I just love Kiriko. The dark wood tables and generally quiet atmosphere create great ambience. The waitstaff is exceptional--so rare in a reasonably priced restaurant. Here, you can generally get market priced sushi for only $5--quite a steal compared to the $10 you will pay at lesser quality places. Don't miss their unusual tamago and delicious saltwater eel. In addition, there are a number of excellent hot dishes.

Kiriko is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles, period. It's a family business, owned and operated by a lovely married couple: the sushi chef and waitress. They serve fantastic, melt-in-your-mouth, religious experience fish. Prices are reasonable (especially at lunch). It's on Sawtelle, but part of the Olympic Collection -- underground parking is free with validation. The place is small (sushi bar and about 7 tables) but I've never had to wait long. Everything is excellent, and the seared albacore salad is to die for! In short, unpretentious perfection.

PROS: I've never had better sushi in my life.
CONS: none!
