My girlfriend and I wanted to go somewhere nice for our anniversary, and reserved a table at Azie. Unfortunately, the only time available was 9:00 PM. So, we went ahead and showed up at about 7:45, figuring we could hang out at the bar for a while until our table was available. How happy were we when they found a spot for us in about 20 minutes!

The service was excellent; attentive but not overbearing; professional but laid back. The food was even better! The space and overall atmosphere was very cool. We will definitely be going back.

after waiting patiently at our table for an hour, we were served fish and meat that was cold. it seemed slightly reheated and dry as well. our waitor was extremely rude and it was totally obvious that he was walking over to the other waitors to talk smack about us. it was my friend's bday dinner, we were promised a cake, but only handed an overpriced bill.

I've been going to Azie off and on for the last 4 years. I've always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The reason I'm writing a review now - the last 3 times I've been into the restaurant I've constantly been amazed at how delicious the food is, and I didn't think it could get better!
I know they have had a few Chef changes, but I think they have found a match with Chef Conrad. This is definately one restaurant that you need to try for yourself. The Shortribs are amazing! And I could make an entire meal out of their appetizers!

Very unprofessional "booth policy", the manager and the hostess runs it all!!! Food was ok, lots of other restaurants with better food in the Bay Area. Will never ever go back again.

This is a very good "first date" place to take that special someone. It has great ambiance, very romantic and the food "family style" is overall satisfying to your pallette. A can get little pricey but well worth it. The ambiance is perfect for a couple that just wants to enjoy good food and each other. If you are on a date, I would suggest to reserve seating that has the drawn curtains...

I know sucks is a harsh word but when you think about Azie compared to all the other awesome restaurants in SF there is no reason to waste your money there. My girlfiend and I thought it would be good since we like Lulu, but we were mistaken. The plates were smaller than small plates and priced like big plates and the server never refilled our wine glasses and seemed to have forgotten about us a few times thru the evening. The sauces were kind of weird and the steak entree was about 3 oz. of meat which was way undercooked.

We were expecting so much more from this restaurant from the price and the citysearch rating, but I think it was a waste of $130 and I'll never go to Lulu or Azie again because of it!

took 2 hours for food to come out. waitor was non-chalant and rude. Treated us like crap. We went for friend's birthday. "promised" us to make it a special occasion and bring out a cake. Never happened. The food is the size of your fist. Dry... Crappy.. and luke-warm. (reheated). HORRIBLE experience, complete waist of money.

We eat out 1-2 times a week and have eaten at most of the best and new restaurants in the city. It's simply overpriced. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, the restaurant is beautiful and the service is good. However, there are places that serve the same quality of Pan-Asian food with the same quality of service for about 25% less.

Great interior design. I believe Drew was also our server. He made great recommendations for entrees. Plus looking at the menu alone will salivate your taste buds. The curry dusted fried calamari was delicious. The mouth watering short rib entree practically melts in your mouth. The duck risotto could not be put down. Add then naan bread appitizer with it and the meal is perfect. Didn't try any wine but it's an extensive menu feature Napa and international bottles. I went with friends but it's a great place to go in a group or on a date. Expect to pay at least $50 per person for just appetizer and dinner plus a drink.

This is the sister restaurant to Lulu's, which is right next door. I have to be honest: I have a lot of friends who think Azie is overpriced and not worth it. But every time I go there, I'm impressed with the food. It is on the expensive side, but I've never been disappointed by my choice of meals there.

Take the time to visit this fantastic SoMa restaurant. The food is innovative and tasty, the cocktails are to die for, and the service is outstanding. And definitely save room for dessert.

I'm surprised to hear that anyone would disagree (and am appalled that anyone would name names...) but this is no place to rush through a meal anyway if you do it right. Enjoy!

My Husband and I frequent this restaurant at least 3 times a month for it's stellar French cuisine and artistic atmosphere. Recently, we noticed a new server, who we had the pleasure of meeting Saturday night. Drew had the warmth of a natural charismatic leader, and he went out of his way to recommend choice wines and even local wineries to tour, as we were planning a trip to Napa on Sunday. Any patron who does not find him helpful and attentive is either extremely impatient or crazy. As regular customers of Azie, my wife and I take pride in conversing with those who make our meal a pleasant experience and we look forward to seeing Drew in the months to come.

We had the salmon and the halibut for dinner, and both were amazing! The flavor was perfect, and very innnovative. I'm not sure why people complain about the portion size, because we had plenty of food for two people with just two entrees and a starter. The restaurant design is very nice as well, and great for a large group or a romantic dinner.

Had dinner at Azie last week and had a great experience. The beef short ribs were amazing as were the tempura fish rolls we had for appetizers.

The service was very efficient and the restaurant is beautiful. Lots of dark wood and clean lines - very modern with an Asian influence.

I'd recommend Azie for a romantic evening out. It would also be good for a business dinner since it's quiet enough to carry on a civilized conversation.

Azie has a wonderful looking dining area. Professional look staff and a very unique menu.
I love to eat out and tried out this restaurant with some friends.
The Service : Awful. The staff will provide you with min. b/c they get the 20% forced tip.
The food: small portions. Chicken was too salty. Desserts were tiny.
Overall: I would never eat there again. The SERVICE was so AWFUL, and the staff were unaccomadating. Try other places.

Went there with 3 of my girlfriends this past Saturday. I agree that the best place to be seated is in the booths which we got. The food was pretty decent for the most part. I thought that the iron skillet spicy shrimp and the fried rice were bit on the salty side. We had the spring rolls, the steamed alaskan halibut, the crispy chicken, short ribs and the green beans, which were all pretty good. We all thought the crispy chicken was the best, it had some unique flavors that makes it pretty good. It is true the desserts are on the small side, but they were yummy. I thought the wine prices by the glass were a bit on the pricy side considering you don't get much, but the wine was good. There is valet parking, but my friend and I were both able to find street parking.

I looked forward to going with some anticipation given previous reviews and expected it to be stellar. Instead, my salmon was only slightly warm and not that flavorful (sounded more interesting than it tasted). The fried rice was ok (also nothing amazing). I "recommend" it only because the food is somewhat above average and the ambience was nice. Service was cordial, but a bit slow and the guy was very busy running around upstairs (maybe too many tables?). Overall value - eh, a bit overpriced considering everything.

Azie has constantly amazed me with it's incredible food. Though it is classified as French it has moved more toward French-Asian fusion.

The restaurant itself is gorgeous. That in and of itself is something to go for, even if you just go to the bar and have one of their great drinks.

The new chef has added young vibrance to the restaurant, and I've found myself wanting to go eat there almost every week now. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

Dine About Town is a great opportunity to try out restaurants. Azie was disappointing. The hostess ignored our requests made ahead of time - gave us regular menus (had to wait 10 minutes to get a waiter to get us DAT menus) and ignored our seating requests. Water was "on its way," but never made it to our table. Food was below average. Saving grace was the mussels - delicious! After that, the food went downhill. My girlfriend ordered the soy glazed salmon that was TOO SALTY (too salty, no water) and not cooked properly. i had the beef which i ordered medium, came out medium well. the dessert was bland. Service needs improvement. The table next to us repeatedly asked for their check and like our water, it never came. The man got up, with credit card in hand and chased down the waiter. Absolutley horrible!

We were surprised to find Azie packed on our last visit (a Tuesday night) since their business had seemed a little slow for a while. I love their tandoori steak and warm starter salad and their very interesting spin on family-style dishes. The meats are beautifully prepared (especially the steak and the chicken), and the sauces and garnishes are wonderful but truly compliment the meats they accompany, and never overwhelm. Good wine list, too- and DEFINITELY try the peanut butter and chocolate panna cotta!

I've now dined at Azie on two occasions. The first time was two months ago for my husband's birthday. Our private booth was very romantic, the food was amazing and our server helped to make the evening a special one. I had called ahead of time to order some champage. When we arrived, the bottle was chilled and ready for us on our table! They even wrote a special birthday message on his dessert plate! My second experience was with a group of 30 for a business dinner. We were seated privately on their Mezzanine. The food and atmosphere were as wonderful as I had remembered. This will definitely remain one of my favorite spots for dinner in SF.

Living in SF, I believe there are a lot of trendy restaurants around. Azie is overrated. Their food is good, more asian than french. They have a VERY short cocktail list, and desserts are TINY in portion. Main dish is personal size...don't expect to get too much for what you pay. Its not overly expensive to get a quaint trendy atmosphere to eat at. But consider BAD SERVICE, and I would reject this place. There are far more restaurants in SF that would provide the same or better overall qaulity w/ exemptional service. I won't come to Azie again!

Recently I took my date to Azie and couldn't have asked for more....romantic, great food and perfect service. After reading this site, I thought it would be more expensive but entrees only ranged from $13 to $24 not $44! Chef Beardsley is right on.
Thanks Azie!

Azie used to be one of the best new restaurants in the city. Bring back the old chefs, they were awesome. The first and second year staff were the best. The flavors and the creativity of that kitchen was probably the most unique and special. Coming from NY, every time I come down to SF, I try to visit Azie, but the last year, the restaurant was just a blah....they have lost their magic touch.

I had high hopes but was terribly dissapointed with the food as well as the service. I am very forgiving of poor service but not of poor food -especially when it is as pricey as it is. Nearly every item that our group ordered was disapointing. The fried sushi appetizer was the only item I would consider 'good'. The seafood entree's were not fresh and lacke flavor. Because the ratings are either not good or very good for this place I am going to assume that the high rating it received is because of 'friends' of the eastablishment promoting their place while the rest of us find nothing but disapointment. Save your money and try any one of the many other better options in the city.

I recently attended a business dinner at Azie and was impressed with the whole experience. The restaurant looks great, the female host was friendly and sat our party of 12 promptly. I thought the service was great, our waiter was fun, and was so knowledgable about the menu. He suggested I order the carpaccio starter and it turned out to be the high light of my meal. I recommend this place everyone.

I recently took advantage of the Dine-About-Town offer to have dinner at Azie - a restaurant I have wanted to try for a long time. My experience here was deeply affected by our server - incompetent, unprofessional, blatantly rude and condescending to me and my friends - from the very beginning. On top of that, he was clueless of his behaviour. He apologized to us because he was suffering from a "hangover" from the night before. Fortunately, the dishes were tasty enough to plow through the rest of the evening.

I recently went to Azie on a relatively uncrowded weeknight, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The wonderful hostess was very attentive to our choice in table location, and the red curry braised duck with coconut risotto lives up to its reputation. Our waiter was a bit intrusive and snobby--trying too hard, perhaps? But Azie is definitely a great restaurant...

Since I love fusion cuisine, thought I'd try Azie. Was disappointed. There are better restaurants such as Roy's, E&O Trading, Ponzu. Appetizer sampler was good but the rest of the dishes weren't. Seems to be very heavy handed with the oil so the food was somewhat greasy. The portions were also relatively small (which can be a plus or a minus depending on how you look at it).

I thought I would give this place a try. I should've paid attention to what others have rated.

The food was salty. So bad we couldn't eat it. The music was so loud, we had to speak at the top of our voices (no privacy of conversation), it was not romantic in anyway, service was EXTREMELY slow, food was overpriced & miniature in serving size. We had booth that looked comfy, but I guess management didn't think about ergonomics when it came to patrons. The bottom of the table had this large stand; there was no way to comfortably rest our feet. I looked around and saw lots of other patrons scuffing there shoes under the table or hitting each others' feet.

DON'T GO HERE!

Pros: Trendy, Good looking people, Fun for groups

Cons: Over priced, LOUD, Uncomfortable tables

Azie serves extraordinary, well presented, and creative Asia-Cal fusion dishes in a gorgeous high ceiling space. My Heirloom Tomato Salad was four salads, each on its own square plate including some super tasty miniature spring rolls filled with chevre cheese, and a tomato sorbet garnished with mint sprigs. Other dishes were similarly creative and everying was really, really good. The wine list is also first class with a good selection of Alsace wines which go well with the spicy cuisine. I have been to more than seventy restaurants in San Francisco, and this is one of the best.

Azie is the real deal. I took a business trip to San Francisco from Los Angeles and was told about a unique dining opportunity. My inital reaction when walking into the restaurant was pure excitment; a fantastic work of mid-east design throughout the restaurant. The kitchen easily complimented the design with food rich in flavor and taste. The service helped guide me through the details of each exotic entree--definatley a must! I walked into Azie hearing wonderful stories and walked out ready to share even better ones.

My friends took me here for my birthday last weekend and the food was a waste of money. The restaurant has nice decor, the staff is friendly, and their mojitos are very good.

However the price you pay for the dishes is NOT worth it. The combination of sauces and ingredients used did not compliment any of the dishes. It was mediocre food at best. And if you must go, please do not get the side dish of wok tossed greens. It was basically just a slab of bitter, undercooked spinach.

Azie was a nice place to eat for our last dinner date in SF before we went back home to NYC. It felt like a lot of the restaurants in NYC and that was nice. The staff was really nice with no attitude. We had oysters, hamachi salad, the lobster, and lamb chops. We enjoyed the Asian-fusion style of food and our wine. I loved the little touches such as the wooden salt and pepper holders. Very unique.

I recently dined at Azie on a Sunday night at 7:30. There were about 6 other patrons in the restaurant. The service was very poor. Our waiter sounded as if he were speed reading through his "lines" when we sat down. When we questioned him about menu items he was vague or even wrong about certain things. They did not have the wine we selected from their wine list. On top of that our wine glasses were dirty and had to be replaced. Some of the food was good. I had the nine bites which was a lot of fun, but a little spotty on taste. Dessert was acceptable. Nothing wowed us. With so many other fabulous restaurants in town, we definitely won't go back. I would not recommend Azie to others. It is just not worth the cost.

Had dinner at Azie with group of 8 and made sure to call ahead for a reservation after reading of the experiences of others. Sorry to say we had the same trouble...reservation was for 9PM and we didn't get seated until 9:50. Inexcusable. The hostess was pleasant but hardly apologetic for the delay and even the waitress didn't seem to feel the need to apologize. The food was fantastic though and the ambience enhances the entire experience. good thing too b/c you certainly need some kind of pick up after that long a wait.
