order and Sam refused to acknowledge. The brown hair server finally gave us our cold fries and we left. Our order had sat there for about 10 minutes which caused our burgers to be luke warm.
So basically our 60 minute experience was ruined because of Sam's poor customer service.
Burgers are 4 stars even luke warm. Service is a big fat 1 star.
Pros: The cheese
Cons: Parking, Sam, and the wait.

Greatest Burger in the World
by perdo
The Squeeze with Cheese is hands down bar-none the greatest burger in the world. I moved a lot growing up and whenever we settled into a new town we would go from burger joint to burger joint looking for the best burger in town. When we moved to Sacramento we started our quest and hit-the-streets, it was burgers as usual until we found the Squeeze Inn. I can attest with utmost certainty that there is no better burger in Sacramento, the Western United States, and most likely the entire world. In part due to the unbelievable deliciousness of the Squeeze Inn?s burgers my family has set up permanent residence in Sacramento and if I someday leave this city I will undoubtedly be forced to set up pilgrimages back just for the unearthly cheese-skirt laden marvel that is the Squeeze with Cheese.
Pros: Greatest burger ever, cheese skirt, good chicken tacos
Cons: There is only one on Earth and my traveling heart is eternally bound to it.

Well Worth The Visit
by phoood
Hamburger lovers will not be disappointed at Squeeze Inn. I ate there for the first time today (finally!), and have to say that I had one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. I ordered a Squeezeburger with cheese. The meat was flavorful and juicy, there was lots of delicious cheese, and the bun was the best I've ever had with a hamburger. The fries were also very good. I'm looking forward to going back - maybe I'll order the Double Squeezeburger with cheese next time!
Pros: Great food, friendly service
Cons: The place is tiny - you may have to sit outside in the back.

Best Burger ever. Period.
by megan8607
This hamburger place is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find. But, once you find it, you'll crave it!!! The burgers are SO good, and they're cooked up unlike any other burger I've had before! The place is really, really small, and the staff are right there, you see how and where everything is cooked, and it's a pretty clean establishment on the inside.
Pros: Large Portions, friendly service, all food made in front of you
Cons: Not open enough, and the food takes awhile to make, but, that's what it takes to make such a great burger!

Best Burger in Sacramento
by cabosan
The best burger in town. I've been going there since the late seventies when Ruth and her husband ran it and now under the new owners. I always get a double squeeze with cheese ( off menu) and a hot dog ( the dog is almost as big as the burger and they deep fry it), the chili in the winter is my favorite with a squeeze with cheese. Its made with Habenero Chilis, after the third bite your wiping the sweat off your forehead and the back of you neck.
What I like about the Squeeze is the quality of the meat and their bun. Unlike most big burger joints the bun breaks down before you finish, not at the Squeeze.
Best time to get there and sit in the front row is 11:00 A.M., early for most, but remember they won't start your order until you order it and it does take a while to cook it.
Back when Ruth and her husband ran it they had a fish taco on the menu, her husband had a small fishing pole set up so the line went into the drain on the floor. It had a sign by the pole that said "Quite fishing for sewer trout".
Best Joke on the wall was "I hope I die peacfully like my grandfather did, not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car".
Adios
Pros: The Food
Cons: The wait if your late

Unbelievable Burger - Definitately the Best
by tslover
The Squeeze w/cheese is one of the best burgers you will ever find. I travel a lot throughout California and have yet to find a burger that can compare to this one. The buns are Muzzio and are one of the best buns you could get. The french fries are made from real potato's, unlike the majority of places that you go to. The Squeeze Inn is a small place but there is plenty of seating in the back. Parking is harder to find than a seat. Although the place is not wheelchair accessible, there is a patio that works out well and the staff have no problem coming out to the patio to take your order. There are tables out back. Once you have one you will go back for more. My parents who live out of town try to stop there when they come down, with or without me. I have even put the number in my cell phone. You can always order ahead or get it to go. If you like a good burger you have to try this one. I have tried Nationwide, Jim Denny's and the other local favorites and they are no comparison.
Pros: Great food, great value
Cons: parking, seating, location, limited hours

Great burgers and homemade fries!
by robinngabster
We read about Squeeze Inn online and had to try it. The place is a bit dumpy but the food is so good who cares. The people working there were friendly and fun! Had a bit of a wait for our food, we went right at lunch time and on a Saturday but it was worth it.
We got lucky and grabbed a few seats at the counter while our food was being cooked. Will go back again for sure...huge servings...could easily split a squeeze burger and share a large fry if you wanted too.
The cheese skirt was my favorite part of the burger. The cheese is allowed to melt down the sides of the burger and crisp up on the grill...almost like it is burned but not really. And if you order a drink in a med or large you get free refills!
Give it a taste you won't be sorry!
Pros: good food and fun place
Cons: not much parking, not much seating but if you live in Sacramento you have to try it at least once.

Delicious Little Dive
by lboo
My co-workers took me here for lunch about two weeks ago and I was in burger heaven!
It's definitely a bit of a hole in the wall and they are not kidding when they say "Squeeze Inn". It was hot and crowded and the back porch seats had lots of flies but that is not why you come here. You come here for the greasy, huge, wonderful Squeeze Burger with a cheese skirt and handcut fries with skins!
Just call ahead (the wait can be looong, especially at lunch), pick up and go somewhere private where you can make a mess without everyone staring at you reveling in burgery goodness!
The best burger I have had anywhere hands down. Make sure you ask for that cheese with a skirt! They let it melt down onto the grill and it gets lovely and crispy and...wow, now my stomach is growling!
Pros: Burgers, Fries, Cheese Skirt
Cons: Crowded, Hot

Best Inn The West
by ffksr
I have ate at hamburger places from Nebraska to Alaska, Montanna to Texas, and the bottom line is there is only one real hamburger place to eat, "The Squeeze Inn" in Sacramento, Calif. on Fruitridge Road, all the rest are just wanna be's.

Still going strong
by llyrmoon
My father, Ken Noblett, owned the Squeeze for 15 years before he moved. His food was legendary, and the currect owners keep up this tradition. The Squeeze is small town atmosphere, big city taste, and hometown kindness. The is no place like the Squeeze; either to eat at the counter, or grow-up behind the counter.

You will NOT leave hungry
by macuser74
If you have never been to Squeeze Inn...you MUST try it. It may be crowded inside, but there is plenty of seating out back. The Squeeze with Cheese is the burger to top. I have never found a better burger joint!
Pros: Great Value, Awesome Food, Superb Service

Best Burger in Town! =P~
by pakibarbie
Although I have to agree with the previous review about the "Squeeze In" being small, the burgers were awesome. I've never actually had a cheese skirt and am still having a craving the day after. The burgers were superb, service awesome. I had a birthday party for my brother there with about 15 people (since it's his favorite lunch spot) and he loved it. They were super friendly and let us take our time even after the establishment closed. To be honest, I'm planning on going back there some time this week because I wish I had eaten more. Alas' there is only so much room in my stomach! Thank U "Squeeze In" for making it special!
Pros: Best Burgers, Awesome Service, Cheap
Cons: Only Seats 10-15, Closes Early, Not For Dieters! :)

A halo of cheese!
by madhur11
The cheeseburger actually has a halo of cheese around it- never seen anything like it before- have to see it to believe it. The atmosphere is very cozy, as the name suggests- just a counter with 10 stools with the grill on the other side. The smallest burger shack I've seen. The server and cook are very friendly and usually chit-chat with customers. Fries are good and the Taco was quite yum too. Greasy but oh-so-good!
Pros: Cheese, delicious burgers, yum tacos
