The owner has a policy of not purchasing ANY locally raised tropical fish. He says it "is too much trouble." I have chosen not to shop here anymore; it "is too much trouble."
In general, locally raised fish are healthier and raised by people who are not just doing it for the money; but because they enjoy it. Additionally, buying locally raised fish encourages the hobby locally and fosters knowledge. Ultimately, buying locally raised fish will increase profits for the shop which does it.

I miss the new owner who was always friendly and helpful. The store has a great selection for a small town pet store, but the new people need to work on their customer service skills if they want people to keep coming back.

What a joy to find Best Friends in the SY Valley. The selection is wonderful and, most importantly, the customer service is SUPERB! Every question answered, special orders done immediately, phone inquiries returned promptly.

It is a great place with lots of quality animals and supplies for them. The picture of the guinea pig on my profile was one I got there and he is the best guinea pig ever. The woman there (Patti) does very well becuase she makes sure that all the animals are well socialized with people.

In these days of box stores and mega-pet supply shops, it is refreshing to find right here in Buellton a family-owned, first-rate pet supply store. The animals in this store are considerably healthier than you will find at PetSmart, etc., and the prices are actually LOWER. The staff is kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The owner is in the store nearly every day and knows not only my name, but my pet's name as well.
