The Dolores Park Cafe is a popular hang-out for park goers. This cafe serves sandwiches, salads, soups, fruit smoothies, juices and coffee. It offers a limited breakfast menu. Live music is performed every Friday night.
as a last minute, last ditch effort, i called-in an order to this restaurant for a bacon and eggs.
i've been sorely disappointed by another restaurant nearby, so i picked-up my food and went home.
i got the food to go because service at this restaurant is always a little forced. very uncomfortable to eat here because of it. like the lady has absolutely no charm whatsoever.

Decent cafe fare, sandwiches and salads and the like. The best part about it though is the location. It's on the corner right near the park, so it's convenient to stop in for a coffee or for a bite to eat. Good place to see and be seen too!

Dolores Park Cafe is all about location. With the patio facing the park, there is great people watching on a sunny, weekend afternoon.
The food is good. Dolores Park Cafe offers a selection of sandwiches, salads and really good smoothies.

I love Dolores Park Cafe. Located across the street from the park, this tiny cafe serves up excellent food, coffee and smoothies. The weekends are a great time to stop by, because although it is crowded -- the vibe is just what you'd expect from a locally-owned SF cafe. You can't get better than Dolores Park Cafe!

My wife loves this place but really I do not see the appeal. There are way better places to go that here. Always loud and not enough seating.
I chose Dolores Park Cafe for a quick bite for lunch with a friend, and though the menu sounds simple and good, my Fresh Mozzarella sandwich was pretty bland and the Cafe Latte was warm. It's a good place to hang out and people watch, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're hungry and need something tasty to fulfill your cravings.
Pros: Atmosphere, location, view
Cons: Pricey bland food, warm coffee
There's so many great things about the Mission, but having simple, cool neighborhood cafes is not one of them. But, Dolores Park Cafe is the salve to this ache. If you're looking for good, basic sandwich and salad fare, done with just enough care, go here. They also serve coffee drinks and other things you would expect in a sidewalk cafe. The prices are reasonable, given the quality of the food. The park is right across the way, if you want to grab something to go. Also, if you're a fan of cleanliness where you eat, this is a great spot.
Pros: Food quality, Location, Super clean
I just have to respond to the review titled "Faboo." The reviewer mentions the personable owner and the dogs. Actually, the owner allows her own dog in the cafe but insists that everyone else's dogs remain tied up outside. And, the owner is anything but personable. She's a snob and rude, but the place is ok when she's not around. Plus, the food is way overpriced and not that great. It's a neighborhood hangout, that's all.
Pros: nice location, sunny
Cons: rude owner, $$ average food, no outlets for laptop
Maybe I'm a sucker for a good sandwich, but I love Dolores Park Cafe (for the food). I would go there a lot more often if I could sit down and be served my meal as opposed to standing in line to order it and then waiting to be called to get up and fetch it. The prices imply full service dining but the food is really good, one of the best casual lunch spots.
Pros: Food, location
Cons: parking, set-up, expensive
this place is a great place to grab a bite and sit down with friends on a sunny day or read a book at an outside table. free wireless is a bonus if you ever want to hang out to work or have a casual meeting.
Pros: outdoor seating, free wireless, great atmosphere
One of my favorite cafes ever- for the food, GREAT SERVICE, wonderful personable owner, and great mixed lesbian/straight crowd (plus their dogs). Excellent menu with the best smoothies in the city, healthy wonderful sandwiches & side dishes, and fun music nights. Absolutely brilliant monthly art shows on the walls! You really can't get any better. Regarding the reviewer who didn't like their service, I've always found the staff to be warm & welcoming, probably because I'm not giving them bad attitude in the first place! ;) Great stop for food before/after Dolores Park dogwalking, sunbathing or any of the numerous events held in the park. I can't wait to move back across town to be able to drop by on a walk again! After 17 years in SF, I can truly say this is the one of the best-ever all-round, long-lasting cafe joints- it deserves your patronage! :) :) :)
Pros: food, art exhibits, clientele (+dogs!)
Cons: acoustics (noisy), nice if open later
Stopping in to Dolores Park Cafe for my soy chai is a ritual I look forward to everyday. They make their own chai daily which is amazing since most cafe's buy it by the gallon jug. Their food is fresh and delicious and a good value considering organic meats and produce costs much more in the market place. I love the art shows that change every month and music nights on Friday's are always a treat.
Pros: healthy food, exotic teas, yummy fruit smoothies
Cons: parking challenging
It's location is supreme- people and dog watching doesn't get any better than on the corner of Dolores and 18th. However, the people who work there are consistently aggrevating in a "cooler-than-thou" sort of way and the food is overpriced. I guess another fun aspect of people watching is that you can sit at the bar and watch a good portion of the other patrons be annoyed by the service too.
I recently moved away from San Francisco and my greatest sorrow was losing the Café which I enjoyed morning, noon and night. My days began with the always smiling, familiar staff who promptly served my latte. In the afternoon I grabbed a corner bar stool to enjoy my favorite seitan sandwich with chipotle aioli (which I haven't found anywhere else in the city), a mango smoothie and the sunshine streaming through the vast windows. And each evening my dog would relish the non stop attention from departing customers while she waited for me to get a decaf coffee before we ventured across the street to Dolores Park. Dolores Park Café has existed on 18th Street longer than any of the establishments you featured and is largely responsible for making 18th Street an appealing place for other businesses. I LOVE Dolores Park Café. It is my home away from home
Pros: Great Food, Great Staff, Great Atmosphere
If you want to sit in the sun, watch the attractive Castro-Mission crowd, pet a dog, eat a great lunch and truly experience the best of SF, go to Dolores Park Cafe! This is a place that can offer hours of procrastination, a quick stop on your way to work or a simply a welcome break from the Dolores Park beach. The location is perfect, the people fantastic and the food and drink divine!
Pros: location, outdoor sunny seats, people and food
Dolores Park Cafe is a great destination for an afternoon with a book or a friend. Tasty breakfasts and lunches. There is no better place to people and dog watch.
Pros: lively, healthy, great atmosphere
chai crush! very unique and yummy. tuna salad sandwich - a classic done up in a classic way. i don't like the potato chips but they happily sub fruit (or salad for a bit more).
clientele are easy on the eyes too!
Dolores Park Cafe offers many appeals; whether you need a place to study (wi-fi), grab a quick bite, or chill in the sun while slurping a smoothy, I enjoy this cafe for all those reasons plus they have are centrally located. Check it next time you are in Dolores Park or the Mission.
Pros: outdoor seating, hot sandos, smoothies
