If you have a job or go to school or have any restrictions on your time whatsoever, I do not recommend going to this vet for spay/neuter. I work with a rescue group that has gone here on and off for years because it is cheap and the vet that is there during the week often gets in these "moods" where she turns away perfectly healthy animals that are scheduled for spay/neuter without examining them, claiming that they sneezed once when they were in back or something similarly unprovable. It's not just me - she has quite a reputation for this in the rescue community. Perhaps she is just feeling ornery, or she just doesn't feel like having a busy day that day, but whatever the reason it's unpredictable when she will be in one of these moods and when she is, that means that you starved your pet for nothing (no food/water after midnight the night before) and that you now have to bring your pet back home (so I hope you scheduled enough time to go back home before you have to be at work) and then literally try your luck again another time. If your time has any value to you, then the small savings you get here just isn't worth it. The vet simply has no respect for your time and effort and you are completely at the mercy of her whims.

Pros: cheap

Cons: vet turns away animals for no reason

Animal birth control is now Value Vet it is not just birth control anymore but a full service clinic

Value Vet A newly added clinic in west Los Angeles
Headed up by Dr. Catherine L. Harrison DVM is the best pet veterinary clinic are cat has ever been to. Dr. Harrison is very friendly and took the time to go over
our cats condition thoroughly she went over all of the test with us step-by-step
her diagnosis was right on target
I also have to say that her and her team really took care of are cat everyone there was friendly and willing to help.
Another plus was that they had all the medication to treat our cats condition at the clinic
It was not necessary for us to make an extra trip to a pharmacy
Now for the prices I found that these were the best prices in town the blood test are cat had to have were less than half the price of others clinics in the West Los Angeles area

Are cat Roo and I Would like to Thank You and your team
for the great care you provided

Diane

PS
Here is the information in case anyone needs their services

My dog had a limp and I took her to this place because it is now part of Value Vet and is closer to my house than the Westwood location. The first thing the doctor told me was that I had come during their surgery hours and I was "lucky" she could see me (I had called before hand to see if I needed an appointment, and nobody mentioned that I should not come in the morning).

The doctor looked at my dog's leg for 5 whole seconds and told me she needed surgery for a luxating patella. She then walked off, saying she would give me the name of a surgeon. She came back, gave me the name, and walked off again...this time she never came back. This was my entire consultation. What kind of vet tells you your dog needs surgery and then just walks off, never to be seen again? She did not give me any information re: the surgery, the cost, whether it was in fact necessary, why it would be so, etc. NO INFO WHATSOEVER!!!!

This was a terrible, terrible experience and I will never go back. I'm also not impressed that Value Vet would associate itself with this place.

Animal Birth control is now under new ownership. They are now Value Vet with Dr. Harrison and staff. This once Spay/Neuter and vaccine clinic now offers full services with the same great value as the other Value Vet Hospitals. Dr Harrison and staff are AWESOME!!!! They still take in the ferals, rescues and work with the shelters. BUt now they do much more. I highly recommend them

I took my little dog here to get neutered. I was looking for a reputable, but affordable place. I had driven by this place and decided to check it out before I dropped my dog off there. They were very pleasant and sat down with me to assure me that while affordable, they were very respected. I took my dog there and we have had no problems.

PROS: friendly staff
