Filippi's Pizza Grotto

This is like your mom and pops pizza place. Family atmosphere. The pizza is good. Prices are affordable. If you have a big party you may have to wait a while to be seated. Overall, for good Italian food, I would recommend it.

If you're ever in the mood for good Italian food and pizza and can't find a babysitter for your four year-old, then Filippi's is the place. Their pasta is good (better than those other chain Italian places) and their pizza is delicious. They also have affordable wines and a descent house wine for $5.

one of the better italian places. The menu ranges from normal spaghetti and meatballs to veal parmigiana. The pizza is almost deep dish like for those who prefer that( a little soft for me). By the decor, it looked as if there was a lot of history and they knew what they were doing and i thought i was right about that. The prices were very reasonable and the portions matched, i highly recommend this for your italian food fix!

Filippis Pizza Grotto has by far the best Italian food for the price in san diego. The pastas and pizzas are amazing. You can also get a really good salad or a sub sandwich. I'd recommend either the spaghetti with marinara or a nice thin pepperoni pizza, and don't forget about their quite tasty house wine.
